as with all build links, you need to copy/paste…. but in this case I might not even bother.
30/0/10/0/30 – LB/GS Also glass cannon but if the map has a hard to get to perch location you absolutely roast people if you get there first. Running condition removal muddy terrain(Securing the perch from quick closure to melee) and toughness signet. 6 seconds of GS wailing before leaping away.
Pets snow leopard(Ability to leap from perch to combat location without running around then stay on a snared target) and whatever utility DPS pet I want.
Several maps have very decent snipers nests in tactical locations that as long as you get in position first a ranger can use very well (Then knock a person off when they reach you). Fighting on top of nodes is however near instagib fatal. A High DPS pet getting haste for 5 seconds on your downed is actually effective death insurance in 1v1’s. Beware of thieves steal insta closing….
OoS
A whittling ranger becomes viable by forcing his opponent to whittle
I have something also i am using over, a Mesmer. Lot more damage, fun and survivavility. Using my ranger only to farm ori nodes
Yo like I said, longbow is preference, I use it for the love of it, not because its better. Infact most of my damage coems from my 1h sword. So you are welcome to ignore it, thats your loss, but Ive already had multiple people comment on it after i killed them in a few seconds, its very cd reliant but quite strong. Pet carries it tho, raven is a must.
good on you for finding something that works for you AND for using a weapon just because you like it. I too have something that works, and basically i ignore my pet and make sure i do enough damage myself lol. I’m doing fine. Not the best but i’m doing fine in all situations.
To everyone else, people’s builds might not work for everyone. It depends on your style, your way of thinking in combat, your strategies, even your personality etc. If ranger never worked for you, that’s too bad. But it works for some people. I’ve seen successful condition builds as well. I’ve seen builds that some people use, but within those ppl some of them use it effectively whereas others decide it is a bad build.
Anyway, cool stuff!
Dont get me wrong, when I use my cds I get on the same level as every other class when they arent using their utility cds, but when I dont have them, Im weak, and while I love this build for a filler while I wait for buffs and fixes, it is literally all about my raven, without raven I just dont do the damage. Its sad but Ive literally had people ask me how my pet hit them so hard, not me, the pet. Still, fun build, try it if u want, if not no biggie, thought Id throw it out there for those who like damage.
Guess thats it. Well for those who did try it, give me some feedback ingame or on this thread or in a pm. Enjoy.
Great build! I like it.
I have a similar build using the longbow as a primary. I like the longbow for its AoE and (single-target) knockback – often to push targets back into the arrow storm. For my build, I focused the trails on the Signets for the 20% cooldown reduction and Might on use. I moved 15 points to Wilderness Survival for the 50% Endurance regen and Protection on a dodge and its great! I’m never without Endurance when I need it.
I ran my build with a Shortbow for the utility and kiting but recently swapped it in for a Greatsword for the lulz. To my surprise its actually more fun. Dropping Signet of Stone for Lighting Reflexes my “rotation” for solo PvE sort of goes like this:
- opening with Barrage
- Hunter’s Shot
- Rapid Fire
> switch to Greatsword
- Maul
- Lighting Reflexes
- Swoop
- chain with Quickening Zephyr
It should be obvious that this list of abilities might be overkill but it is a lot of fun when working on Map Completion and doing dailies. I would prefer the Sword over the Greatsword, preferring Hornet Sting over a utility slot, but with my affinity for dodging the Sword just isn’t on my Top 3 list right now.

The raven pet alone just does so much damage its insane, if it only landed its hits often. Im hoping they rework the longbow to be dynamic and interesting if they dont wanna buff it.
All birds have great damage, just low health.
