With Scourge the pve meta is going to be scepter/dagger + torch, and the only source of LF in this set is scepter 3.
The utilities are going to be plaguelands, blood is power and possibly cpc and maybe a new one. None so far give life force.
Scourge’s shroud also doesn’t have a skill that regens LF (like life transfer or RS autoattacks) and we lose GS which is a strong LF tool.

if scepter, torch or dagger offhand doesn’t get life force source, we’re gonna be stuck with a LF regen utility like the shadow fiend or spectral armor and that’s really restrictive for fights with no nearby deaths (for example Cairn, Samarog)

If you slot Bone Fiend and Shadow Fiend and summon them and then switch their places on the skill bar instantly un-summoning both and then have your squad mass /gg for cooldown reset every time you do so you can get LF quickly.

I’m pretty sure there will be something that way coming in patch on PoF’s release date.
Otherwise, ANet really needs to change the testing team…

The other set will prob be Dagger/Warhorn. Dagger MH for LF generation. Warhorn OH for the same reason.

Utilities I would pick would be CPC, BiP and Trail of Anguish for the extra Torment.

If the new skills have a fixed amount of life force cost (no more affected by % of life force degen) we’ll end up to stack some vitality. Maybe the free expertise we get from traits have to become vitality.

In your opening post it sounds like you I decided what the meta will be when the fact is we don’t know. It’s fair to assume but if you aren’t going to be open to new ideas don’t complain if the game doesn’t change for you so you don’t get left behind.

I mean after all GS ended up in a co signer rotation.

we have enough info to predict what the meta weapon set, utilities and the rotation is going to be. we only dont know what the gear will be (runes, sinister/viper combo etc)

I don’t see us struggling with Life Force as Condition DPS, but we might as Support DPS.

1%-2% Life Force on the Scepter auto chain, being 3%-6% on a full auto chain would be cool.

Maybe they don’t want condi support become too strong.

Think about stats:
1 for condi damage
3 for power damage

Condition damage, Vitality, Healing Power -> Backline Condi DPS Barrier Supporter -> Broken! (if not hold back by poor LF generation)

May require the one Punishment that generates life force. The trait for them will probably be meta anyway.

I can actually see CPC being swapped for Signet of Undeath as a possibility, since each life force expenditure pulses an attack and don’t mess with combo fields like CPC does. Not sold on that, though.

Fully agree with Subli here. This build most likely will be meta, i strongly feel that the missing utillity skill will be the “dps” skill.

Necros should have LF gain on every AA.
Every one-handed weapon should have an additional skill that generates LF, with a increasing requirement like scepter 3.
Every offhand weapon should have a skill that generates LF.
Every two-handed weapon should have LF gain on AA and 2 weapon skills as well.
Restricting a classmechanic thats so crucial for the design further by limiting them to certain skill is a bad design. Picking utilities and traits to boost the natural class resource should be an option to make it better, not to make it work, regardless of build.

Imagine the outcry if a mesmer would not have clones or phantasm on his condi set. Or a thief would have only a quarter of initiative gain on his power sets.
Or a warrior getting half of the adrenaline on weapon X.

Sceptre LF has always been a problem. A LF generation setup on weapon swap is how I handle it.

Do the punishments generate enough LF, if you use a full bar?

Reaper was light on LF and had it buffed. It also has LF generation traits.

Well its generally an issue because its limiting some wepaon sets more than others. With scourge especially because these shade skills cost a lot of lifeforce, for the most part. And to get the best dps out of these shades you use as many shade skills as possible. The fear alone will cost like 30% of your lifeforce, if you compare the cost with the max hp, at least what we know from now. These has a 15 second cooldown, means to keep this skill on CD you need 2% Lifeforce each second. The other skills have shorter cooldown, and lower cost, but i guess we will have massive lifeforce problems if it stays that way.

It’d be nice if all autoattacks just generated small amounts of life force. Then our other skills could be directed to other things, and god knows we need other things now.
