Hello, My name Is Eurantien. I’m almost rank 53 and I have over 3,000 ranked tournament games played though I have over 4,000 games played. ATM I’m rank 59 on the leaderboards (though if you know anything about pvp you are aware that means nothing). Usually, I use LB/GS in top tourney play. However, I’ve been using spirits because it is a highly effective build with the condi meta. Last night, myself and some other notable NA rangers made a 5 ranger premade. Thought It was funny and thought I would share.
The team comp was not ideal but we had 3 spirit rangers, a BM, and a zerker ranger half the night and 2 spirit rangers, 2 BMs, and a zerker ranger the other half the night (this comp was a lot better).

anet made a mess by forcing the meta into spirit…now they have egg on there face :/

Class stacking is strong I think, any class.(maybe cept for warriors poor things)

I don’t think anyone will disagree Rangers are pretty good in solo and small group fights if built properly; but if people are seriously going to scream OP at that and call for nerfs.. people are going to start having kittens lol.

It’s not rangers. It’s their crappy conquest format that makes mobility and bunkering with aoe condi bombing the way to play.

Rangers are worthless in wvw and dungeons, mark my words they will be made even worse because of spvp tears.

This game needed GvG and gw1 pvp not that garbage conquest format.

A. The Spirits died almost instantly into every fight, The only spirit that didn’t die was the 240 second cd elite.

B. They had more kills then the Ranger Team, In fact they were beating them pretty badly at that….Problem is they didn’t cover points which is how SPVP is won, not by actually winning pvp fights (its also why no takes SPvP seriously as a game of pvp skill)

C. This elementalist was whining about Shortbow spam from multiple Rangers, which i find personally funny, because he’d kitten a brick having 1 Rampager Ranger running the bleed build on his kitten (I can do around 25 stacks of bleeds in a matter of seconds)

No doubt. Too often people are so myopic they don’t see the big picture. Movement and capturing points + delay enemy from capturing points > 1v1 win.

Good. The last thing we need is to be doing amazing in spvp again. It’s the reason we are in such a kitten poor state as is.

I saw that thread, before I just now saw this one… so, I don’t even know if I’m playing along… or I trolled myself … or what happened… All I know is that if we try to talk about balance here, then no one @ Anet who has any power to make the changes will ever see it.

Is this more sad, or more lulzy? I can’t decide which.

This explains a lot. If that team was a so-called good team, spvp is very sub-par compared to some of the top ranked wvw guilds.

Wow. Those twits really néed … This is a legit L2P issue. I swear if rangers get nerfed again because some jackwagons can’t get their stupid shaaaaat together because they can’t be bothered to figure out how to win against a build. Just might have to give it up after Anet double-fists with the nerf bats. Which will surely happen since they cater to PvP above all else.

Me thinks you underestimate ANET . Yes, they absolutely have the ability to kitten up spirits.

They could make them worse like they where right at release when they got hit by the beta nerf bat.

I play spirit ranger myself, although I run sb/gs and I can tell you right now it’s not OP. It’s a perfectly viable build and I’m really enjoying it, but there are plenty of counters, especially control skills, condi spams and immobilizes. Talk about kitten-hurt losers, cant just accept defeat gracefully. And this coming from a guy who plays ele, come on now that’s laughably hypocritical.

Problem is spvp has devolved into an ego war. No one wants to accept that they screwed up. They just want to call ‘OP!!!’ on the classes that beat them. Now imagine that not only are you some ‘top pvper’, but the devs think you are so good, and such a great authority, that they are willing to talk to you on twitch. Must be mighty fine… now imagine some random no name ranger team smashes you while you’re sitting all the way up there yonder… You’re not going to accept you were bested no.. you’re going to claim they had the class advantage, you’re going to say that the only reason you lost (because let’s face it, you’re the best, even the devs think so) was because the classes you faced were overpowered and in need of a serious nerf.

I wonder if they noticed. All I heard was something about OP spirit rangers and necros and then something about wanting to quit the game lol.

Anet really needs to get together and wise up, instead of being idiot and listening to this noob like zoose.

I play sPvP once in a while. When i play with some of my friends we usually kitten around and win pretty much 4/5 matches. But once in a while one of my friends who only does spvp invites me to fill in a spot in his high ranking team and ill play whatever they need, home point bunker, dps roamer, ect. We usually face some of “pro” teams and to me i see nothing special. Sure they are way better than those random pugs buy not better than the good players ive fought. If i play home point they need to send 2+ ppl to kill me. Ive fought power/zoose/ostricheggs ect and never lost to them 1v1 so i dont know why some of the people in the pro teams feel they can say what needs nerfing.

- Sword damage is coming down, 1 of the evades are gone, cause its clearly the best weapon the ranger has (best damage, 66% evades on the skills), so we need the other weapons to look more viable
- Spirit cooldown have been aligned to the elite (i.e. 240s)

Yeah I instantly recognised his face. I can still hear him say: “rangers are so OP hehehehe”.

To be honest though, it’s the balance team that’s the big issue, not zooze. The balance team at ANet is the one actively trying to ruin the game on which others have worked hard and put all their time and effort into.

Well, the balance team (who only looks at sPvP), together with the interface team (camera view blocked by your own character, having to keep the right mouse button pressed to look around, no cursor causing you to shoot into the ground when losing your target, completely dropping your target when someone stealths, no possible keyboard shortcuts for several of our pet functions, etc) and the bug fix team (the wiki is littered with bug notes).

And they’re probably the same 2 guys, so highly overworked.

The only spirit they had to actually kill was the 240 cooldown elite, all the other spirits died at the start of every fight.

I think listening to Zoose complain about 1 spam on a scepter/dagger ele, whose main DPS comes from 1 spamming in air attunement, is very ironic.

God forbid something makes their team change tactics, especially based on how little they understand rangers. Most of their team doesn’t have a clue about the ins and outs of the rangers builds.

All these top tier players biases are disgusting to me, and it ends up revolving around the idea that if rangers can kill something, or can do anything other than just die, than rangers are too strong, and they don’t know how to play, and their passive playstyle is carrying them.

Watching the video, I honestly fail to see how Zoose is a top tier player.
