I’m talking about things like weapon racks, graveling burrows, barrels and so on.

The build I use is this:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNAW7YjMat7pbyb8bKApCXPV47oHEbcyUKWPdA;TsAgyCuo+y8l4L7XuvkftEZIyOAA

Its got some power, but its mainly condition damage.

Staff doesn’t work too well. The marks don’t trigger.

The scepter as well, it does fairly low damage.

Seems I’m stick to staff auto attack or wasting my death shroud.

Comparing this to me direct damage, grenades engineer, is pretty painful.

send your minions after it, especially the flesh golem. oh wait a minute, those things jut usually run up to the structure and stair at it, unless you blow their cooldown skill. SWEET!

The flesh minion’s charge hits some structures about 10 times though.

What kKagari said, I usually run with Plague form, but if I need to down a structure I’ll switch to Flesh Golem and have him change and beat on it.

Also you can try Focus OH #4. The attack hurts a lot and if you can bounce it between yourself and the structure you can do quite a bit of damage. Or just Spam 1 for MH Dagger, even with only a little power, it attacks much faster than anything the staff or scepter can putout.

Reiterating what everyone said with the Flesh Golem. It even attacks structures you don’t command it to.

I think Scepter 2 works as well. Structures don’t suffer from condition damage which is logical but detrimental to necros, especially those who usually use Dagger/Dagger. Staff auto is slower in terms of DPS compared to scepter auto for AC burrows.

Looks like the forums broke your link.

Lich Form works well in a pinch, but it has a long cooldown.
I tend to slap a Well of Suffering on the burrows and use Death Shroud.
Although Scepter deals horrible damage to burrows it doesn’t fire projectiles and thus very rarely gets “Obstructed!”.

If given the option I usually volunteer to just play defense instead.
I’ve gotten pretty alright at the fine art of not dying.

Let’s hope that the condi vs objects fix is in the next patch.

Best damage you can deal to these structures is:

Wells + Dagger/focus.

The two damaging wells + focus 4 + dagger 1 spam should be the highest possible direct damage avaible to necros.

We have no access to a power based “aoe” or “cleave” weapon, which is the reason for our lackluster power-builds.

Respec to destoy, say, a weapon rack? What a nice idea!
…Oh, wait. No. It is not.
What other class abokittenely HAS TO respec in order to damage structures? I don’t know any. Do you?

To my knowledge all of them.
Anybody running a Condition build without Power deals horrible damage to objects.
It’s not like buildings take any damage from a Condition Mesmer’s Confusion stacks either.

Thing is as far as I know very few people run any Profession other than a Necro with just Conditions.
From what I’ve read Condition Damage is somewhat underpowered for everyone.
However Necromancer’s Power builds are so underpowered that even the Condition builds are better.

Kind of funny when you consider how many people think that Necromancer is somehow supposed to be the best Condition damage Profession. lol

Well thanks guys.

Guess there is no hope with a conditions build.

Gonna have to change things to do what power builds do naturally.

Seriously… do power builds have any disadvantage when compared to condition builds?

5 power builds= 5 useful people.
5 condition builds= 4 useless people
5 power builds= 5 people hitting structures
5 condition builds= 5 people tickling structures

Didn’t a red post say they wanted to work on a solution that made condition builds more viable when targetting destructible objects, but it was going to be hard work? I can’t remember or find it. Then again I am pre-coffee right now. :P

As for how I take them down these days, since I also run a condition-based build with some power out in the world, if I can I will lure an enemy over to the structure and use my staff marks. The marks themselves cannot be set off by destructible objects, but a mark detonating will damage the structure. So, generally I grab a mob to help speed up the process.

agreed. if i see a weapon rack or catapult i just send my flesh golem after it using the charge skill. maybe toss a dot or two onto it but thats about it other than auto-attack. while i do get annoyed like others that the flesh golem will then go on a short rampage of destroying all items in the immediate vicinity, i’ll walk off and do something else.

Mesmer has the same problem. Not only are your conditions useless but confusion and feedback are ineffective against anything that doesn’t fight back.

I carry an axe around, regardless of build.

Yeah, it’s slow going when specced for conditions. I typically drop a well or two on it and try and get my stupid flesh golem to actually attack it and not stand still looking pretty. (ugly) or switch a weapon out to axe or dagger if I have to do a lot of them.

Well, if this is PvE, Flesh Golem is still the better elite to pick over Plague and Lich form. Not sure about racials, but Flesh Golem, even with the limited AI, will do considerably more damage since it lasts until death.
