I’ve tried and I just can’t find a good use for it. The self-Weakness,etc. is too detrimental and the damage output is too trivial.

Have you found a reason to put it on your skill bar?

Condition builds really don’t care about the self-imposed weakness.

In WvW and PvP, it is way too situational to usually equip on your skill bar. Best place to use it is against a tower lord, since the circle they stand in is roughly the same size as the Cloud, ensuring that the Lord and all of his bodyguards are poisoned and weakened to make it easier to kill (as well as any enemy players hanging around there trying to stop you).

In PvE, the best use is against bosses, especially the more stationary ones (Bloomhunger and Old Tom come to mind in fractals).

The self-imposed Weakness is barely a detriment to condition/crit builds and it usually either gets transferred or used for extra healing (just like the vulnerability on Epidemic).

It has its uses, but it isn’t one for solo roaming.

It is a decent enough comb-field (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Combo) but for the most part no, its mostly not very good unless like Drarnor mentioned, something is stupid enough to stand in it
Big problem… one of many I guess is that the necro doesn’t have many finishers.

Changing it to targeted such as BiP would make it more useful. With a combo of BiP, this cloud, epidemic and offhand dagger(4) it could be VERY nice for PvE, but as has been said moving out of the areas is quite easy for an AoE and as such the negatives outweigh the positives by a rather large margin. The poison field aspect of the skill could be made to center on the target instead of the area thus making it a nice roaming field too.

That’s pretty much what Signet of Spite does, except with an insanely long CD.

I use it all the time for roaming, bosses, fractals, pretty much everything unless the specific situation dictates me to use wells instead. This is actually a very powerful skill and it amazes me that no one has figured out how to use it yet. Don’t fear self inflicted conditions (ie corruptions), tons of things you can do with them, its like holding a pocket full of insta-condition for whenever you need it (or extra heals, personally I LOVE it even as a direct dps necro, not just a condition one, when I get loaded down with conditions, I usually let them sit for a bit then pop consume and wa-la, instant full health and retaliation cause I use the trait for it). I think it’s fine as a ground target, in fact I prefer it because I can get myself setup before the fight, if it were insta-target I couldn’t throw it a little ahead of the enemy so that when they run to me they wind up directly in it. Don’t fear the corruption…embrace it O_O

offhand dagger grants aoe weakness + bleed which is much better imo
I prefer to use well instead of this poison

If with staff chillblains + putrid mark = aoe weakness

If you’re an Asura I just roll with Radiation field

Well the first step towards this skill is to see it as a weakness field first, and one that causes poison at that. Weakness is preh good. I use it occasionally in PvE, always vs the Legendary Searing Effigy (ironically for the poison this time). Wouldn’t dare use it in PvP.

There is one particular boss in CoF that self heals and going off to try CoF with my mesmer friend he said for me we needed heavy poison to stop the health regenerating. I am so use to all my condition damage being bleeds, I had to scroll through all my weapons and skills. I found this poison field ability, that stacked with Chillblains and your staff’s auto attack make a self poison combo.
I use to use Well of Suffering as one of my main skills but not only can I place the poison cloud anywhere i want, it stays there longer than a staff mark and enemies standing in it go down far faster.
I love it.

Hileron even the staff poison can last longer because of the projectile finishers so its not a big problem unless the target runs around ofc

I equip it at certain boss fights (‘cause I sometimes forget to switch my uti’s :p) if I see that no other party member puts weakness on the bosses and if the party feels a bit too squishy. If it’s a steamrolling party, I unleash hell with all my condition abilities.

When you’re traited to reduce recharge on corruption skills, this coupled with blood is power is a game winner. it’s gotten ot the point that the people I usually do runs with get mad when I don’t bring it lol, because using offhand dagger #5 along with this, I can upkeep weakness 99% of the time as well as tick off massive amounts of condition damage.
