Don’t know if this has been said, but pets run to targets to use f2 skills even it they are on passive and the skill does not need a target. For example, things like bear’s condition removal or fern wolf healing.

Yup, fixed.

Since the “new improved ranger love patch” cough spirits are supposed to have a 50% procc chance, the skill tooltip haven’t been updated, the blinking icon in the buff row does show it however…

Some testing how many times you have to hit random mobs outside LA, note that once it procs, I turn 180 and let the buff expire;

1,3,3,4,5,5,4,3,7,3,5,8,7,4,5,10,4,1,5,7,1,7,2,4

Someone with more patience than me needs to try this and run this thru a “heads-or-tails”-probability, it sure doesn’t feel like 50% chance….

I also find that Entangle is a very inconsistent skill. In WvW – not sure if, coincidentally, players have countermeasures for this – it arbitrarily decides to not work at all. This also applies to NPC’s/enemies in WvW and PvE, I’ve noticed.

Unable to apply bleeds with Shortbow when solo, because pets are being ignored by mobs, causing mobs to go for the ranger right away, whether he shoots or not. And as we all know, you have to atleast be flanking to apply bleeds, which is now impossible.

It looks like the better the gear, the bigger the problem, but it dosen’t matter if you shoot or not, one hit from the pet and the mobs turn to the ranger.

It’s like the opposite of the engineer turret aggro issues where the turrets generated so much threat that they could be used as tanks. So maybe they ruined ranger pet aggro when trying to fix the engineer turret aggro issues, i don’t really know. I do know this tho, Shortbow bleed stacking is useless if your ranger are getting decent gear.

This is quite sad, since playing a Longbow ranger is mostly about standing still waiting for stuff to come off cooldown. Please do something about these aggro issues, so the Shortbow bleedstacking ranger can once again be usefull.

Sending a pet to attack by using its F2 ability will make my ranger attack the target as well. Please fix this.

Jeez you would think this would be fixed by now. I’m doing the last part of the Lost Shores event chain and the part where you have to explode the trapped explosive gas keeps saying out of range or obstructed when I am standing right next to it…… This has been a bug since basically the beginning of the game. Get it fixed already you slackers.

Does Lightning Reflexes not even work properly either? If it does manage to break stun, it just makes me do kitten roll on the spot and I’m still stuck there for like 3/4 of a second

Lighning reflexes does not break immobilize only stuns. If you want imobilize removal take renewal as your break instead, you will lose the dodge though.

I have a blue moa and 25 pts in Nature Magic its F2 skill says it gives 5 secs of Protection.

If I pick the trait Concentration Training (+50% boon duration for boons applied by pet) the tooltip and the actual amount time the boon lasts on me over my bar still stays as 5secs, rather than 7.5s .

The regen listed for the Fern hound on the tool tip says 12 secs but it only lasts for 8ish again the trait does nothing to boost this by 50%.

EDIT: Just noticed this in the actual list on the first page and it seems they only work in combat. Will check this later when I get home.

Checked this in combat at the training dummies and it seems like the Hounds regen gets boosted it was doing 8 before and now 12 but the Blue Moas protection still stays at 5 secs def bugged.

The base boon duration of the Blue Moa is 4 seconds. With your 25 points in Nature Magic, it is increasing the tooltip’s duration by 25% or an additional 1 second. So it shows 5 seconds. Nature’s Magic is either incorrectly updating pet boon durations in tooltips or not actually increasing them when they are used.

To get Concentration Training to even work, either you or your pet needs to be in combat. To figure out how much it will increase your pet’s boon durations, you need to first remove the duration increase from Nature’s Magic and then increase it by 50%.

Blue Moa’s Protecting Screech skill is 4 second duration and 6 second duration with Concentration Training. You will never see it actually show 6 seconds as all duration timers round down. It will show 3 seconds without the trait and 5 seconds with the trait, but it will last the full 4 and 6 second durations respectively.

