Ok, maybe not as far as the eye can see (due to culling), but recently, as I’ve been playing around with other new characters, or roaming all levels of zones while doing dailies, or just chilling in LA, I am seeing lots of necros. Lots.

MMs, dagger/dagger, and so on, just seem to be everywhere I go, and in a pretty high percentage compared to the “olden days” (aka “a few months ago”).

Anyone else notice this?

Welp, that’s probably based on just being in the low-level zones.

I noticed that too, especially because I’m currently rerolling my Main (From an Engineer) to a Necromancer, and all I’m seeing during champ fights in Queensdale are those floating hands from the staff…

But once you get to higher level zones, they’ll thin out. Same with Engineers, they’re everywhere in Queensdale…see how many there are by the time you get to Sparkfly Fen.

I’m sure you’ll be a very lonely Necro, and be neck-deep in Warriors & Guardians.

Of course there are more at the lower levels, but there has been a significant increase in the amount of necromancers around since the patch that fixed bugs/buffed us.

A lot of people are testing the classes they ignored from beta to now (i got a mesmer rolling despite the hate i had for how much they changed them from the GW equivalent).

When life gives you lemon, ask if its from a anime or manga.

I rerolled my necro today, got one to 50 before I quit not long after release and played the mm route. Decided to start over and relearn from scratch with conditions this time. I’m loving my necro and will probably be making it my main once she reaches max

I don’t see many necros besides myself in high level play. It’s mostly guardians, warriors, mesmers, eles, and the occasional other class.

there are definitely more necros. in my guild too.

2 months ago ppl in my guild were like “we would be so much better in WvW if every ranger and necro just plays as a guardian instead”

for some reason that attitude changed to “lol Wells/epidemic soo good, love necs!!!111” and now there are multiple necs running around in our wvw-group.

my guess is it just took its time (and all the bugfixes we received since release) for the majority of the players to realise that necros arent in such a bad spot

Well the necro has, in my opinion, the most engaging type of playstyle once you develop a desired build theme. eg my necro is a condition manager and all my traits/abilities/gear is selected to meet that….at the expense of other abilities/skills.

It does mean it is better that you pick a particular role/build to be effective, but when you do it is very rewarding….and we have quite a few viable builds once the realisation set in that specialisation is the key. I think many others are starting to realise that now too.

Also I think some of the robust yet informative discussions on these forums, especially the build posts, are helping…especially those based less on mere opinion and more on facts. (and would be improved greatly if only people would be more explicit in what they expect their posted builds to achieve.) /off the soapbox

In a similar vein to what Oldbugga says, as a part of working and developing a build suited to one’s desired Necro playstyle one thing that has always jumped out to me when I read posts about builds and other mechanics of SPvP.. tangent, i spose it applies in other aspects /tangent, but I always wonder, does the said-poster griping about such and such being UP or nonviable ever adjust their playstyle for the build?

Keep that in mind when you go from a D/D power well bomb build for a S/F condimancer… fundamentals, right? I like that my nec can fill a multitude roles that typically involve being the ‘clutch-kill’ guy.

The writing on the wall says that thieves are doomed.

Let’s just take a moment to enjoy that….

….ahhhhhh.

Alright, so a lot of people are re-rolling, and dagger-mancer is like a thief with high survivability, so I’m sure it will be very popular for a while.

Also, we were a horrible grinding class, but now that our blood-balloon minion dude is a healing machine, we can grind solo with the best of ’em.

Minion AI, though still flawed, is massively better.

Conditions are getting some love? March 26? Maybe?

…..and the number one reason why everyone is rolling a necro these days, they already have seven other level 80 characters, and thought “what the hell.”

The only way to play the engineer is to exploit it.
Playing the engineer “as intended” is simply not viable.

I’ve been playing my wife’s necro over my engineer a lot lately. I find the necros really shine in mid and large scale wvw and for a lot of dungeons (as long as you aren’t playing with the 4 zerkers and a mesmer mentality). They are not as terrific 1v1 and lack decent escape mechanisms/moving skills but if you are doing a lot of group-oriented work they can be a powerhouse.

Necro’s have a cool as kitten appeal but they arent that viable for being super efficient in dungeon runs. Thats why you’re seeing alot more at the moment. People are creating new characters and seeing as they already have the current PvE tier 1 classes leveled (warrior, mesmer and guardian), they go for something a bit different and a little more awesome.

Necro is my 3rd 80, not sure if I’m seeing more or noticing them more because I am playing one. Glad I finally got to it, its what I intended to play from the beginning, but got swayed by the other “flashier” scholar profs.

You are right. I, too, have seen more Necromancers roaming but wonder about how the statistics will play out. Necromancer is great for farming but not so good at other things. What will matter to Arenanet is the time spent in wvw, dungeons, fractals, and ordinary pve by profession. We’ll see how it plays out.

It’s because ppl are figuring out if you run well necros and hammer warriors in a WvW zerg you are nearly unstoppable. Everyone already has a warrior so…

Everyday I run into full zergs of nothing but hammer warriors/well necros/and a few confusion mesmers. I have heard reports of zergs being made up of nothing but well necros as well.

Necros are less than impressive alone or in a group of other classes but a full zerg of well necros is stupid op.
