That’s right, I could care less what others say negatively about the Druid. I happen to love it so much, Iam switching from being a Mesmer main for 3 years, to now a Druid main. In BWE3 I played the elite class, all weekend! I fell in love.

As much as I love the unique magics of Mesmers, I’ve always had a heart for healing magic, nature, and the cosmos. So while those that hate on the spec will continue their rants and rages, I’m going to look the other way, and take up my druid staff and began my new healing career.

I’m tired of the 3 year DPS Meta. I’m ready for something groundbreaking, something that changes and refreshes how to play the game, and Druid does that for me, because I love being a healer in MMOs. October 23rd cannot come soon enough! Iam proud to say I love the Druid, and I’m glad it exist!

Yes they said the liquid rewards which means gold. So we’re left with tokens… yay i guess? Tokens are fine when gearing up… and then they are completely useless and the gold made from token armor is totally not worth the time investment.

Lmao! Chaos Im sorry! You and Pyro are just going to have to live the beautiful Mesmer dream without me for now. While Mesmer will always remain one of my Favorite classes out of any MMO, on a personal level and gameplay level. Druid and healing magic is where my heart truly lies.

Druid offers something so beautiful, something so unique. Mesmer does as well. But its time to put down the lust for fashion, Illusions, and purple butterflies… And take up the healing mystical magics of the cosmos and nature! :P

I’m not convinced druid is going to be that good in WvW or PvP. It really depends on where the skills are when HoT releases.

The healing needs to sort of be game-breaking for people to take it. Other classes can heal while also surviving and doing damage, and druid wasn’t quite there in the beta weekend. It’s a really weird tightrope their walking with this where druid can very easily be useless or god like.

agreed! we’ll have to see how Irenio decides to tweak things. after the first BWE for most professions they made some pretty major changes. we only got one so hopefully they give scrapper/druid the same kind of attention after launch as all the others got before.

For now at least i’m 100% celestial druid on the 23rd

While I may not main a druid I’ll probably create a hybrid. That’s how I’ve run my ranger after 3 years of finding the perfect balance(in my opinion). Can’t wait till next Friday.

Don’t see why-you could always go Ranger anytime when you want to give your Staff a bit of rest or are not sure you will benefit that much from the extra heals-even HoT won’t be Raids all the time (and there’s, of course, older content). You can’t honestly say that Druid is better than base Ranger at everything (and who cares about what many ignorant LFG posts anyway-they rarely understood how good a Ranger could be, and just regurgitated baseless “facts” about “bad Rangers”.)

(Not that you must use Staff as a Druid all the time either, of course.)

When the game was new, I did play my first character, a Guardian, in a very defensive, supportive, and even “healing” way-I am glad the playstyle has been given an official nod by ANet themselves, regardless of what used to be the most efficient in the soon to become past. That’s why I am welcoming Druid with open hands, hoping for some more good times to come. I still think base Guardian is awesome, but will probably focus more on the Druid/Ranger moving forward-more interesting than the other specializations for ME, though I also quite like the Reaper concept.

We are actually the weakest class in the game right now. Rangers are bottom tier.. Y they roam but they are not staff ele, yes they kill in 1v1 but they are not dd eles, yes the frost spotter build is in a good spot but they are not warriors..
Druid cant be that bad and if it probably noone will play ranger at all….

I think that you guys have forgotten that you don’t get credit for any kills if all you do is healing. Unless Anet changes this, and we haven’t heard anything to suggest it, your loot will be minimal.

I’m actually a roleplayer (go ahead, your mockery only nourishes my black heart), and the Druid spec is something that works so perfectly with my ranger character that I’m a little curious if the devs have been watching me RP.

Gameplay-wise, I always was a little surprised how much simplicity there is to Ranger. It’s a very easy class to pick up and learn, and much of the tricky stuff you can do later revolves around controlling the pet (e.g. making your bear kite enemies while you nuke them with longbow). Adding healing and a little control to the mix is a great way to make Ranger stand out.

I’m especially looking forward to the staff. You actually hold the thing like you hit someone with it rather than simply leaning on the thing while waving your hand, and the abilities look useful and flavorful. Glyphs don’t necessarily impress me as a full-bar proposition, but that’s all fine given that most of them have short recharge and have some interesting synergies. I cant wait to use glyph of tides with traps and combo fields.

There is nothing wrong with being a roleplayer. If you like roleplaying a healer, great. You will like playing a druid. But I suspect that after playing it awhile, and you find out just how badly you are rewarded for it and how little XP you receive for it (unless Anet changes it), I think you will start to get frustrated.

Perhaps Anet is holding back a reward and XP change as a surprise for us since they haven’t said anything about it, yet. I’m not holding my breath, though.

This is still GW2, redcomyn, and I still ascribe to the philosophy the game was based original on, which was to eliminate the hard and fast trinity, so while I do plan on healing and support in my builds, I don’t see them being pure heal.

I’ve got an apothecary shortbow trapper build for WvW roaming which incorporates stealth from trapper runes and situational use of glyph of tides for moving enemies into trap fields while making judicious use of staff and Celestial form for team support. It won’t win raw dps awards, but it’ll be tricky and tough to kill while its bleeds and burns tick away.

I’m also toying with a build that abuses the Ranger’s ability to generate fury and Remorseless in order to have a cleric-geared GS Druid dealing decent-ish DPS solo. Actually, during the BETA, I played with a Druid in a few dungeons, and other players loved how good it was with healing. Im not saying Druids will be needed for dungeons, but they def make it fun, some parts easier, and more enjoyable to run.

Specifically, in AC path 1, I kept hodgins alive, but just healing him. I was with a new group of players, not all lv 80, and we were able to finish the dungeon with ease. I really loved it, and it adds to the CORE PVE world, instead of reinventing it. I like that and dont mind. Im sure the hardcore ppl will always run Zerker in Core dungeons, but knowing a druid can be great help on the support side for dungeon players or frac players, is nice to see.

But you do want Spotter, FS, SS, GoE, and now GotL. These easily put Ranger above even Warrior in terms of offensive team support, not even factoring the healer qualities of Druid.

Its just so amazing how they tried to create a SOFT TRINITY (At launch of GW2) and it failed, which created the ZERK meta which is SOO boring. DPS this DPS that. Oh dear me I cant believe now, that ANET finally realized this ZERK issue, and are now creating the SOFT trinity though Elite specs! They realized their mistake and are changing it for the better! Oh boo hoo what to do?