Ok so the 4 sec without the points in nature magic goes to 6, I get that but I had 25 points in nature magic so surely the trait should buff the 5 seconds to 7.5s?

Either that or it should boost it to 6 then the point add +25% duration to that new total, either way its not doing it correctly.

Other wise the points in nature magic have done nothing for it?

Axe’s number 2 Skill, Splitblade only applies Bleeds, It says each axe also hits for a Certain Damage number but it doesn’t actually do damage.

Why when i use eagle eye trait the “hunter’s shot” animation is ordinary arrow
when i use any other it looks different

also underwater it shoots the projectiles above the head of my character not from th speargun itself and why is they so huge recoil i’m not using a cannon

When using Rapid Fire skill, the ranger will continue firing even if the enemy is dead and wont let you use a different attack until rapid fire is completely done.

Also, when using Rapid Fire sometimes the ranger will just continually shoot at the ground and not the enemy. Very annoying

When I use Hunter’s Shot i don’t get that blue color arrow animation, it just looks plain like a regular shot.

Hello, did anyone notice that using call of the wild can be obstructed? I didn’t find anyone writing about this bug so I apologize first if someone already did.

Recreation: use call of the wild on any creature, as it starts doing damage walk behind a tree or some kind of – line of sight – obstacle. You will see that the damage says ‘Obstructed’. I think is just odd, how can you be obstructed when the birds are the ones handling the damage, all you are doing is standing idly by watching them do their carnage?

Signet of the Wild active effect functions as a Transform. This means that you can’t rez or stomp after you activate the signet, which seems to be pretty ridiculous to me. It cuts the value of the stability by a lot in PvP.

Jon, or someone…anyone really, at Anet – would it be possible to get an update on these ranger issues you have kindly stickied? Information on what you have fixed, or believe you have fixed, or know or acknowledge is broken/still broken would be very useful.

I just went through this 2 month old list and it seems almost all of these things are still broken. I spent about 2 hours testing various things just now and a large number of things are not working at all or not as intended. I understand the need for patience, but over 2 months seems a bit excessive for these seemingly simple and numerous issues. Some kind of information would be helpful and appreciated – thank-you!

This is a fine place for this. I’ll get it stickied like the others. Thanks for your patience, these fixes will take some time to do, and about a week to test. They won’t all happen at once as we try to push through fixes ASAP.

PvP issue:

Spirit of Nature: due to its one minute duration it is often alive at the end of a successful defense/offence. When it has its ability up and out of combat it can be removed from the elite spot in favor of something else to gain a secondary elite in the same time frame, other classes with the same advantage so far is necro with their pet + ability (but their pet lasts longer so less likely to use it in this way)

the reason I listed this as a pvp problem is because vs a boss or castle seige you will be locked in combat and this will not really be an issue.

The “Attack of Opportunity” buff, while working fine on the pet, does not seem to do anything on the Hunter. You can generate it on the hunter from using the Markmanship 30 skill Signet of the Beastmaster combined with Signet of the Hunt.

Raven ranger pets currently have a second set of wings set in the spread position whenever they are standing around. I’m not sure if this is true for the other bird pets, but I wouldn’t be surprised since they share a similar model.

Broken Skill Chain

I have noticed a certain malfunction between using two particularly synergetic skills simultaneously, “Protect Me” and Signet of Stone. When testing them individually they appear to be operating successfully, but when popping them together it appears that the effect of “Protect Me” is bypassing that of Signet of Stone’s active effect; i.e. using both while being struck multiple times by the Svanir should redirect my damage to a pet who ought to be taking no damage, however what I have witnessed is the pet receiving this redirected damage disregarding SoS’s active effect. The massive chunks of health removed from my pet do not resemble that of condition “ticks”, but rather the damage I was meant to receive. This seems to occur regardless of the order in which these two skills have been applied. I have tried to take a picture of this happening, but I hit a lag spike each time I try to capture the image. What one will observe in doing this is that the pet receives two sets of damage numbers, one of course being the proper 0 one would expect during SoS and the other being the actual damage the player would have taken, which is now redirected to pet via Protect Me regardless of SoS’s effect. I am unsure as to whether or not this is meant to prevent players from combining these skills as a means to promote the grandmaster passive Signet of the Beastmaster, but from my perspective and tests this looks like a bug between the combination of these utilities where PM overrides SoS’s authority.

