Hi i have Question what is best looking race for necro? .. thanks for answers

Sylvari… even if my Charr necro would probably give me some nasty disease for saying it. Do not go Charr btw, endgame light armors look like crap on them, except for Flame Legion armor that is, which is not very suitable for a necro anyway.

I have a Charr and an Asura necro. I like them both (I’d post pics, but I’m at work.)

I do have to agree that the Charr light armor mostly sucks.

Im actually quite happy with my female norn necro, it sounds wierd but it kinda suits.. I see her as a kind of dark tribal shaman, gonna post her in the above linked topic!

Male charr necro here and sadly i have to agree.
Most of the armor looks bad.
its stretched, tails clip through, many headpieces cut off the horns, the cultural armor is mostly bad too.
And you have to wear kittening skirts all the time; i only found 2 actual pants for light armor in the entire game, and they look rather bad on charr aswell.

you could try out a female tho.

Norn: you rarely see norn-necros, but when you see them, theyre usually awesome. plus, the tattos. and as one of the norn-necros i met so far said: “it fits. norn are huge, which means they have more blood for sacrifices and rituals and stuff”

Human or Asura.
Char are ok too with the right armor.
Sylvari are decent.

I really like my Sylvari necro, but I like Norn necros a lot too.

I have a norn necro, and I enjoy the look. I am trying to go for a corrupted ice/svanir look with svanir armor and frostfang, corrupted weapons, etc, with the starter wraith eyes. It will capture both a necromancer and a norn in one outfit

My Norn necro has the exact same tattoos lol! I say norn necro because mine looks intimidating the way she holds her staff. Even while holding an axe or dagger in the main hand and a warhorn it makes her also look like a huntress/shaman. I roll with vigil legs and boots and T2 cultural chest and T1 shoulders

well i made my human necro with dark makeup around the eye and she is rather pale with dark long hair and very short.

get the right armor and the eye bandages and u got urself a rather sweet lookin necro

Asura, charr and maybe norn with CoF or Arah armor.

Honestly, you’d be find picking any race except Charr. I’m not aware of any single armor set that looks outstanding on a Charr. Passable, maybe, but not outstanding.

I like my necro. I don’t have a pic but I was going for the whole shaman thing. And would be interesting.

Looks-wise Id go with Sylvari, but Asura Necromancers get pain inverter, which in WvW is a great 1 button anti-thief/ele/allround defense mechanism.

Its not just for necromancers but male light armor norns stick out because you just never see them. Especially when you rock t1/t2 cultural gear.
I also use the malefactorum and deathwish cause both look awesome. Currently using the t1 cultural scepter skin (its bones on a stick!) until I can grind up enough to use lidless eye/eye of rodgort

I think charr cultural armor in general looks like the most perfect thing ever for necros, tier 3 is just orgasmic for a necro look (sad there’s no tail hole though…). The head pieces are just fantastic if nothing else.

My main is a male human necro (very basic, very obvious) and I use Arah armor just due to the lack of necro-like light armor in this game…

Also out of all cultural light armors I was most disappointed with human. Sure every race’s cultural armor might be SLIGHTLY better suited for one or another class (honestly just barely) but human light armor was obviously made for specific classes.

Tier 1 is garbage, what were they thinking when they made something that looks so plain, boring and generally bad. Tier 2 is clearly meant for a mesmer, and honestly though if the top piece didn’t have that mesmer-like mask stuck on the arm, I would even get it. Tier 3 is obviously meant for an elementalist and looks like rubbish on a necro.

In generel I think if you don’t care about your race other than something that goes well with necro, charr is the way to go (norn’s pretty good too).

This is also true for joining the orders (vigil, priory, whispers), when picking a side I didn’t know they had specific armors you could buy, even less did I know you could only buy the ones you joined, even less did I know you’d NEVER be able to buy any other… I mean we should have gotten told these things, somehow, somewhere in game when first starting the game.

I’m just sad I’m doomed to never have the necro mask I want, and be stuck with the choice of a HIDEOUS priory light armor.

Depends on what you looks you want to go for. If you want Maleficent type of look then Norn Female.

You can create a new necro with that mask in another character slot. The mask will be soulbound, but if you transmute it to a basic white headpiece from a vendor it is no longer bound. Then, put it in your bank, and have your 80 character pick it up. AFAIK, that ability hasn’t changed with the last patch.

As for the Order armor, I agree that the player really gets duped by the insufficiency of advice/warning of the consequences when choosing an order.

I’m sorry, but I’m not sold. AND you’re not using the full thing. The full set looks like a raggedy stove with legs. Or a 15 year old kid’s idea of “cool”: LOOK, IT HAS FIRE AND FLAMES! IT’S AWESOME! EPIC!

Individual pieces may work, but the full set is an aesthetic disaster.

But when you transmute something doesn’t it become soulbound? So if I made a new necro and made it transmute its mask, it’d just get soulbound to him again, right?

Edit: Oh! I just used a friend’s account to test this out and yeah it becomes account bound instead of soulbound for WHATEVER reason! Sadly though I have no character slots left in my account, and I’m not willing to delete any of my characters, AND I already bought a character slot, so buying another one just for the mask… I dunno :c

Big fan of the look mate, one of the best looks I’ve seen, you’ve done really well with that one. I honestly don’t usually like the Norn Necro aesthetic, so much respect!

I’d say any race can make a good necro. Though there really aren’t many good looking light armors for charr. But even for other races there’s really only a couple of light armors that look the part of necromancer attire. My necro got a set of the shadow/dry bones armor early on and has yet to find anything better. It’s kind of a shame really, in GW1 necro armor was always my favorite and my necro had over half the elite armors in the game.

I don’t know about armor yet, since my necro is quite low level, but Charr in Death Shroud looks sick.

Sylvary necro mainly because Arah gear looks best on them. Human look like crap it’s funny when I stand beside them and I’m the best looking necro. It’s just more evil and intimidating. Asura with arah gear are cool too but more in the cute way.

CoF armor on a Charr ele would be epic… Flame Shamany stuff ya know. But other than that I think CoF is very overrated for looks, and I think most wear it just because CoF is the easiest and fastest dungeon out there.

And why oh why does Cultural Armor have to cost a kitten friggin fortune? As a person who does not like farming this game feels more and more like an asian grind game. First do the same eventually boring dungeon over and over again 20 times then farm a tonne of gold to get a the cultural set because everything else looks crappy on Charr. For that gold I can get several exotics to that have useful stats on em instead.

Shove an armor piece or weapon usable by your class into that end reward instead of those tokens that you need 2000 of.

This is all you need to know on this topic. I would change my Sylvari in a heartbeat to to Asura (and I think they look extremely stupid). Being so small is a great advantage in WvW, and he already mentioned the huge racial ability.

I chose to go for a charr and I don’t regret it. When I saw how the mask was like on a charr, I just couldn’t go for anything else and it inspired me his entire look.

Making charr necro was the biggest mistake ive made so far in this game.

My necro is a human because I wanted to recreate my first beta weekend character, but she’s too pretty to really fit the image. I quite like Asura as necros as they are quite creepy even when they’re cute. It’s the teeth.

I am biased but:

Depends on how much you shroud.

Charr necro is maximum evil until it unshrouds. Asura looks like an ink blot when it shrouds. Max size Norn blacks out the sky.

If, for nothing else, Asura would be the best choice (especially if you go condition build) because of pain inverter. I made mine sylvari though and it looks pretty awesome.

I made a Charr black furr and long horns, he looks like a demon… I like it

But yes… skins for light armor sucks on Charr.
