This one kittenes me off.
Who in their right mind actually thought this was a good idea? Before the change, you had an assured 5 bleeds as soon as your target hit 75% health. If they were tanky, you could hit them with 5 more after icd came off. Now, it is theoretically possible to crit every hit on RF and not get a single bleed.
I don’t understand why they added an arbitrary 66% to bleed on crits. Now if you build rabid per say, for condition damage and crit chance you end up effectively wasting 33% of your condition damage and your crits mean NOTHING due to the fact that you are attempting to do condo damage and wouldn’t have build for crits or flat damage at all.

Can somebody please at least explain positives or reasons for this change to me?

Sounds like you are mixing up keen edge with sharpened edges. Sharpened edges actually got a slight buff (the bleed lasts a little longer).

I do think they need to bring back keen edge though. Either add it to hidden barbs or wilderness knowledge

Sharpened Edges got buffed pretty hard too, but keen edge is a big loss for us imo.

Sharpened Edges also makes it so that your pet ALSO applies bleeds, is it super useful? Meh, that’s debatable, but it’s sure as hell not a nerf.

As for Keen Edges, imo it should be merged into Hidden Barbs, it only makes sense..

Sharpened Edges got 50% bleed duration buff. And ofcoarse affects pets aa. Bird anyone?

Some of the people crying for keen edge back were calling it trash before. I find that humorous. It’s not coming back. Ask instead for sharpening stone rework.

I mean it has a 45 seconds CD for simply 5 bleeds that have rather low base duration.
They could

  • Lower the base CD to something more appropriate (35s? 30s?)
    or
  • Add an additionnal effect – Torment? 5 bleeds + 5 torment – and keep it’s current CD
    or
  • Double the bleeds per hit and keep it’s current CD (so 2 stacks of bleed per hit instead of 1 for a total of 10)

It actually works nice for my build with a steady 96% crit chance, but keen edge was quite nice to have as well.

But I can stack 25+ bleeds on my own without keen edge, I don’t know that I really need that thing… might just be extra strength that doesn’t need to be there.

I’ve been thinking about which trait I would like it to be merged with a lot, and after lots of thought, I have come to this exact conclusion; merge it with Hidden Barbs lol.

Conditions are more effective now and made you invest in only one stat (condition damage). To balance it a little, it seems logical to make traits which are rewarding condition damagers take some precision. There are many traits like this.

They are able to stack them, that’s right, but also get benefit from crits.
Some examples:
engineer: bleeding on crit, converting prec to condi damage
necromancer: bleeding on crit, converting prec to condi damage
elementalist: burning on crit
mesmer: illusions: bleeding on crit

Just wanted to point out it seems to be a general concept.

One of my friends made a very good point earlier about keen edge if it were to return, it’d be really cool to have it proc off them having a certain # of bleeds (probably like 5 IMO) than for it to trigger off a health threshold.

I like the idea, it could be added to Hidden Barbs, because it fits the name perfectly. You don’t notice these bleed stacks for some time, but if you got some bleed stacks the wound will spread.

Both things (sigill and trait) give you the CHANCE to cause bleeding on crit. So there is the possibility to cause 0, 1 or 2 stacks of bleed. I don’t know if the sigill will give your pet the ability to cause bleeds too, but I don’t think so.

Daze isn’t the same as stun. A stunned enemy isn’t able to move or use skills (except skills without cast time and stun breakers), a dazed enemy is able to move, but can’t use skills anymore (agin except skills without cast time and stun breakers).
