Warhorn mainhand weapon. You’d have to blow it every attack including autos. Could you imagine how lightheaded your necro would be?
Maybe get an Asura under your arm and pump it like a bagpipe.
The big suggestion seems to be that axe #1 and #2 should cleave. Just repeating that here.
Sounds fair remove the 600 range and give 1 & 2 cleaving

The problem is, if someone moves out of your front you stop attacking them, where cleaving weapons don’t and keep attacking.
I can’t hit strafers that well with a scepter.

I think Scythe or Polearm would be a new weapon that could be introduced to fill that role.
Scythes would be quite redundant with how many weapons have looks to mimic them.
Swords(chill or mobility or something), Hammers (cc), Polearms/Greataxes (burst) do all fit the GW2 necro and could cleave, now lets just wait for the devs.
Dear ArenaNet, I am bumping this thread for the good of ALL Necromancers… Some of us would love to play non-condition builds in a melee setting, but you have made Necromancers the ONLY CLASS WITHOUT A CLEAVE! Even if it is just 3 targets, please make our Axe or Dagger a cleave attack. Or allow Necros a New Weapon… Maybe Scythe’s a new melee weapon for Necro.
Cleave wouldn’t make us any better to have against bosses like Archdiviner, Mossman, or Bloomhunger…
It would help us in other areas of the game not just against certain bosses…

Cleave would help us, and frankly I think it’d make sense as long as the weapon wasn’t overall bursty. It wouldn’t fit on any of our current weapons unless they got a remake though.
I’d rather see something like torch that does burst damage from you target.
Example torch#2 cause.blindness and chill on target(chill because burning just doesn’t fit us) and enimies up to a range of 300 from target.
Make it another close quarters weapon (like axe 600 range)

So when we use staff skills a kool. Looking scythe head appears. .. why.not give us a 1h sword medium ranged (or 600 just cause.I love those weaps) that when you attack.kinda get the same effect but has a chain attached. Make it look like a Kusarigama, make it go.exactly 600 and pierce the target so lets say if they 200 from you it hours through yo the full 600 and hits any enemy.
I’m going to chime in here as well, as it was an issue I’d actually forgotten about until I recently dusted my necro off and picked him back up.
Frankly I can’t even see why it would be too damaging to just let the Axe cleave up to 600 range. Necros need all the help they can get at the moment, and I’m not optimistic about the prospect of new weapons coming onto the scene any time soon. Are there really any balance concerns that remain legitimate after considering the relatively poor performance of necros in general? Just let it be a buff.
… Also… Kusarigamas are always awesome.
Hammer necros. The more I think on it, the more I laugh and realize how awesome it would be. Have the necromancer carry it, but in combat manifest a giant set of disembodied reaper arms to swing it give it a subtle “possessed” aura and have it behave aesthetically like a mesmer’s greatsword or just something that shows the necromancer is being empowered by the dead to lift the enormous thing. Tie spec in with Soul Reaping (since every other trait line has its own weapon spec).
Skill 1/ AA could be 3 strike chain, with the 3rd applying AoE weakness & cripple (attack speed slightly faster than a guardians hammer AA but dealing less damage per hit)
Skill 2 could be a leap, dazing target on hit and removing a boon while granting LF
Skill 3 could be a wave that bleeds foes (appearance-wise similar to the original concept of grasping dead)
Skill 4 would be a lanch or KD (seems to be the build pattern for hammers)
Skill 5 would be a short duration PBAoE Torment. (think guardian symbols or a miniature well, this could be a crack in the earth with corrupted souls pouring out).
That’s my hammer necro brainstorm, for better or worse :P

Only comment about the weapon set is that its split between power and condi, and weapons that do this tend to end up bad at both. I’d just push it to be a CC power weapon and let something like greatsword do a melee cleaving condi set.
i need another 1200 range weapon, my most used weapon is axe at 600 range and sometimes just bugged me when that thief start running away or that warrior. put axe 1200 or give us a GS whit some power design i dont want more condition spreading weapon we have enough whit staff and scepter+epidemic.

All 3 of the damage ele conjures (hell eles in general), GS warrior, at least would have something to say about that. I can deal more damage with a single Meteor storm than an entire double well + DS 5/4 + WH 5 + Focus 4 will do (or at the very least, it sure as hell feels like it).
And frankly, necromancers SHOULD have decent damage if we’re going to entirely lack decent utility. But even still, a single cleave weapon wouldn’t suddenly put us into speed runs, it’d just put us on par with damage.

I dont think that our condi aoe need improvement.
In my opinion it would be enough to change the axe auto into a cone attack similar to the guardian staff aa but with less of an radius. I would love to see some thing similar to the spectralblades of wizards in diablo 3.
I and many others have been asking for this for a long time. Personally I’d love for them to add a two-handed axe to the game and give it to Necro (among others). They have the model and animation (executioner’s axe) to build on.
That said, I’d be happy with just about anything that cleaves. Hate not having a cleaving weapon.

But that would also means people would need to learn to necro then.

Don’t forget to /dance for your cleaves too!
(Note: Sarcasm in use. Epidemic is useless in the zerker meta, most trash is dead before the cast even finishes, even some bosses die before you can complete the cast)

No reason to think this. At least, not for minionmancer. Minionmancer works pretty well with Dagger, as it stands; no reason not to be up front and cleaving with your zombie chums.

You should not be ranged on MM, unless you have to. You really want to stay within 600 range, even with Staff equipped, unless you are in a specific situation where you don’t want to get onto the point (need to quickly rotate back to home), and Dagger/WH both are amazing MM weapons.
Scepter to 1200 range. (changes to the auto attack would need balance testing I think, but that isn’t my job!!!!)
Staff cleaving melee weapon. You can keep the marks how they. Will help with gap closing.

I think that sword wouldn’t be a good fit for a necro, because on every other class that has mainhand sword, its a mobility weapon with cleave, and some sort of leap or teleport, and the devs sure as hell don’t want us leaping.
