This is a aesthetics question. I want to know what looks cool.

I already have 5 alt and 5 race.

You may need to define “looks better”. For example, my Thief is the smallest Asura I could make because it’s absolutely awesome to have a cute little fellow with floppy ears suddenly whip out two daggers and start frenzying all over something. Sort of like that scene from Galaxy Quest, if you’ve seen it. Very satisfying.

Though I imagine you mean, “looks scary and tough, and wears robes well”.

If I had to do a Necro again, I’d make the smallest possible Norn, and would end up with a character that has seven possible Forms. (The four Norn racials, one of which features a stealth skill, Lich, Plague, and of course DS.)

I went with Sylvari at first because you can make the males look sinister as hell, but the personal story (which is a big factor for my immersion) got to this part and ruined it:

Gavin: No, my noble friend. The white stag is coming with me. Once we turn it to the Nightmare, the stag will be a powerful weapon against the Dream.
Gavin: It is a manifestation of hope and faith. In Nightmare, it will be just the opposite — a creature of despair and hatred.

<Character name>: A weapon? Gavin, this is wrong. The white stag is a peaceful creature. You can’t turn it into something cruel.
Gavin: I can. We can. Come with me. You would be celebrated. Possibly even knighted by the grand duchess herself!
<Character name>: No, Gavin. I’ll never join the Nightmare Court.

Having a weapon of despair and hatred and being knighted by the grand duchess is something my character would enjoy TBH, because I already am a character of despair and destruction and to be a knight, well ho ho yes please. But you do not have an option. So…

So I went human, because you can do the the whole pale bringer of death look easily.

I love my Necromancer, Male Charr (Huge and tweaked to look like a big black wolf), Skull Mask, Ash Legion, Loyal Soldier Sire, who joined the Priory.

Dosnt wear masks well but hooded robes are fine, kinda reminds of the Werewolf from the Neverending Story or Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

@Rustypipes, brings up a good point. Play your Necromancer how you envision them. we differ in my case since I play a practical and often good Necromancer. Seems fitting for a Charr wanting to help his people and legion understand and fight the ghosts of ascalon better.

As far as Racial Skills go, all are viable especialy to one build or another.
Cosmeticaly speaking it for OP to judge.

You will want to limit yourself to only the Light Armor sets.

charr with shadow armor looks pretty good, although i’d only grab the skull facemask from that set and mix it with either arah’s, nightmare, or CoF set.

I run an asura for the racials and the smaller figure. Since i also run a super tanky steamroller type necro, having a tiny floppy eared critter steamroll you in WvW is hilarious. i think the Arah set on asura looks really fantastic, and the CoF set horns will make you wonder why you haven’t tipped over yet. Its very enjoyable.

if you want pale bringer of death look, roll human. it also fits a bit better story-wise and thematically. I believe rustypipes said this.

Human or Sylvari in Order of Whispers armor looks rather….Witch King of Angmar-ish. Norn wise the skinny norn dosnt look half bad in armor.
