The build itself is pretty fun. It has a surprising amount of survivability, due to the Greatsword having a block and escape tools. I prefer to have a Shortbow on swap, but I assure that Sword/Dagger would be just as fine as an alternative.

Signet glass build, bumping all dmg boost on maul.
Signet of the wild 25% dmg + Attack of opportunity 50% dmg from Signet of the Hunt + 10% while flanking trait.
= Big maul crits ^^ Yeh it’s fun to do once in a while

13k – 14k Maul on a level 80! I like Maul in a power BM build!

I’ve rolled a similar build except my alternate is axe/axe where I use the 3 with the 4 to slow my target and the offhand 4 for a crazy initial burst before going in with the greatsword finish. It’s hilarious in that it does crazy damage but. if you miss or don’t crit it isn’t as crazy.

15k maul is incredible… just wow.

that video made me LoL….those 3 on 1’s were classic…they swarm you and BOOM!…that was some serious couch effin there!

Once and for all..

Any advantage/s the Ranger class have/would have over the Elitist classes; will be
Nerfed.

Our pet damage will soon be Nerfed because the Elitists cried.
Now Maul soon be Nerfed once the Elitist cries; and they will.

‘Take my word for it’

Have You also Forgotten that someone had posted a Engineer high damage critical build, which was soon Nerfed after.

The 3 “lowest classes” in guild wars 2 are , Engineer, Ranger, and Necromancer.

When the Elitists cries, they are Comforted and Provided help.

When the Lower Classes cries, they are reminded to “stop complaining” and to “just deal with it”

As the saying goes, “Without Common Sense, You Fail”

Another given reason/s for the Ranger Class to Fail.

This made me smile. If I’m one of the reasons that people cry out for a Ranger nerf, I’d be pretty happy. Knowing that I somehow “broke” a class open with a build that was possibly overlooked by devs would be fun to me. Though, as other people have already stated, this works out great when the build hits a target. If it misses, it usually means you have to end up retreating until Maul is back off CD with at least SotH up. It’s not like this build is something you can spam easily, and it definitely takes a lot of preparation to make it work. If it gets nerfed, I won’t mind. I’ll find something else to “break”. (Plus I have 7 other classes I can go to. ^^)

Because I focus only on doing a big Maul hit, I don’t have to worry about Critting. Opening Strikes is a guaranteed Crit, and I retreat from combat to regain the buff after a kill. I was thinking of switching to Valkyrie’s gear to try and get even bigger hits, but because I use the same gear for PvE, it would substantially lower my DPS on this character. Not sure if I will or not, but it’s always a possibility. :P

See thats the thing…you diddnt find a build that they werent expecting…they just dont care. they have us do the work then they nerf into the ground.

in the mean time..Thieves can stealth over and over in a short period. dodges,misses and blocks dont take them out of stealth and they can come out of stealth with 28k in burst…but they havent seen one nerf.

makes you wonder why.

Thieves have seen plenty of nerfs, and your 28k is an exaggeration. As with every class, Thieves also sacrifice a lot when they go into a zerker build. Stealth does give them a lot more survivability than other classes that go zerker can get, but they have definitely got weaknesses and have seen nerfs to their burst.

Screenshots don’t prove anything. There are always special conditions that will allow for insane damage. Showing that you Backstabbed a Warrior that popped Frenzy and had 25 stacks of Vulnerability while you had 25 stacks of Might is something that rarely happens. It’s not something you can replicate on several opponents in constant succession. It’s very specific. Even the OP in that thread says that he was a level 2 character and that it was not a practical number for realistic damage on an opponent. And, as I said earlier, Thieves have seen plenty of nerfs for their Backstab builds.

Not in the least. But to state that Backstab normally hits for “28k” and provide such a bad piece of evidence? Come on. I agree that Thieves are too strong with a lot of their skills, but they do not hit 28k Backstabs all the time. The pictures in that thread are under specific conditions and most Thieves would tell you the same.

I posted the video for fun. I don’t want to “sabotage” any class. If you looked through my videos, you’d see that I have videos up for Necromancer, Ranger, Engineer, and Thief. And if you’d gone to my Twitch at all, you’d also know that I have a level 80 of every class. I don’t intend to have any of them get nerfed. Why would I?

It’s fun to post videos of new and inventive builds. That’s all.

Here is what you said:

That makes it sound like you really think Thieves can just come out of every stealth with 28k bursts. Which they can’t. And they have seen nerfs to their Backstab builds. That was my point.

I agree that nerfs from ANet seem to keep falling on the wrong classes, but that is not to say that they haven’t nerfed anything from the upper ones, either.

what, none of you have already played around with this build?

Don’t mind burnfall. He thinks everyone’s out to get the ranger nerfed. He actually called Robert Hrouda a “double agent” just because he posted in the thief section XD Next thing you know he’ll start accusing me of wanting to get rangers nerfed because I make guides.

I am a little sceptical about the usefulness of the build since all your targets were people who seemed to be incapable of seeing you walk up to them and if they did were incapable of dodging what is possibly the most obvious attack in the game.

But none the less.. very nice

With GW 4 and 5 and SB 5 that would be three more opportunties to deliver 50% more dmg for you and your pet although you would not get the guaranteed crit from Precise strikes for them, The cooldown on moment of clarity is 5 seconds and you also get 50% extra daze/stun duration.

I did consider it, but I decided against it. The extra daze/stun duration is nice, but having to actually Interrupt to get the extra damage was more work than I felt I could do with this kind of build. It doesn’t stack with SotH, either, so it would only push my numbers higher in rare situations.

I’m sure that if you used Moment of Clarity effectively, you could get even bigger numbers on Maul, though.

That’s how WvW goes mostly (at least for my server tier). People are typically very distracted and can’t focus on everything going on at once, so it gives you opportunities to sneak in and get a Maul off. It helps a lot when you pop the skill before running into it’s actual range, too.

I don’t think “everyone out to get the ranger nerfed” but we rangers must not forget, we are among “wolves in sheep clothes” who states that they are in the best interest for this class who’s purpose is to see the “death stroke” of this class.. Nerfs.

When was the last time this class got a “permanent buff and fix”?

When was the last this class was able to resist the tyranny of cries by the wolves- elitists classes without ever getting a Nerf?

When was the last time this class had mods/devs who were Devoted in helping and seeing this class succeed?

Okay, wow. Chill out. Read any of the patch notes and you’ll see that they are definitely buffing Rangers. April 30th patch notes, just about every single thing there is a buff. How is giving our pets increased survivability not a straight buff?

Just because you ignore the parts where they definitely bring other classes down, does not mean it’s not happening.
