There aren’t many dev posts on any of the profession forums. That’s just not how ArenaNet rolls. It doesn’t mean they’re ignoring something completely.

Mixing insults with your post is like pooping in a salad.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.

got curious and decided to check every profession board for the most recent red post and it would appear that ANet hasn’t on any of the professions boards in “about a month (ago)”

Perhaps they’re being busy little bees and workin on something big? Hmmmmm? HmmmmmmmmMMMMMMMM???

ANet’s communication with players sucks. Sucks hard. Really hard. But maybe there’s some hope. Here’s a post I ran across in the General Discussion forum by Colin Johanson, Game Director. To me, this should have been in the News and Announcement forum or an ANet blog post, where people other than those that happen to read down to page 3 of the Discussion forum can see it:

Hey guys,
Just to help provide some clarity on this, we’ll be releasing within the next couple of weeks a high level summary of our big plans for the first half of 2013 to help provide more transparency into our plans with the game going forward. This will include providing more details about our goals for the game, information about the stories and features that you’ll see in the Jan/Feb/March releases.

To set expectations accordingly, the January release will be a relatively small release that sets the table for the stories and features we plan to roll out with the Feb/March releases and beyond. Also, there will be no new race, profession, or new region with these larger Feb/March releases. One of our major goals with these releases is making our existing world as strong as possible, ensuring there are reasons to go to all the locations in the world we’ve already built, and strengthening the core game we’ve provided. In saying this will be an expansions worth of stuff in these releases, we’re talking about the number of new features that will be rolled out across PvE, WvW, and PvP in early 2013, which usually you’d only find in an expansion for a traditional MMORPG.

More details and specifics to come in the next couple of weeks, but I hope that helps provide some more insight into what to expect at a very high level.
========

What sucks is that he doesn’t even mention any focused effort toward bug fixes, unless one wants to insinuate that from “making our existing world as strong as possible” and “strengthening the core game”. If so, just say it then, kitten and don’t prance about with marketing fluff phrases!

Holidays guys. Consider it.
More communication would always be nice though, especially since that post a while ago about how they will communicate more in the future (can’t be bothered searching for it on my phone, think it was after the ascended controversy if anyone feels the need.)

This is one of my major gripes with the company, when they first launched they were quick to highlight the fact they have numerous teams working on different aspects of the game.

Unfortunately it looks like none of these teams is a communication team and although I can understand that that they are busy and we cant expect a ton of information constantly. The slowness and lack of response despite highlighting they are reading the forums is still concerning and frustrating.

People do not like to be left in the dark and I myself do not expect them to answer every single question or have input to every single post. There is alot of sub sections in the forum and its impossible to do that. But what I would hope is that we at least get a response or some information on a more frequent basis than what is happening now.

There is alot of concerns through out the various sections and with the lack of information its only adding to the frustration of players. There is only so long people can go without any communication before they will just give up and leave.

Well, as I logged in tonite I saw on the client that Colin Johanson has a post today on the GW2 News section, detailing a bit more of their plans:

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/colin-johanson-on-guild-wars-2-in-the-months-ahead/?utm_source=client

For some reason, this isn’t listed in the forum’s News & Announcements section.

A few things I saw:

  • “addressing bugs as quickly as possible when they are reported”
  • Paid server transfers
  • Ascended gear from tokens earned via open world achievements
  • Guild-oriented content

I want to believe….
