Issues with Grasping Darkness
Are you sure that you are facing the target? This skill is set to only fire if you are facing your target. It won’t turn you around for that.
Yes ofc i am. I have over 7000 hours played were most are inside of wvw so i am aware of the way you fight and how to use your skills, and this is not a issue that happen because i do not face enemies.
I also first thought that maybe it was due to lag, because i play on a higher tier wvw server with a lot of heavy zerg fights around, but i can’t really say that this is the case, unless this particular skill is easy affected by lag, but everything else is working as intended. The people that i talk to that say the same thing (also them very competent wvw players) and can’t releate it to lag.
i get the same issue in pve a lot, in fact sometimes even if im facing target it will give me an error “invalid target” or some such, idefk
also i got a problem with reaper 2 skill, when i use it sometimes i just spin in place on a completely flat surface LMAO
I also experience similar issues with this skill. I often see it go on CD with no animation, or sometimes the claws will come out, go right across someone, and there will be no effect. No stability, no immunity, no evade. Just does and says nothing.
Engineer has the only reliable pull in game. The rest of us how have used pull’s for some time have just come to accept they don’t work with 100% assured.
generally any movement or pull skill benefits greatly from;
1) Don’t use it at max range.
2) If the target side sides, regardless if it is unblockable, move on..it wont work.
3) The animation of the pull and the actual pull are not the same thing. The animation will make you believe it can pull from further away than it actually can.
4) Only engineers pull operates via flight of the crow, all other pulls will account for every bump and gnarl in the terrain.
5) Dont use them on inclines.
6) Don’t use them on declines.
You’ll notice the same with teleports. Some can be used through walls and up great heights, others can’t. Some will teleport over traps, others won’t. End story,..they’re unreliable.
I’ve gotten to the point I use it as an interrupt when fighting face to face. It’s too wonky to use as a pull.

I beg your pardon! Been engi main for a very long time, the magnet is by far the most buggy move in the game, had been patched a million times and still to this day has a low success rate. So all pulls in the game are all the same. Saying this or that move is bugged as far as pulls go is not true. Its the pull mechanic that needs fixing.
it’s buggy as hell somtimes the enemy just get hit by it, you see the dmg numbers, but no pull(with no stab on em) or its just make them trip.
Also note that the pull itself happens when the animation hands coming back to you, so enemy might spot that and side step it just before the hands returns and you would think it didnt worked.
Also when you about to use it and enemy moving to your far left or right it will enter short cooldown.
in general i suggest that you use it while jumping it avoids bumpers block and such
