Thieves are immune to Sick-em?
Did you submit this bug?
Did you submit this bug?
yes
Leave it to devs in this game to make a semi useless sic’em buff that no one wanted or asked which doesn’t work instead of fixing any of the actual issues with rangers.

this is answer to your worries about sick em
in short this skill is just useless
Do we know whether Sic’Em activates immediately or when the pet decides to follow the command?
it doesnt activate if you dont have target .. it has nothing with pet ..
if you have target ic activates immediately
dont remember if it work with pet dead .. used it few times and forgot that this skill exists
I have never seen thief able to stealth after I use Sick Em on him. It works instantly, it bypasses blind, reflection, aegis, evade, dodge, line of sight even. You don’t have to face the thief neither has he.
Reveal from Sick Em is not bugged imo, at least I have never seen it not working and I put this shout since past update quite often when I can prepare for thief. The shout itself is, because it cancels it’s effect on any command like all other shouts, but that’s shout issue overall.

It will still apply the reveal regardless of whether you have a pet alive , or even near you. I once used it to put reveal on a thief while my pet was still in stow mode and not even active.
Do you have the thief targetted? It only works before the thief stealths, and the little kitten has to be clicked beforehand.
Like Substance said, I remember it working with dead pet.

Still running my old RRR build because why not
Same thing with entangle, it doesn’t seem to work half the time. It would be useful if it actually did what it said, but alas, much like Sic em.. it doesn’t work half the time.
Revealed doesnt stack.
If the thief already has 1 sec revealed left on him, when you cast sickem , your revealed wont take hold, and hes free 1 sec later.
If you properly time your sickem to cast the moment after his existing revealed drops, then you get him for 4 secs.
Most wvw thives will pop out of stealth with 3 secs of revealed if they attacked. so you got to cast your sickem after that ends. Just need to get used to recognising the debuff icon. It flashes extra fast just before it drops.
It’s not so bad, you only need to get your pet to attack the thief with sick em within the 3 second window that they have the reveal on them, same goes for entangle.
Sarcasm… now for the real deal:
The thief has how many different ways of getting back into stealth? Hmm let’s analyze this and weight our options:
- Many ways of going into stealth, most of which cause little, no danger, or create a positive effect for the thief (health, condition removal, can obtain boons, confusing your enemy, a good chance to avoid damage and open with heavy damage on the enemy).
vs
- I just blew through a 150 second cool down elite and a 40 second cool down skill that did nothing to the thief and gained zero boons of any kind at all, in fact I am more vulnerable now that I have less options to survive with.
Next on the December 10th patch – no changes to the above – dun dun duuuuun

my problem has never been being able to land “sic em” to use reveal, it’s always, what happens after my 4 seconds are out? of course sic em is now on a 40 sec CD while the thief can simply go into stealth multiple times and evade my attacks? Unless you have enough DPS to down thief or thief is just bad, 4 sec reveal is a very small window of opportunity to actually be able to do much damage.
I usually take advantage of this time window with more CCs from pets and stuns, but any decent thief can dodge and blind me enough to make the window disappear rather quick without taking much damage. Bad thieves? well, no one ever complains about those, they just die

I’ve yet to have this skill bug, at all, it’s been the death of so many thieves lol.

Really? Rangers not to harass you guys but when you play glassy pure range specs you cant come at the forum and shout for us thieves to be nerfed… Everything got a hard counter for example we hit backstab stealth thieves are weak to engineers. when you run pure glassy you cant espect to survive a thief. Play a defensive or a half defensive spec before you come here shouting at the forums i used about 20 minutes to kill a spirit ranger think on that… so try somthing defensive or just deal with it.

Just like thieves didn’t cry about a “stealthed” jaguar hitting them for 8k crits because they were glass? Why didn’t thieves get a “defensive” build against a stealthed jaguar instead of QQ for a pet damage nerf?
Thank you for being a hypocrite. Steath abusing thief thinks getting hit by crit in stealth is OP so pet damage gets nerfed but suggests rangers to get a “defensive” build when ranger’s talk about stealth abusing thief.

You mean like the metric kittentons of thieves that cried a river when anet announced the reveal on sic em rather than learn to adapt?
who uses this skill anyway? lol
who uses this skill anyway? lol
It was amazingly useful during the beast master build glory days, when we could send the pet to attack for us while we provided support for our group. Target an enemy far away, use call of the wild, send pet (preferably jaguar for the stealth) run sick em, signet of the wild, quickening zephyr and rampage as one, if the enemy was glass cannon or anything close to it they would die from a well timed pet burst.
Nowadays? If you run with a group and are using a beast master build then maybe, if you can pull it off it helps, applies to pvp as well, it’s just not 100% reliable.

In fact 10th December patch obliterates perma-stealth thief build. They will no longer be able to “stack” stealth that easily with Heartseeker across Smoke Fields provided by Blinding Powder from OH pistol. It’s still possible to stack duration of stealth (which, outside of big cd is pretty bad), but not without large cost in initiative. It’s because of trait which now gives them back almost whole cost of Heartseeker when they leap over field, extending stealth. After 10th December, they’ll only regain that cost one, on first Leap/Blast/Stealth because it will proc only on entering stealth. Which means, to trigger it again, they have to come out of stealth with Revealed debuff and enter it once again, being vunerable for that time. And oh, their condition cleanse while in stealth also gets nerf hit as far as I believe.
So what might be the situation of our ol’perma-stealth D/P?
Well, they will still stealth often during the fight, but not for long. They won’t sit in it endlessly, reseting fights or getting away with no problem. Maximum of 6 second stealth (only when traited deeply into nerfed trait and with full initiative bar, which is very, very rare in the middle of fight when you want to use any skills) will increase room for counterplay. Average stealth will be normal 3 seconds which perfectly fits our blocks, evades and timed dodges. Long stealth won’t be achieved easily : only by Shadow Refuge cd (always been OP ability for cooldown, but well…), reseting your Initiative via using active effect of one of Thief’s signets(not very common one, at least across majority) or with help of others l, providing blast finishers for Area Stealth. None of these will be as easy as playing D/P now and should actually require some better skill and timing, we may also see return of D/D and (hopefully not, but eh..) increase in number of “Warrior-Troll” P/D Thieves.

That’s good news for most of the player base who struggles to succeed vs your random decently played d/p thief, however does this solve most of the ranger balance issues? I think not. Although I am curious to see how Sick Em will change after this update, will rangers find it useful against thieves again? I say we all provide feedback, honestly put your rangers on the line, I don’t have high hopes for it but no one achieved anything by keeping their hands in their pockets.

D/D backstabbing zerk theives will once again be the bane of WvW with the upcoming patch. increase initiative regen will only grant D/D thieves more mobility, but I’d rather fight a D/D thief over a stealth stacking D/P thief any day, at least I have more of fighting chance to catch the sucker lol.
Mao Xiong – Worst Warrior GW2
D/D isn’t that big issue since it can’t stealth just by itself, Thief has to use CnD. Our class stuggles here again, because CnD can be easily used on our pet which obviously won’t mind, however, D/D is fairly easier fight than good D/P.
As Sick Em! – It is a will be viable. Now it’s sometimes necessary to win with good permastealther. After it won’t. Reveal is always good.

I’m worried about the amount stealth D/D thieves can do it’s the insane backstabbing damage of Zerk thieves that i’m not looking forward to. Though I would love to be able to dodge every backstabbing attempt, I know it’s just not possible so I am having flashbacks of being 2 shotted in Berserker gear back when I was still a nub
Would be nice to get some revenge now though lol
