For those that don’t know Runes of the Traveler are:
+10 to All Stats; +2% Critical Damage Critical Damage
+15% Boon Duration Boon Duration
+10 to All Stats; +2% Critical Damage Critical Damage
+10% Condition Duration Condition Duration
+10 to All Stats; +2% Critical Damage Critical Damage
+25% Movement Speed
And Speed of Shadows is: Run 25% faster in death shroud.
Has any one tested to see if they stack or even effect each other at all? Same question for Quickening Thirst? (Move 15% faster while wielding a main hand dagger, move 10% faster while wielding an offhand dagger.)
Thanks
They will not stack.
Swiftness is a boon that provides an increase to movement speed. Other effects that provide a bonus to movement speed (e.g. certain traits and signets) do not stack with swiftness; only the highest increase in movement speed will be applied.
Speed buff normally don’t stack. it’s just the highest one that counts. In your case, Rune #6 would give you the speed you want.
I think there’s one exception, with a rune that says +5% to swiftness or something like that.
Technically not an exception if it instead of a separate boost it modifies the speed boost that swiftness gives.
I have a side question that I hope someone can answer:
What’s the movement speed modifier of a character affected by both Swiftness and Chill or Swiftness and Cripple ?
there it gets tricky. technically you still have your speed boost at full, and then it is hampered by another effect. IIRC, chill is a 90% decrease and cripple is about half speed. If you are swift and cripple you are faster than someone with just cripple by whatever % your swiftness is.
Thanks for the responses, I was hoping for more personally tested data but its all good. I’ll buy the runes tonight and give them a shot. If I find anything different for what has been said I’ll update.
Unfortunate that it doesn’t work. Would be fun doing signet of locust, traveler runes, speed of shadows and spectral walk. Usain Boltomancer!

You forgot Qickening Thirst with double dagger and consumable Speed Boosters. The total would be +148% xD
Max speed is 33%. Max passive speed is 25%. Only time stacks for speed, so using traveler runes gives +1 slot for other skill

… but…
A character’s movement speed can be increased or decreased in several ways. Both speed buffs and debuffs do not stack; the effect with the greatest value will be used (though some speed effects from traits do stack). For instance, having swiftness and Signet of Air active will make a character move 33% faster, not 58% faster (33% from swiftness and 25% from Signet of Air). The in-combat speed reduction stacks with movement speed debuffs.

i assume the trait exceptions are stuff like move faster whilst using a dagger(mainhand and/or offhand)…

Add that one thief trait to the list…
Still, the max movespeed is somewhere around ooc swiftness speed. The only thing, those 50% boosts do is give you higher combat speed.
As this thread is kinda related to my question i thought i would ask in here rather than make a new thread and clog up the forums:
Does the 25% movement speed for the Traveler runeset work in Death Shroud?

Yes, it also works underwater if you have a rune in your aquatic helm.
Probably shouldn’t say this but it also effects golems….

Sweet, i use it on my Mesmer and it works SO well seeing as how slow as hell they are. Will look into getting them for my Necro as well i think

Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaly? Now, THAT is interesting. Maybe buy a set to run on a thief as a roamer/golem rush driver?
For that matter, candy corn affects golems too. Not as big of a boost, but it’s notable.
They do not stack speed but having the runes allows you to pick up different traits and utilities though.
Yeah thinking of making a build where I can swap Locust signet out for Blood is Power once make a set of gear with those.