i’m not sure if this is posted yet but i notice with rangers their jump power is cut by half when hit. is this bugged? if so can you guys fix it. it’s really annoying if one is doing your jumping puzzles. or better yet if you don’t want to fix this one small thing fix the jumping puzzles, all of them if you’re gonna cut this professions’ jump power by half. i had no trouble with my other professions jumping even when they were hit. -.-"

I don’t have concrete proof that the rangers have less jumping power than other professions, but I disagree with the above. I personally am able to do all the jumping puzzles I’ve encountered with the same difficulty as other classes who have done it next to me. A great example would be the jumping puzzle found in World versus World where I spent a good while doing this with a char Guardian next to me (none of us saw guides of it before). But it would be good to see proof of the above. If it’s true that rangers have limited jumping power then it should be formally reported as a bug (screenshots etc).

This happened to me last night on a couple of occasions upon activating the Search and Rescue skill:

1) Pet did not budge. It continued to attack the mob, despite having an ally that was downed
2) The pet ran to a defeated ally and did nothing. There were no green numbers popping out (i.e. ressing the ally)

It had been working as intended until yesterday.

Not sure if this is a bug or intended to be like this, but it’s rather annoying;

If I’m on a platform slightly more elevated than the mob I’m using “swoop” on I end up not even hitting them. It seems the attack motion is swinging the sword at the end of the “swoop in” motion.

I think a better, and more realistic, way of doing this is to have the sword swing downwards as you fall, that way even if I’m above the mob, I bring the sword down with force and hit them.

Greatsword swoop bug It does the same damage as the crippling throw while the discription decribes a difference around the 400 (pvp in the mist) also the signet of the hunt doesnt provide a 150 % damage boost instead it stay’s the same.

There is a difference between tooltip damage and real damage.
Damage in tooltip is calculated with a coeff of 1.4, but real damage is with ~0.9/1

I don’t know if the bug is on the tooltip or the in-game damage (but I hope it’s the in-game damage :P)

Their ingame appearances are different, actually.

But there’s a lot of mismatched icons in the pet list. The River Drake has a Marsh Drake icon (technically the model’s wrong, since tameable River Drakes look like Rock Drakes instead of like the non-tameable River Drakes), the Marsh Drake has a Scaled Drake icon, the Cave Spider has a Canyon Spider icon, the Boar’s icon looks completely different than its model, etc.

I reported this with the in-game tool too.

Signet of the Hunt got a buff from 10% to 25% but the passive effect which is applied when the signet is equipped still has the old description which says 10% increased movement speed.

Is the 3rd attack in the sword 1 chain supposed to apply a Might boon or not? I never noticed it until I decided to learn to read and noticed the description said so. I have never seen the boon ever applied though.

search and rescue is not working at all.

pet does not attack after using the shout: Guard! especially after it died

pet can´t follow people jumping up/down somewhere and walks all way around the clocktower doing nothing for 30 seconds… it should track the enemies path to follow correctly in pvp.

when you send the pet to attack someone and the pet loses its target it´s running back with super sonic speed so i have to wait send it in again and have to wait 10 seconds before its doing something useful again.

pets condition damage is really poor in pvp compared to their direct damage and compared to other players.

Whirlfinisher with axe offhand in my healing spring is spreading healing bolts but they dont heal anyone, tried it multiple times in a controled environment with friends.

Entangle should work on the same plane. it’s ridiculous to cast entangle at the bottom of the tower and having people on top of the tower getting entangled.
