I don’t even like the idea or theme of it.
I usually believe most leaked patch notes because they usually are actual leaks but those ultimates sounds rather peculiar to me.
How about a LAZER BEAM akin to Lux’s ultimate in LOL or Smite’s RA? Now that would be sweet.

Maybe. So far there have been several leaks which turned out to be true.
I really like the new skills for Ranger, Elementalist and Warrior. The two new Signets open up builds for Rangers because they no longer have to trait 30 points for the active effects. Elementalists could run less Arcane dependend builds. The Warrior Shout just sounds awesome. The combination of granting Quickness and causing Confusion is genius.
But the Mesmer skill… phew. It will depend on the weapon skills you will gain when being transformed. However, it just does not feel right for the class. I really dislike the fact that the Illusions would be destroyed when transforming since it undermines the class mechanic. ANet will also receive a beating for the Spirit Staff if it is true.
The ranger one will simply make one of there grandmaster traits redundant if it is true so what would it be replaced with?
The Mesmer one could be interesting but its depends on the weapons skills your gain but losing your other illusions while it is active undermines the mechanics of the Mesmer. (but if you transform into a illusion does that mean the illusion traits will also effect yourself now?)
I do like the look of the Ele skill but recharging attument means nothing if your skills are still on a 40 second cooldown.
That mesmer elite sounds terrible, I’m almost certain I’d never use it over mass invis.

Incredibly non-descriptive texts with no info on cooldowns or internal cooldowns. Some of them would obviously be incredibly OP if its just as-is. Like the Elementalist one – perma quickness, weee!!!
Secondly, most of them are just copies of existing skills.
Thief knockback trap? Hahaha… That’d be an engineer sheild or several other skills that have the same effect (fear, guardian knockback, etc). What’s going to be the cooldown of thief “elite”, 30 seconds? Or will it launch people clear across the map?
The Mesmer elite would just be Rampage in a shiny phantasm skin. Nothing more, nothing less. Warriors already got that elite, why on earth do we want a second rate version of it?

Yeah. I heard Necromancers complaining about it. I didn’t have any trouble with it so far since I do not play a Minion Master. Mesmers on the other hand will always face that issue since there is no way to not use Illusions. That’s pretty bad if those Elites turn out to be real.

example : if u got gs equipped u summon 3 berserkers wich atk at same time(enemy can easily evade all of em w 1 dodge, if fail they can get 1 hitted)
on pistol offhand duelists
sword offhand those sword phantasm
on focus enemy is between 3 wardens (hope they dont mess up w wardens if they implement this)
staff : 3 of those phantasm that deal more dmg if enemy got more condis

Did you ever read about the mesmer skill calculated risk This is the new Warrior skill? I’ve had this idea once for mesmers as a normal skill and posted it. (not sure if it was here or the german forum) I’ll look that up and quote here)

On second thought, what the hell. That supposed Warrior elite is SO much better suited to Mesmers.
I feel like Guild Wars 1 again when Necromancers got Spiteful Spirit instead of us. (I mean we did get Visions of Regret which was powerful as all hell but you know).
Here’s an idea for an elite I once had:
Phantasmal ritualist
Cooldown45/36 (is affected by illusionist’s celerity)
Summon a phantasmal ritualist that creates a circle of chaos around your target. On creation foes are immobilized, then the circle pulses cripple, vulnerability and 2 random short conditions per second. Allies gain a random boon per pulse. Lingers for 5 seconds. Foes that exit the circle are dazed.
Vulnerality: 1 stack, 15 seconds
Cripple: 1 second
Dazed: 1 second
Random conditions: weakness (3s), 3 vulnerability (5s), chilled (1s), poisoned (2s), crippled (1.5s), confusion (3 stacks, 3s), blind (2s).
Random boons: swiftness (2s), aegis (2s), protection (1s), vigor (3s), retaliation (3s).
Range (summon): 900
Range (phantasm attack): 600
Chaos circle radius: same as chaos storm
Chaos circle activation time: 1.5 (phantasm charges the attack before it happens, can be interupted, a bright purple light comes of the phantasm, similar to moa morph)
Chaos circle cooldown: 8.5
Unblockable (the initial immobilize can be dodged):)

Nobody likes my idea of a LUX or RA type ultimate? Think of how great that would be for a lock down build.

