So, I got to thinking: could there be such a thing as a viable necro signet build?

I’m still not sure there is, but after toying around with it on paper, here is what I’ve got:

The Signetmancer would be a power-based build, with dagger/dagger, axe/focus and DS for weapons.

The idea is to be fast (Locust), build LF (Undeath, Axe, Focus) and have good crit damage with weapons and DS. (Will obviously need alot of precision from gear/trinkets.)

I’m not sure if such a build is viable outside of PvE, and even in PvE I have my doubts of its efficacy.

Opinions?

The issue is that Signets don’t really offer much, most of their actives aren’t that great (Signet of Spite – 1 stack of all conditions for 5 seconds… Oh… Yay….)

That combined with their long cooldowns (Even with the trait, the shortest cooldown is 48 seconds) means the Might stack trait does very little (Up to 9 stacks of might on a 20% uptime at the cost of 3 utilities compared to Blood is Power that without traits is 10 stacks of might on a 40% uptime and still allows for 2 other utilities to be used)

Thus leading to the conclusion that rolling with other utilities is better (Though Locust is still pretty nice for the passive, especially if going Dagger/X in WvWvW)

The signets are fine on their own in certain builds, but I would never use them all together, they don’t really synergize well together, and they just aren’t very good if you try to make an entire build just with signets.

The only possible way i used it was 2 signets on conditiomancer.
Locust for kiting , plague signet for transer/stunbreak and 3rd a currption skill of ur choice.
Undead signet is meant only for the great active in tpvp
And last, any1 wearing a spite signet should be posted on failblog.

Well, you all pretty much confirmed my doubts about the usefulness of such a build.

To be honest in pvp and wvw plague signet, signet of locust are both useable and not bad.

And signet of undeath is exceptionally strong.

So I dont think a 3 signet necro is bad at all in pvp. In fact I am going to try it. It has been on my mind for a while.

The stacks of might trait is so terrible. Thats the main problem with the build. It is the fact that the traits dont work very well with the build. I wouldnt even take signet power I dont think. You will never activate locust, undeath is on a long cd and is only used when required and spite will be used situationally as well.

So the traits I would run would be:
signet mastery – essential
Hemophillia, terror, lingering curse
Greater marks
Vampiric Precision
Path to midnight,
