Dungeons – 1. berserker with axe/focus and DS build (or dagger build, but i don’t like it)
2. Condition necro, not very popular but actually strong (if no constructions) with high survivability, scepter+dagger and rabid gear

Don’t do wvw

See Nemesis’ video tutorials with builds for PVE/WVW/PVP. They are lengthy but give a good explanatioin of necro abilities and builds:

The effectiveness of condition duration is a major difference between PvP and PvE and not just damaging conditions. Mobs in PvE generally do not remove conditions so they usually run to the end for full effect. Food and Spite are your friends, there.

Conditionmancer builds can be powerful because of full duration where in PvP conditions are usually removed. You will find a condition build in the Curses line is no longer sub-par but there is a lag in building dps until a good sized stack is applied.

When you can, increase condition damage and duration in PvE for direct dps improvement. Precision translates into condition damage and critical hit chance but the conversion is less efficient. If you trait Curses, do so more for the skills and weapons than a need for maximum condition damage.

Edit: Carrion armor is not exactly terrible with its + power, + vitality, and ++ condition damage. Some also like Cleric’s armor for the healing and toughness instead of vitality and condition damage. Power is always useful.