I think a giant pink lazer actually fits with the mesmers theme too. A giant focused beam of magic.
Also it’s a mechanic that we know works in video games. Think about it.
I, for one, have zero problems with that as a potential elite skill. After toying with Elementalist’s Fiery Greatsword, Guardian Tomes, and Necromancer’s Lich and Plague forms, I like the idea of giving mesmers a “let’s get this crap done” moment.
In large, group battles, I always feel that I’m playing defensively, picking off stragglers, avoiding the melee train, and hiding in stealth. I’d love to transform into something offensive with increased health, stability, and some quality AoE smack-down for a little bit.

Probably depends on the damage output of (possibly) new elite but it sounds like another useless spell to me.

Mesmers could use a transform skill, and keep in mind that us getting a transform means that we’re actually getting 5 new skills which could very well fill this niche. I’m not particularly upset about illusions dying in the form either, they are an extension of our weapon skills and the intent of Transformations is to replace your weapon skills. Ideally, the new form will include it’s own types of Illusions.

And this is my problem with current condi mesmer. After the nerfs I found a Condi shatter spec of 0-20-20-0-30 pretty bad, then they added Runes of Perplexity. I immediately jumped on Runes of Perplexity and found that if I dropped torch for focus I not only had more Swiftness in WvW, but also had a great interrupt with Knockdown.
The Runes of Perplexity now feel almost required for my condi shatter build because of the extra 3 stacks you’ll often have up. Even with the duration not working those to Procs are worth gold.
Without Runes of Perplexity I think you’re on a uphill battle to make a condi build really work. The Condi Mesmer’s durations are just too short in my opinion. Few players are going to stand there and let you spawn staff clones all day to whittle them down and stack Fire damage. Until Staff Clones stack fire damage you don’t see much movement in the enemies health. On the other hand Scepter’s #3 is so wonking and slow I often have it miss or I interrupt myself waiting for it to fire. With Runes of Perplexity though I’ll often get 8 stack off of Scepter#3. I thought of this a few weeks ago when running this spec that I only care about Scepters block period Full/Stop end of story. The scepter block is amazing while the channel is just painful to use. Scepter has a AAttack? Funny I’ve never noticed.
In the meantime Engineer’s and even Warriors now can get much better condi builds because they have incredible durations. With +40% food on Engi’s can easily keep a opponent perma poisoned (at least in my experience) Play a confusion shatter mesmer without Runes of perplexity and your confusion will be much more On or OFF than with Runes of Perplexity.
My only hope at this point is that with this upcoming Rune Rework we see some great procs for poison, torment, etc. On the other hand that means classes like Engi and Necro or thief will have an even easier time making poison stick to you like a piece of toilet paper on your shoe.
TLDR, our durations are too short at least comparatively imo. Too much reliance on Runes of Perplexity.

What is happening with the passive during the time between activating it and not doing anything? What is the point of using up an Elite slot for something that’s only useful if you’re going to die? It doesn’t even guarantee that you’ll get revived, just that your pet will be tougher while it’s trying, unless it get’s CCed, then who knows if it will even continue healing itself.

None of these things make sense, and unless they are really really trying to get Rangers to despise them and Rangers this is a thing that should never be made. As such it is more likely that it is a thing that would never be made, is not going to be made, and that this entire thing is fake.

AED is terrible because it is not insta-cast. If it was and maybe even castable when stunned it would be a pretty nice tactical tool. The same would go for the Signet. I would also take the Signet over a 30 points trait investment any day.

I feel that Rangers would be less upset about the active effects if the skills had a different name (e.g. Engineers and Gadgets). I actually like the unique approach of Ranger Signets. They just fall short because the pet AI is so bad. ANet really has to work on that even if it’s just a band-aid and not reprogramming the AI (e.g. larger melee range, F2 cast by the Ranger or whatever). If any skill type had a rework on Rangers I’d rather see Shouts being changed to be group focussed and fusing the pet based mechanics with Signets. For example, Sic ’Em could become the active effect of Signet of the Hunt which is pretty redundant anyway (Hello, Signet of the Wild!). If the Elite is real, they actually already did something like that since the active of the Signet resembles Search and Rescue.
Of course, all of those skills could be fake. But then they would not have bothered deleting the post made in the balance forum. We also had pretty accurate leaks in the past. The devs mentioned more yet disclosed changes for Rangers. Maybe that’s why it doesn’t look reasonable at the moment.

ohh nice. i mean if the new elite gives me some aoe dmg. that would be nice. please let it be not another single target thing. if it was something like lich form it could actually give us something that is aoe and doesnt require an illusion, because u are the illusion.

