The Healing in Shroud Megathread
Sticky, please.
This is really good information, but it bothers me that the designations are inconsistent. Maybe go with just “HEALS” or “does not heal” for every source?
How to Condi Reaper on a budget
Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.
One day, my friends, everything on that list will say “HEALS”. I am hopeful.
Not to be the negative guy but as those hopefully heal in DS the max pool is lessened. I think I remember Robert saying siphons only will in shroud for now so maybe the other sources are being tested but don’t have a big priority.
In short boost the priority of healing in DS.
The Dhuumfire thread
You sure leeching bolts doesn’t heal through shroud? When I was playing reaper over the weekend I could have sworn it was healing
S P E E D Starr #0 Necro NA or
I Am NeXeD awful d/D ele NA
Blood Bond does heal
Was that fixed? Last time i checked it didnt work (most likely a bug).
Soul Eater. Heals in shroud
Are you sure about that one? I recall to remember that the trait only worked with gs out of shroud (also both the damage part and the healing part).

Blood Bond does not heal through shroud and Soul Eater only works with GS, not shroud.
Wow that’s sad then. I’ll correct.
Wow that’s sad then. I’ll correct.
Fine but i am still not convinced that soul eater should be in the list at all, since it only applies to gs not our shroud.

I looked for green numbers to pop up after using it and never saw any. I’m fairly sure it didn’t heal but I’ll correct if I turn out to be wrong.

Green numbers on the screen, or did you also check the combat chat?
in every playstyle imaginable,
they’ll call it a day and release HoT.

I had assumed wrongly that the trait was like Axe mastery / Unholy fervor where the weapon buff affected the shroud too.
I suppose the trait should go off the list as a possible source of healing in shroud, but the trait is confusing because it doesn’t work like similar traits.

Fun fact: There are alot of things that arent shown in the combat log, so checking you health bar is a better way to see if it heals or not.

Well this actually shows some of the problems shroud has implementation wise. It uses the same base damage as the weapon you have equiped (thats the reason unholy frevor actually works in shroud) instead of a shroud specific base damage that is dependent on the “itemlevel” of the weapon (that not a correct term but i hope you understand what i mean) and not what kind of weapon (also axe, staff etc.) it is.

The thing is the combat chat doesn’t tell the difference between whether a heal worked or not. I just tested Blood Bond for example, and while the log would say you were healed, it doesn’t recognize that the heal doesn’t go through shroud. All healing technically affects you while in DS, it is just that most of it doesn’t actually affect your HP.
I keep making that point in the axe & focus threads (it should do more damage if it nerfs my shroud damage), but haven’t been able to convince anybody.
Somebody found a vid of whirl combo not resulting in lifesteal heal in shroud.

My issue with minions is when they attack, they siphon health. Soooooo why does that not work in shroud? Even Blood fiend is useless because their siphons don’t work and that’s your heal. And it doesn’t work. Did I mention it doesn’t work?

Blood Fiend is complete and utter garbage and should never be used in any build ever. So that’s besides the point. Vampiric procced by minions absolutely works though, I just tested it in game.

I had a suspicion… Ugh. ~Petitions for more informative combat log~

Bloody hell! If that’s not a serious overlook of the programming, I don’t know what is… Oh, hi Flesh Golem.

Its a clashing effect of an unfinished profession mechanic. The orignal death shrould was made to be the necromancers downed state and later turned into the professions game mechanic. It functions like a downed state health bar.
You can still be hit
You can still be cc’ed
it depletes over time
you cannot us standard healing methods
You cant use utilities
You dont get benefits from utilities.
These little bits of healing they have provided are not quite viable yet and need to be adjusted more. Necro is that mess in the game thats super fun to play but devs dont like touching it too much for some odd reason. ;/ idk
Augury of Death now says that Shouts do a Life Siphon. It’s not clear if that is supposed to work in Shroud, though. It’s in the Reaper trait line, so it wouldn’t make much sense if it didn’t.
You don’t have shouts in reaper form anyway mate.
That being said, I think leeching bolts and parasitic contagion should proc in shroud at least.
Yeah, I realized it as soon as I jumped into the game after posting that.
I think transfusion is healing through Reaper’s Shroud now. I might be wrong and I was silly enough to not check my combat log when it happened, but I get a ridiculous amount of HP back for RS#4. Can anyone check right now?
Yeah, definitely not healing through shroud, I just tested it with base and reaper. You’re seeing Vampiric/Vampiric Aura proccing, which can proc up to 45 times over a full Life Transfer, but Transfusion would be healing you for 6k regardless of any targets hit.
Ah thanks Bhawb. Excitement got the better of me when I saw all those green numbers.
Question: Rune of Dolyak still doesn’t work with Reaper Shroud ?
My plan was to combo the 6-“Heal every second” with Unholy Sanctuary “Heal when in Death Shroud”
Ahh. I got duped into thinking that Transfusion also heal through shroud. kitten it. These conflicts makes it feel like kitten to play necro and I’m just a new guy. I wonder how you vets feel who just want their beloved class to not be bad.
Basically, unless it’s described as life stealing (but not equipment) or explicitly says it heals through Shroud, it doesn’t.
And yeah, as someone who love GW1 Blood Magic and has been playing GW2 since beta, it feels bad.
But the new changes stated that Necromancer can be healed by outsides sources even in under Death/Reaper Shroud

Links or it didn’t happen.
I disagree with necro’s healing in shroud, in pvp and pve we are pretty kitten hard to kill even in full dps gear. We don’t need it and if we were to get it we would take loses somewhere else guaranteed.
Please stop advocating for this, if your having issue’s staying alive as a necromancer, you should either seriously reflect on what your doing and figure out how to play better, or just stop playing the class it just not for you.
