F3 should TELEPORT your pets to you
if your zerging you should keep it passive / and keep sending it out to attack the target you want it to attack. you just can’t click and forget.
manage your pet more.
From a thread i made
Remember to this day that our pet HAS NO WAY to dodge anything, the only thing we can do is press f3 and hope the pet react in time and get out of the HUGE area he might be in and i believe when f3 is being pressed a feature granting invulnerability or a decent dodge should be granted (add a timer between each of the avoidance if needed, iām pretty sure putting a digital clock in the f3 icon isnt too hard).
An instant TP recall is also a good idea BUT the dodge thingy or invul is still a must if we have to relay on pet so much as we have now..

in small scale fight , will full management that f3 would make your pet invincible through management with timing , the only time in small scale when i loose my pet is when i can’t swap or recall it fast enough.
this recall gives other players a chance to kill it.
simple 3 in nature magic and a vigor boon can let you dodge granting your pet protection but i think it should also grant the pet a 1sec evade before applying the protection just like the ranger.
it’ll drain all 3 of your dodges but it’;ll let your pet have 3 seconds of evade and up to 7secs of protection , should be enough evade and protection for an amount of time to get it out of a aoe during the recall.
3 secs should be enough for simple amounts of Aoes but keeps it balanced as no one can survive a bucket of aoes unless you block (at this time you should swap if you can)
it would be strange if pets could block as block is a weapon mechanic or heal skill mechanic .
I would be ok with a separate key teleporting the pet (other than pet swap). I don’t want the recall to tele the pet because that’s a huge waste of time if all you want to do is reposition your pet.
For example, if it’s about to get smashed by a directional boss attack, you recall it for a brief second until it’s out of the circle, then put it back on the boss. Or any other of a number of repositioning options: blocking someone’s ranged attacks in PvP, blocking downed state skills, realigning an AoE attack or buff, etc. There are way too many choices to completely remove the repositioning available with the recall command.
I agree its very annoying having to constantly remember to press f3 in wvw on large scale fights, but its function is working as intended. It just doesn’t make logical sense for your pet to teleport back to you when pressing F3. What I feel that the pet needs in this aspect is another option. Right now we have F1 for attack this dude, F2 for use your skill, F3 for return to me, F4 for swap pets, what about an F5 for close ranged combat? Say the pet will roam anywhere within 350~800 distance away from you, whatever you tell it to fight. If you have it on passive only to use F2 abilities then your pet won’t accidentally go attack an enemy when you use F2 if said enemy is away from range, in that case you should know to toggle this F5 back to ‘full range’ so your pet pursues your targets. You certainly wouldn’t toggle F5 into ‘ranged combat’ all the time, but I can see it serving a very useful purpose in all areas of PvE, PvP and WvW.

They could add x seconds of evade to our pets when we press F3, with an icd of x seconds. Would be a nice improvement.
What’s silly is when you press F3 the pet would walk back slowly like it just finished eating a moose.
HoT = WvW players forced to PVE

NO teleportation thanks. Pet swap and its fixed. And a Little bit of planning u’r fight – helps as well.
We don’t need pets to teleport. Ranger should learn to stow pet when they are not in use. This allow the pet to be at you side when you initiate combat. bind-able pet stow would help a lot.

As careful as one might try to be with their pets, the fact is these are rather unwieldy AI-controlled creatures. We just don’t have the same kind of moment-to-moment responsiveness with them as we do our own character. I don’t think a Magical Pet Teleport is the answer, but some kind of additional leniency in how pets take damage would be appreciated. The Liadri fight, for instance, is pretty unfair to Rangers as pets are basically perma-dead the whole time.
Ai may not be as responsive as player would like, but they are extremely predictable.
A Teleporting pet will reduce its effectiveness. In that one it would create more summoning sickness on pets (the seconds after swapping pets that the pet doesn’t do anything (using f2 skill during this time will result in skill on cd with no effect)).
This will also affect calling your wolf to you so that when you fear your enemy he is as close to the enemy as possible and are fearing him in the right direction (pet will normally try to attack from behind so if you use fear your enemy will be fear toward you rather than away.)
So in short a teleport will create less pet responsiveness and affect key pet positioning tactics.
A far as pet stability companion’s defense is in a lot of none zerker build it is usualy enough to keep your pet alive until you can swap to a new one.
Pets are a weakness and a strength its the Rangers responsibility to make the latter more prominent. Example in the Liadria fight while will one pet will die in phase one you still can have a living pet in phase two. Your pet can also body block a shadow when you are down it will kill your pet but you will get a free rally. Not dying is better than the damage you lose.

Maybe F3 also grants a short duration swiftness to the pet? I don’t see this as a big problem, with proper pet management, but F3 could certainly be improved in some small way without creating imbalance. Right now it’s basically a non-combat command for me, and I just use F4 to immediately reposition. Not ideal, but it works well when pet swap is not on cool down.
