Q:

Guys I am very confused for playing Necromancer in spvp…. My guardian friend has like 4 heals, perma vigor, 4 blinds,4 aegis,4 blocks…..and I compare to him… my question is , what do necro have?? We only have high hp, deathshroud, Retaliation if specced, spectral armors if specced….what more does a necro have ?

You have the best condition MANIPULATION in the game. We have 3 condition transfers (staff 4, dagger 4, and plague signet). Corrupt boon will throw a wrench at any guardian or Blackwater Mesmer. Consume Conditions is one of the best heals in the game!
Focus 5 strips 3 boons, it doesn’t just chill!

You’re also comparing apples to oranges. Support is a guardians thing. Our “thing” is conditions and AoE pressure.

Necro is in a good position, unless you get chain stunned… then it’s just lol.

Both Power and Condition builds are viable, and hopefully after the 15 October patch, we will have decent bunkering ability with the blood magic changes.

Strong in PvP. Needs more utility in PvE for team play so people have a reason to pick us over, say, mesmers or elementalists. We’re too “selfish” at the moment.

Necro’s are “Ok”, outside of condition builds, Power Builds still needs some tweaking. MM Bunkers can be good fun, but the pet pathing is still buggy, minion abilities sometimes dont worth and those minions, well they are just plain dumb.

Loco, he was obviously referencing 30/20/0/0/20 which yes is still OP.

Other than that, no Necros aren’t UP. We’re okay, still in need of improvement but hardly UP. Its just harder to fit the other builds into a cookie cutter comp, you need a bit more thought.

we really need some mobility or heavy armor to survive tons of damage ,on pvp you can lose 15k of your hp flying around when warrior uses his hammer or even engineer can stun you for 7 sec in a row . iam running as condi/tank and we really need more survi .

Our base HP is at least 28k once you figure in LF. You can lose 15k HP and still have about as much as any non-warrior.

yh i know but warrior got 30k and he only used his hammer skills (and he is still full hp) , then he becomes immortal and stun festival begins again

Warriors don’t get base 30k HP, they have the same base HP but without the 60% extra HP scaling we get (if not more).

i have spectated many warriors and trust me they are much harder then necros and many of them got 30k hp but its called heavy armor they must be hard

until you actually know how to play a necro, don’t even think about calling me a troll while you obviously such at necro’s.
i kill whole hordes of enemies while you obviously love to make minions and die because of it, survive a perma stealth thief and we’ll talk.

However power and MM both still feel lacking due to a lack of any cleave or bad minion ai and pathing. Also you would think with all the hp from our naturally high hp and DS would be a lot of survivability, but when you are focused its really not. We have no invunerability utilities ,no access to vigor, any means of escape, and have to spec deep into a un-beneficial trait line for stability. As a guy with over 1000 hours of play on a condi mancer I would gladly trade some condi burst for them to make ds#2 a short range port and give axe and or dagger a cleave.

i agree with you necro can survive a lot when he is not targeted but when 2 enemies focus on him its really though fight we dont have any good build to face group of enemies(maybe spectral) no stability , no vigor , no weapon dodges or invulnerable we can only counter them with blind or fear(but useless against stability ) and of course we have to have full ds bar .

oh, and I also forgot long cooldowns. A lot of our utilities are 45-60+ second cooldown which on some feels way to long. Makes you feel like every minute you can melt 1 person or eat a bunch of damage (ie spectral armor+DS), but after that you better hide or your screwed. It did get better a few patches ago when they lowered some of the signets and spectral skills though. Overall the synergy of the class just feels off…

condition necromancer is still very strong in PvP.

Necromancers in EVERY OTHER SENSE suck though. For good reason:
1. Conditions in PvE are lack luster unless you are the ONLY condition damage person in your party.
2.Direct damage necromancer builds are lack luster since we don’t have cleave and the axe does kitten for damage on the auto attack.
3.Minion mancers suffer from poor AI in PvP and in PvE minions die in one blow (soon to change with the 15th patch though).

That is the most generic form of the build. Terror+dhuumfire+the right sigil setup gives you the ability to stack up bleeds very easily and essentially overwhelm 90% of build’s condition cleansing. There is still quite a bit of variation as to what you take, but that build is almost universally agreed upon as being overwhelmingly strong in PvP and WvW, and is likely to see nerfs (either directly, or indirectly through condition removal buffs to other classes).

The Necro is not underpowered, its just you don’t have to relate this class with others, it would be pointless to make classes if each had the same perks. Don’t forget Necro is the only class with a double health bar, no class is as quick to stack so many different condi’s on someone, we can fear, easily give 10-15 stacks of might to ourselves, all depending on your build.

Necros turn a buffed class into a sobbing, moaning heap of bleeds. If you have to shoo a bunker guard off of a point, you want a Necro.

Yes, conditions can be cleansed. Once, twice, maybe even thrice. The thing is, we’re not running out of bleeds, while our opponents will run out of cleanses.
It may sound like it takes us forever to kill someone, but that’s not the case. While we can not burst, the combination of fear(traited), bleeds, poison,torment and burning will melt anything in seconds if left unattended.

Depends on how much “love” our blood magic gets. Still, like you I’m hopeful they find something thats a balanced yet effective. I’ve always liked the idea that necro’s on this game in theory could spec different ways to be a blood mage, plague spreader, or direct damage archetype. Sady in practice only one, arguably two, of those area viable options atm.

As for the patch. Tooltip fix, another go at making wells the same size, another go at fixing traits that don’t affect the spells they say, another go at adding healing power or power to give a ‘slight’ (+6 all gear) boost to vamp/siphon type things. Oh all pets/minions get 73% more life.
