AoE weapon damage
I use scepter and dagger / staff. Nice aoe dmg. Use epidemic also. If you have 3-4 mobs around you. And just watch them die

Yes we have AoE, but most AoE are condition damage and not power damage. We need more power damage AoE.
Wells are great aoe. For power builds
This has been widely discussed. Necro lacks any decent form of sustained direct damage aoe. We have semi sustained condi aoe and we have burst power aoe. But no decent aoe/cleave on an auto attack. And we definately need it.
Wells are fine until the person walks out of them (wells)…..
Basically they are solid for PvE and spamming for loot bags, but you won’t get any solid DPS out of them in WvW unless the person is hard cc’ed in place.
They are good for PvE though.

Axe skill #1 and #2 are like a huge, big claw slashing the enemy. Why can’t it cleave just like swords, greatswords, or even melee axe? I wouldn’t mind for axe to have the same dps as it is currently, because it was ranged and you can move while casting #2, so yeah, comparing the damage to 100b isn’t unfair. But please Dev team, just make it cleave. We need it to cleave because not all of us likes to use staff at massive battles (or being forced to use it).
Besides, I suppose that making axe cleave wouldn’t make it suddenly overpowered.

Which is why it does far less damage, still no reason why it shouldn’t cleave.

Bouncing is even better, than a small radius cleave.

And being nearly useless. Ranger mainhand axe is one of the worst weapons ingame.

Necromancers realy need any possibility to do cleavedmg, or direct dmg aoe with low cooldown.
Dagger/Axe, a new weapon i don´t care but it is needed. Epidemic AoE is not soo high. And it´s conditionbased. Powermancers AoE is bad.

But Power based build has serious problems with AoE.

the more on-hit/-crit stuff you can get a hold of, the better, i guess. i mean, for that kind of situation, where you get to pierce a bunch of stuff.
I realize well that we do have staff and lb that have lots of aoe and could pierce. But they are not cleaves, technically. And what we need is a slashing weapon that actually cleaves on their auto attack (not only 1 or two skills, too unreliable).
I think re working the axe auto to a cone like attack makes sense (slowly points to guard staff auto). That way the programmers wouldnt have to put the animation on each person. Yes definitely add axe #2 to behave this way as well.
Necromancers can do some good power aoe. Deathshroud #4, #5, and pierce, wells, the exploding minions, axe#3, warhorn and focus. By the way, warhorn and focus do no condition damage.
Just combine the wells with deathshround’s 50% bonus crit, and the fury when you use deathshroud trait, and you will be doing some very good aoe damage even without investing in precision.

Thats because you imagine long cd aoe that equates to 1 ele meteor or fire #2 to be effective over time.
Looking at the past changes such as Deathly Perception, Near to Death, Vital Persistence, increased life force gain from skills, Spectral skills buffed and available to be used in DS, buffed DS health, Transfusion and other stuff you may like to add and the upcoming ones such as Dhuumfire procced on Life Blasts, I think its clear the devs intention is to encourage offensive (and to an extent defensive) DS play. In that mindset, refraining from introducing cleave to AAs can point the players towards Unyielding Blast and DS gameplay, so that means we might wait a lot longer than we know for a change in AAs. That said, with practice Life Blasts can pierce through most enemies successfully in situations – usually when the enemies are stacked – where other players can effectively cleave, while inflicting vulnurability and hopefully burning (the new Dhuumfire) to all enemies it hits up to 1200 range; so its not that bad as a sustained power aoe IMO.

We shouldnt be asking for a change in auto attacks. Thats unrealistic. We should just be asking for the next weapon we get to be a cleave auto attack.

There is no Source,a polearm weapon was found by data mining.

It isnt a spear,it says Polearm under Exotic.I was on my Necro when it was linked and it said Weapon type unusable.
I see this as good news. There is no reason Necromancer cannot have cleave if the weapon’s overall dps and CC are in line with expectations. I have been asking for a 2H short range weapon with cleave, Bleed, Torment, Blind and whatever else to fill a gap in Necromancer’s tool set for a single-target Bleed applicator to compliment the scepter. Staff is primarily AoE, which is not always desired.
The other gap is in single-target long range where, again, staff is not ideal.
