I just started playing this game about 3 weeks ago, and I chose a necromancer. I got really confused as to which type of “build” I should go with. I got on the forums and read and read and read, and I finally decided to go with a build that focuses on wells. I am really enjoying it and I feel like it’s working pretty good for me in PVE.

Note that I am only level 18, I have 5 points in curses, 1 point in death magic, 1 point in blood magic, and 1 point in soul reaping.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Until your 40 your spec will hardly define your play style and until 60+ it does very little and not until 80 will you be able to complete a well rounded build…. and even then you can’t because most of our traits don’t work as intended.

The problem with a well build in PVE is if you’re soloing hearts the cooldowns are too long for steady, consistent fighting. I found minion master to generally be best for soloing as you can generally maintain 2 or 3 pets at a time, they will die and they will die frequently, but you really have no other abilities that add consistent damage to help you in soloing.

Also I advise against using the blood fiend, in fact I’d almost forgotten it exists, because when it dies you have no heal in the bag and you’re screwed. Both of our other heals far outshine it.

I agree with instantcoffee that traits won’t matter much at your level. Instead, what mostly defines your “build” at those levels is which skills you choose to unlock, and in what order, as you accumulate skill points.

Edit: given you focus on wells, the next skill you may want acquire is Well of Corruption. Blood Is Power and Epidemic are also both worthwhile skills.

Stealth nerfs are the perfect fertilizer for mistrust.

I completely forget we have a heal minion. I hated that thing, because we need to cast, and it could very well die before you hit 6 again to consume it for a heal. Has happened in pve more times then i want to remember. Who gave us a minion as a heal and made it some easy to kill is a horrible idea. Get consume conditions as soon as you can. It is many times better.

The game takes on a new spin when you play “Keep the mobs off the pets.” They actually put out some decent damage if you make fear/CCing stuff away from them into a priority.

Usually I run Epidemic and Scepter for dynamic events, but minions are fun for a change of pace here and there.
