Greater Marks
I personally have been running Greater Marks since the betas and I can’t deal with the smaller marks. Also, not having “unblockable” takes ages when I’m fighting a simple Ascalonian Fighter in Plains of Ashford because I can’t do anything through their blocks and I have to wait like 5 sec for them to stop.
sux a lil but i can live without it
í won’t swap reaper’s protect for GM trait
I would like to get my Greater Marks again
but that DM trait line is horrible and i dunno where is the logic behind spending 20 points on useless minor traits if not playing Minion Master build and we simply suffer all of that just to get greater marks !!
I’m thinking seriously to play another profession… since beta and with each new patch Arenanet keep proving one thing —-> they can’t fix necro and they keep make it worse i’m affraid that necro will stay unstable profession forever and necro community will never stop complaining and other players will never stop saying that necro is OP & unbalanced class
its time to live without greater marks mate, or just spend 20 points into DM if you feel bad without it, or you can do like what i did for PvE and replace the staff itself with another weapon
I’ve been using staff as a secondary weapon for ages and didn’t trait greater marks and did just fine before so for me it’s simply an awesome buff. I can see why you feel crippled by this if you’ve felt you had to use greater marks to make the staff usable but imo it works fine. I’m primarly using staff in wvw and I have no problems there either, guess I’m lucky I never got myself used to greater marks as a standard…
IMO make all marks larger. Then consolidate the unblockable and 20% reduced cooldown traits and leave it a master trait. Then add some new trait in.
The old marks were 120, the traited are 240, 180 is half way between them, so they are indeed much larger, they are in fact 50% larger. Am i feeling just fine with 180 radius? Yes, it’s more than enough for me when i run 30/20/0/0/20, even when i switch builds and use Gmarks, i hardly notice the difference.
You must adjust, you will adjust, if you’ve used Gmarks the entire time up until now only to start using smaller marks for “a few days” then it deserves more practice.

120 → 180 radius: +125% surface area
120 → 240: +300%
180 → 240: +78%
I never used GM and I was so happy when they got bigger. So much easier to fear people from walls in WvW

I’m fine with Greater Marks as it is statistically. I just think the Death Magic line is kind of rubbish to invest in, unless you are playing a minion build. I wish they would put Greater Marks in an attribute line that makes more sense, and is easier to combine in other builds.

You heard it here Anet, put minion traits in the BM line

I don’t use GM anymore in most of my builds. Although I need to redo my PvE build, so that remains to see; but all my minion builds have gotten rid of it and enjoyed the buffs.
I dumped GM and it feels the same to me. But staff has always been a swap weapon for me.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
I’m missing unblockable but the size is just fine.
Its much better than what it was like without GM before patch since I can still block most bridges and choke points. I happened to play a long time without GM before patch however, and I can tell you it is much much better.

I’ve played with 120 radius marks. It was a nightmare to land a 0.75 sec mark on moving targets.
I still thank ANet for that hell, because it improved my gameplay: I can predict movements more reliably under various circumstances now, which also helps for scepter #2 and dagger #5.
180 radius was a night and day difference.
As for the unblockability, now I look more carefuly for aegis before I land an important mark. That habit also improved my gameplay: I see all “dangerous boons” with just a quick glance, and act accordingly.
