I wanna play DS Necromancer for high survivalibity. What weapon is fastest at generating life force and what skills should I use (signet of undeath is obvious)? Before I had scepter/dagger condition build, but I think DS is better. Also, how I should spend my traits? Now I’m 47 lv. and I think I shoukld finally choose my build for PvE.

the fastes weapon would be staff, LF on auto-attack and you can trait it to get LF with every mark, for skills well you could use spectral skills and trait them to get even faster LF
and you dont have to “finally choose a PVE build” because you can change your traits whenever you want for cheap money, just play around and test what´s the best for you, you can copy a build online but that is boriing, testing your own builds is better imo

Well, for what its worth, this is the build I am using for PVE. It feels pretty robust and I can absorb a lot of beatings.

I use 6 x Runes of the Necromancer and most armor pieces are also Power/Vitality/Cond Dmg. I have a large DS pool due to having a large health pool.

(I swear Anet changed something in the last day or so – I used to have 28K+ health and last nite it was only 26K+).

Via the thread here you’ll notice that dagger is probably your best bet for life force generation. Staff is an amazing alternative, but only becomes more efficient if you’re piercing multiple mobs pet auto attack.

Don’t feel pigeon-holed into a specific trait set-up. It’s extremely inexpensive to respec and try out various builds. Find what works for you.

As for TheAgedGnome, did you make sure you weren’t being down-leveled? Or that you weren’t using a vitality food buff when you noticed the 28k health pool?

Yes, I was in the same zone last night as previous nights and it sill showed me as 80 (I too thought I was being down-leveled) and I don’t use food buffs (I’m so n00b!). But maybe I did eat something I picked up as loot, and didn’t pay attention? Hmm, I’m not sure now.

For life force generation, I would personally use either Axe/focus, staff(traited staff or its not as good), or axe/focus, dagger/warhorn. Axe and focus together give the most LF, as #4 focus reaper’s touch i believe or something close- gives 12% LF, which is as much as 4 AA’s from staff, OR ALL of the marks being used WITH the trait. So focus is good for it, axe gives a goodly amount from its #2 ability as well. So you get a lot of bang for your weapon set with those 2, and dagger’s AA is really good for farming up LF if you can afford and are able to be in melee range.

I’m using a power build myself while leveling my necro, and with the LF on crit trait and using dagger/warhorn, axe/focus I find it filling up incredibly fast. Staff is alright once you get the traits, but weapon swapping between axe 2 and dagger autoattack with locust swarm is quite fast.

I was thinking about doing this as well for pve and am gonna use axe/focus + staff with Soul Marks & Greater Marks (you gain lifeforce per enemy hit so greater radius should be terrific)