Does not count towards the 3 summon limit; invulnerable to damage; does not participate in shatters; attacks on summon then every 5s. Type of attack dependent on target. All phantasms give off a tell before attacks allowing for dodge/block etc. On target death, phantasm also dies.
Warrior – Summons at range 300 from target, dual axe whirling blades for x AOE damage towards target for 600 range. Projectile finisher.
Guardian – Summons on player, creates a dome that prevents enemies from exiting/entering for 2s. Doesn’t block projectiles/skills.
Elementalist – Summons at range 1200 from target, AOE firestorm around target for 2s. Similar to elementalist skill, red circle tell allowing for dodging out of. Blast finisher.
Thief – Summons at 300 range from target, stealth+heartseeker for x damage + poison for 2s. Leap finisher
Ranger – Summons at 1200 range from target, fires an arrows, immobilizing target for 1s.
Engineer – Summons at 900 range from target, throws wrench hitting 3 times split between 3 targets if in range causing daze, confusion, immobilize for 1s.
Necromancer – Summons at 1200 range from target, laying down poison well with duration 5s if not triggered, 2s if triggered. Poison field.
Mesmer – Summons on player, lays down portal (only for mesmer), blinks to target (1200 range) and lays down exit portal. Portals last for 2s.
For PvE, there can be generic phantasms based on type(?) that either strictly damage or perform some utility. I don’t have the knowledge of all the types of enemies nor the time to think up some for all of them but simple things like damage/AOE damage/casting conditions/casting boons etc can all be fair game.
Apperance: Phantasms would take on generic race/class appearance or generic type of PvE mob (ie. trees/skale/generic looking boss phantasm)

So looking back, even I can tell it’s sounding pretty OP, especially the invulnerable part. It could always just have more HP/increased defense from AOE or something so that the elite wouldn’t just be like our other phantasms that get one-shotted. But I think it could definitely be tweaked and adjusted so that it wasn’t OP and would be a super fun elite. It brings on more strategy with which class to target and clone specifically, or which mob, and I don’t think it’s so OP that all mesmers would be running it all the time. Time warp will still have its use, MOA will still have it’s non-use, mass invis would still be useful and this one would also have its uses.
Again, I know it may be OP with how I’ve presented it or some people might not like what I’ve chosen for the skills but the cool thing is, that could all be up for debate from us, the devs, anyone. I had fun trying to come up with unique/useful/not OP (probably failed haha) skills and would genuinely love running with this elite.

If true, the warrior could backfire easily. They cleanse the confusion and weakness and are left now with the quickness.
Ugh both of the ones for my fav class are kinda junk, mesmer and necro. O look more do damage to self to hurt enemies stuff and of course it will get gutted once its live and transform elites hurt anyone who has minions.

Yes, give a light-armored profession that relies on active defenses (blinks, stealth, invulnerability) an elite that removes all of these abilities and their illusions so they can get in melee range and bash on their target and somehow miraculously survive.
Honestly, it sounds terrible. An elite that summoned a phantasm would be good. Even a signet elite. But not this. It’s so counter-intuitive to the profession’s design and play-style.
This exactly. I’d love for an elite summoned phantasm. Becoming a phantasm AND losing all of our existing phantasms is just a bit much for me without knowing further details.

No I think it sounds just like a thief using mug+basilisk venom. Except thieves get to do that every 45 seconds instead of every 60.
That aside, I believe signet of chaos would be a very nice, but not overpowered, elite skill. What are your thoughts?

Doppleganger – Summons a phantasm that has all of the mesmer’s stats and mimics all of the mesmer’s actions for 8 to 10 seconds.
The most obvious use of this would be to double dps but it could also be used to dump double the supply into a siege weapon or revive twice as fast.

I would honestly hope that “proposed” Elite is a bad joke/troll attempt. Because, quite honestly, it looks Over 9000% stupid. You want to muck about with Transforms on a Mesmer, transforming the Mesmer themselves is the wrong approach.
Now, conversely, something that allows the Mesmer to outright freaking mold an area surrounding them into a nightmarish alternate reality? Now, you’re cooking with Plutonium!
