If you REALLY hate necros jumping off cliffs, why not just have it work with fall damage?
Its obviously coded differently than damage, because its not affected by protection/block/aegis

Dunno about you but I usually didn’t use my Death Shroud at 10% to begin with.
Also if I’m right we used to take double damage to Death Shroud… meaning they basically doubled our hit points in Death Shroud.
I could be wrong of course, but old tests with Agony seemed to indicate it.
I didn’t expect it to affect everything, though.
It annoys me, and it is going to make us weaker in certain situations for a while, but I think it opens the door for more strength to be given to DS and LF generation now.

just shows what a fail bunch are working on this game when they find bugs of this magnitude this late in the game.
old life force bug, downed health, simple traits not fixed for almost a year.
It now makes DS more useless in PVE. Without Vigor, in some boss fight where endurance can’t regen fast enough, I use DS to soak it up. now it will eat into my health NOT COOL.

I really disliked the way thieves sometimes evaporated my entire DS in a couple swipes… I dont know their class well but it always left me going .. “huh?” If this is much improved then I dont care about the nerfs, its worth it.

I’ve done Arah path 1 for the very first time last sunday evening. It was the first time for the whole party. None of us has encountered Lupi before. I actually didn’t dodge very much; yet I only got downed like 2 times and killed one time (which was when we wiped). We only wiped once at Lupi; in the second try it went quite smooth.
I don’t see why you would need vigor (or DS) for Lupi unless you insist on melee-ing him.
I withhold judgement until after I see how the damage adjustment in DS is changed. The only thing I can say for sure is that Arenanet wants Necromancer in DS more often.
Improving Spectral skills with more LF generation might make them mire attractive but it also adds complexity by forcing Spectral builds to also pay more attention to DS in both build and play.
I like the change to staff marks, though. Larger marks will be easier to use in PvE and sPvP so people will not feel as compelled to take GM.

Im sorry but removing our 1% LF go to hell burst effect of DS is stupid…. as a matter of fact making DS not reverse you to where you entered it is stupid and removing shade was stupid. The marks will probably be nice but unless DS jumps still work, ill be leveling my asura ele.

Meleeing him is actually quite smart, a lot of his normal phase hits dont work on melee targets/have way weaker effects, ofc you need to care about grubs, bubble and jesus float time.
How were they not compelled to give us healing in ds after making this change? I’m not even mad, i’m just in awe at the blatant mismanagement and the fact that they have no idea how to handle DS.
My biggest concern is the ‘gap’ between being in DS and reverting back to normal form. I am guessing this will act like lag and cause many deaths. Here is the scenario:
I have 2k of health and 3k of ‘DS health’. I get hit for 4.5k of dmg. 1.5k of the gets pushed right into our health, but we haven’t made the transition back from DS so we can’t hit our heal. That would leave me with just 500 left in which to heal up. Now being there is no numbers associated with the DS health bar, I can’t really tell just how much dmg I can absorb. Just seeing 1/2 a bar doesn’t tell me anything.
I see the DS changes as an overall buff, at least for PvP.
Using that last 10% of LF to take a huge isn’t available anymore, but in practice this situation is rather rare. This situation is more common in 1v1’s but still doesn’t nerf DS or LF much. And in tournaments a Necro should never 1v1.
But on top of that, taking less damage now in DS essentially increases the overall survivability of Necros with greater than 10% LF.
My only gripe is the 1 second of time my utilities are unavailable after getting hit out of DS, rather frustrating.

No, 90% of them probably play mesmer because in patches they seem to get the most love.

Terror: Reduced the damage by 17%. Fixed a bug so this trait now checks for the torment condition as well.
