Ranger Weapon Theory Craft
I like it, but my only gripe is what to pair it with. ranger’s mainhand options are quite….bad.
As true as Odin’s spear flies,
There is nowhere to hide.

This would be pretty bad with axe but would be decent with sword in WvW. To make it even better I’d say dump the condi removal on #5 and have it give aoe stability to allies instead.
Granted, for this to even matter our next spec has to be good in zergs on at least the same level as druid (hopefully a lot more) but it’s a start.

Agreed. Ranger main hand could use some more options. This is just what I came up with first but if I can think of a good main hand skillset then I’ll post that too. Or maybe someone else will first!

i’ve always been keen on dagger, but don’t get me wrong i like your idea and think ranger should get more main hand options without elite specs, but that won’t happen.

actually i think a sword offhand or a dagger mainhand would make more sense than a shield with warrior\herald skills.
i vote for a sword offhand with burst and leap with evade.
would be nice to have a more reliable ranged condi weapon too. something where i don’t have to be a keyboard gymnast.

I’ve always wanted a main hand dagger with a 3 part auto that bleeds the target on the first 2 attacks and applies torment on the third. Skill 2 would be a 600 range leap that applies aoe chill where you land. Skill 3 would be an evasive roll backwards while you simultaneously throw a dagger that poisons and immobilizes.
Of course it would also be fun to have a hammer again. Bunny thumper elite spec

Main/Offhand Boomerang?
Chop foes in melee with bleeds main hand skills with a 450 foward leaper that criples and a heavy vulnerability melee attack,
Throw it with offhand skills for cripple/kd and ground targeted aoe over time dazer.
As long as we eventually get hammer (and bunny pets), I’m cool with anything.
Ha, boomerang, cool idea.
What about a slingshot? Something that really was used as a weapon in history. Allthough maybe only as a distraction.
Or a spear/javelin, one for on land. Like the paragon
A hammer isn’t something I see equipped on a ranger/druid. Feels more like a brawn over brains ‘’me hulk smash’ warrior kind of weapon to me. Leave it for those professions imo

Sadly it’s not a staff skin or people would be calling slingshot druids op.
For a Main Hand Dagger:
AA Chain (3 targets): Apply poison on first 2 attacks, apply torment (or confusion/burning) on 3rd.
Dagger 2: Apply AoE Cripple and 3 stacks of Poison (600 range, 5 targets)
Dagger 3: Teleport to an area and chill foes (900 range, 5 targets)
oh, and would only like to see it if they consolidate the poison traits in WS.

Ah yes.. Forgot about that one
Nice suggestions, although I think we are in a more urgent need of a non-bunkering weapon. A focus as an offhand damage weapon or a scepter as a mainhand damage weapon would be most logical imo.

It’s easy to forget since ranger shortbow is the worst weapon in the game.

I was thinking that too. Maybe we’ll see it come back some day.
