There have been posts about useless traits, but how about those that dont even work…..

Did you know

Minor Traits:
?Target the Weak (gain 2% damage for each condition) does not apply to condition damage.
?Vampiric only returns 25 health per hit. Don’t worry though, you can trait for 50% more return when siphoning health and it increases to 29 health per hit.
?Blood to Power (5% more damage when above 90% hp) does not work with condition damage.
?Last Grasp (gain spectral armor at 50% hp) does not apply protection when it procs, even though the skill Spectral Armor does.
?Gluttony (Increase lifeforce gain by 5%) does nothing.
?Strength of the undead (5% more damage above 50% life force) does not apply to condition damage
? Hemophilia (20% bleed duration) doesnt stack with the grand master trait that adds 33% duration on scepter bleeds.

Major Traits:
?Chill of Death (cast spinial shivers when a target reaches 25% hp) has an internal cooldown of 15 seconds.
?Close to Death (20% more damage when target below 50%) does not apply to condition damage.
?Chilling Darkness (when you blind, you also chill) does not work with Plague of Darkness (elite ability).
?Weakning Shroud (cast enfeebling blood when entering death shroud) does not apply two bleeds as the skill does.
?Greater Marks (makes marks larger and unblockable) are still blockable.
?Transfusion (heal allies when casting life transfer) does not benefit from +healing or from 50% increased siphoning.
?Mark of Evasion (leave a mark of blood when dodging) does not benefit from Soul Marks, has an internal cooldown, and only applies 2 bleeds instead of 3.

Skills:
?Spectral Wall (gives protection to allies who walk through the wall) states it’s an ethereal field but does not act like one. You cannot combo off of it. If the ability is cast ontop of you, you must move a range of 180 and run back through the wall to obtain the protection buff.
?Signet of the Locust (siphon health from nearby enemies) has it’s heath siphoning reduced when traited for +50% life siphon.
?Corrupt Boon needs line of sight and the target to be in front of you. Corrupt Boon can be dodged/blocked.

General:
?All “when entering death shroud” traits have a 10 second timer, making the 5 seconds death shroud grand master talent very underwhelming.
?All “more damage” traits never applies to condition damage

I think this is working as intended, just the tool-tip is confusing or misleading. The tool-tip on the skill Spectral armor is:

  • “Gain life force as you take damage. Removed when you enter Death Shroud. Also applies protection.”

I think “Spectral Armor” is the buff that gives you Life Force when hit and the Protection is just a benefit of the skill.

Spectral Wall does work as an ethereal field, it just seems a bit finicky about it, and it only seems to work for projectiles. I think you need to be pretty close to firing through it at a right angle.

Another thing to add to “Close to Death” is that it appears to only be a 10% damage increase.

Mark of Evasion appears to have problems when you have a Mark of Blood from the staff already cast.

Thanks for the info on Corrupt Boon, I was wondering why I couldn’t get it to connect. I think this might be intentional though, because it seems that Anet has been trying to nerf the skill without completely ruining it.

This seems nicer than the other “traits don’t work” thread.

The other one didn’t like the “stability for 3 sec with DS” trait, which I like a lot.

This one I agree with, and it points out several bugs (greater marks I am looking at you.)

chill of death gives the necromancer a -50% attack speed debuff until the target you cast it on dies. Yeah. Try it. Your main attack (your 1 button) will attack 50% slower until your target dies if you used chill of death on them.

The poison cloud trait from minion mastery that puts down a poison cloud if they die: A. Doesn’t do any damage from the poison when I used it (tried multiple times, would give poison debuff but would never tick for damage.) B. Doesn’t proc off minions that you kill yourself or the 5 point passive minions. C. Stacks duration from the same poison cloud, giving you like 40-60 seconds of damage-less poison (which if it did damage would be horribly IMBA.)

you can blow up minions on spectral wall for a 2 second chaos armor buff per minion blast. close to death says 20% increased damage when in only increases damage by 10%d. Fetid consumption passes on condition to every minion but bone minions. most of these bugs have been listed and forwarded in the bug section of these forums to the devs, but it never hurts to have a well organized list just in case these bugs persist.

The bugs with greater marks and mark of blood are that the mark is still blockable (as are others) and that the mark appears on the ground as if it had the smaller radius. It only appears this way however and the mark triggers and applies effects as if it had the large radius granted by greater marks, you can test this out.

The big bug related to greater marks (besides the fact that marks are still blockable) is that chillblains, though it appears when placed with the larger radius and triggers with the larger radius, only applies it’s affects in the smaller radius. Having greater marks makes chillblains worse.

This is actually.. a COMBO VERSION. Although this skill doesn’t always activate when you dodge (not because staff “2” is up already, both can be up at the same time).

But yes you can combo this with ALL of your fields, its the game-changing trait for me in the necro tree. Adds so much depth in terms of all weapons still being able to combo with, and providing you with a heal + bleed. Positioning wise it is also more demanding, so I believe it is reasonable if you risk yourself to activate combo.

So please let this be intended…
