by best i mean the most viable/effective mesmer builds in SPVP solo que.

The strongest build is still condi PU. I personally prefer traditional power shatter and 4/4/6 lockdown, but they are not as strong.

PU build still the best, the only problem PU has is the speed, i mean it kills slowly.

fighting a tanker might take too long and time is precious.

can you guys go into details to what i should equip and such?

PU condi is absolutely not the best, arguably the worst build you can run. Very little point control, poor in team fight. PU power may be interesting-ish, but does seem Lockdown, ranged shatter (staff/GS) still the best, and for something a bit easier also Sensotix condi build from 26 Dec still works decent.

What is the lockdown ranged shatter build you speak of sendmark? I agree PU is slow and not as much fun in spvp.

PU is not the most viable/effective Mesmer build for sPvP right now.

While PU definitely works in the right hands, and can be effective in team play when smartly utilized, most higher level players generally agree that your standard 4/4/0/0/6 Shatter or 4/4/6/0/0 Lockdown are the most superior specs.

While I linked basic templates, you can essentially make almost any weapon combination work. Its highly recommended to use a Sword if you’re just starting, but Staff/Greatsword can be just as effective.

Cool and thanks Chaos Archangel, Ill give that a try along with the 6/2/6 power block version since they both seem more in line with my play style.

Please remember the OP is asking about SoloQ not TeamQ. I wouldn’t run PU builds in TeamQ either but it does work in SoloQ. PU obviously doesnt have the burst damage power shatter does but it does do reasonable damage and survivability is great. Pyro has much more to say on the matter here:

this is a no brainer… torment shatter mesmer is easily the best build for spvp – I come out top of my party every time by a long way and just destroy other mesmers not using the same build. It requires zero skill… you just keep making clones and shattering them straight away – I barely need to look at my foes – the closer they are together the better for me. A child could run it and win.

Which is why I’m ranked ~100 running almost nothing but PU condie…

At any rate, take a look at the solo queue guide in my signature. I personally feel that PU condie is one of the strongest choices right now, but it’s by no means the only choice. I’ll probably test out some power block builds soon as well.

Far more important than your build choice is knowing how to play it, and knowing how to play it in a way that makes your team win.

Condition PU is definitely viable in soloQ but you do rely on people killing themselves which does not always work out well.

thanks everyone for all the info and support. i got a question for chaosangel though, i’m completely new as a mesmer and so i can’t tell the difference between those 2 builds you linked. what does each build specialize at?
