All I can say is WOW how easy this class is to play.

I can see some issues with pets like being clunky and messy but I was able to do very well.

Ran 66200 zerker in PvP since he’s only lvl 2. I may have to fully lvl and kitten WvW.

I’ll keep y’all updated.

Just FYI the game pairs you with people who have no idea what the kitten they’re doing. You’re playing a level 2 ranger against people who have never played PvP before.

Edit: That is assuming you have no PvP rank, I guess you could have 1400 games but it seems like you have about 20.

Heh I’m FAR from unkillable mate. I’m just saying normally when starting a new class I’m accustomed to a steeper learning curve..

As for D/P thieves..it really depends on player/situation.

The moment you get chilled/crippled and focused down, none of your skills in 6/6/2 will be able to save you.

You are certainly right though, Ranger is easy to play. Against terrible players that is. Against anyone decent, you have your back against the wall. Very low skill floor, yet a very high ceiling.

Because Dragon Rank is a measure of skill when you can get it in a under a thousand games right?

Ranger is as easy as BS→100b warr in first weeks of game. It’s “I win button” until you meet someone who knows how what his skills do.

1) It’s not possible for you to be experienced with PvP and not have noticed the weaknesses of a LB ranger. You’re spamming attack skills and thinking you’re doing well and getting attacked and dying. I promise you you’re not playing it at the level of someone who actually knows what they’re doing.

2) Most of us don’t even play LB ranger in PvP.

Pretty much this. Everyone’s experiences in spvp differ. So we have to look at the highest level for a consistent metric in what classes are capable of. If a class and build are not regularly represented at that level, then logic would suggest that; (A) That class/build is not as easy to master, and/or (B) It is not especially effective at that level.

But w/e, this thread seemed to be made to stir up kitten anyways.

I told you I have a thief, I have at least 1 of every profession. Thief is easy mode and boring to play in WvW and PvP. I enjoy things that are a little more challenging, but judging by your opening post I thought you were looking for the easiest class so I decided to recommend what is hands down the easiest class in the game to play.

That’s good, when you start playing ranked on a regular basis let us know how ez mode 662 LB ranger is. Ok, thanks. Maybe a few videos would clear up our skeptisicm? Most of us have only play 2 or 3 thousand ranked matches, but there is always a chance to learn something from “new blood.”

I am curious how you handle 1v1 and outnumbered situations with such ease. Maybe there is an ez-mode button I am missing…

You should stick to thief then. They are the best class for running away. They can run faster than anything, and go invisible at the same time. Very forgiving to beginners.

Thief isnt really forgiving in general but it can be built to be so and still kill you.

You are right about Ranger being a class with a low skill floor, meaning players new to it can have some success in unranked queues where you fight against people who are inexperienced.

However, the skill cap of the class against competent players is way higher. You need to micro-manage your pet extremely well (lots of cancel-casting) to be able to use the full potential of the class while landing your own weapon skills. It’s something that can be hard to do especially during team fights.

Complaining about ranger being ineffective in tournament level is legit. Complaining that ranger is not in unranked/ranked is probably not. Most of your opponents are not very coordinated even if they are premades. You should be able to do your thing relatively easily, even compared across all other professions

It doesn’t matter who i’m fighting against. I’m on a class with zero hours played vs people who at least have sunk enough time to lvl and fully equip the character they are playing.

Most of the time they are their mains.

Turret engi wasn’t viable in tournament play, but was gutted by Anet. So let’s stop with the not viable for Tourney play angle.

If you’re just doing those 2 wins 2 loses, 3 wins 2 loses pattern, then it’s perfectly normal, and it can be done on any classes easily without much effort put into it. This does not prove that a class is easy to be successful, but an indication of there’re terrible players and experience players out there, and it’s purely luck base to get a good team.

Also, talking about MMR, if you just start a class, you’ll start at the bottom tier of MMR of that class, meaning you’ll be matching against the most terrible players. You should keep playing and climb up the MMR first.
