Warden - December patch
The only problem I see here is not enough condition cleanse, but the most guys in zergs rely on power anyway. Stats are already looking very nice. Btw, the sigils of battle and energy won’t work together.
If you really want to use the upcoming patch to the maximum WvW zerg effectiveness you should really be traiting for the new bark skin that cuts damage by half at 25% health instead of 1/3.
Only suffers from a lower crit chance but with spotter you’ll even out a bit while providing ally support.
Healing spring can be taken if you want condition removal plus water field, i just put troll ungent cause i prefer that than others, since new runes will be giving reduce condition duration I dont think youll be needing much condition removal, in wvw youll be getting lots of regeneration so its pretty much a waiting game for condition to expire, its pretty rare for you to drop cause of condition damage.
Bark skin doesnt activate till 25%, I dont think thats worth it even with 50% reduction in damage. Dont know if condition damage is reduced as well on bark skin, but id rather be invulnerable for 6 seconds than have 50% damage reduction at 25% health in wvw then you have 50+ people on you i think bark skin would only last you for like 3 seconds with that much pressure.
ANet proposal for Ranger (MAY HAPPEN)
Possible build around these patches, I have come up with:More reason for us Rangers to survive in the front lines.
These are just base on my reference above, and is not yet in its final stage.
And how do you plan to survive in the melee wvw front line while your build has no any skill that break stun?

26 sec. once in 2 min., +10 sec. from SoW once in 48 sec., and what will you do the rest time? Warrior`s delay of hammerstun is less then 8 sec, in zerg it`s almost non stop. Also there`s no any condition cleaning skill in this build = stun, immobilize, full bouquet of conditions, dead.
Well I play on Ring Of Fire and zerg fights don’t last that much, I was talking from my pov Anyway I agree on the lack of condition removal, maybe add in HS.

I dont get your problem here, people have a choice of swapping troll for spring for cleanse and aoe water field. i set the skills doesnt mean you cant change it to your preference. im just simply laying the blue print which is utilizing runes plus aegis per signet use. if runes are true and it decreases condition duration you just need to outlast the condition then and its not like im the only one going to the front line of the zerg, front line means guard with cleansing bolt most of the time plus warrior stunlock builds or banner blast, staff ele on the back line. its a team game, not solo que.

The most interesting about a trait like Barkskin is if you go max Vitality (Sentinel or Shaman). You should be able to reach 30.000 health with traits, runes and food. So at 25% health you still have 7500 health. You start taking half damage at that point, so the last 7500 feels like 15000 (unless you take condition damage). So, 30.000 health will feel like 37.500 health.
If you can afford sentinel armor, you’ll have a good amount of toughness as well. Bad damage, but it would be fun to see what it’s like.

Thats mainly a PvE trait. If you have 20,000 hp then this will proc at 5000 hp. At that low health it is really only beneficial if you are running a regen/heal based build. It’s mainly good at stopping attrition based attacks. Conditions still eat through it and big attacks would too. 5k CnD + 7k backstab. 50% off of those is still 6000.
It’s great for PvE players, really makes ranger the best champ soloer when leveling with bears and all that, but the average WvW group wont have much trouble.
EDIT: Interesting to see Hollands take on it, and I can see that being viable. Problem is that is a full tank build, people would just leave you tbh. I’d like to see where this trait could go.
EDIT2: Got me really interested for a second there, look at this. Hollands idea could be hilarious. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fMAQNAR8YnEVkFcXQKWAaZAp9ITskz7VYWcPGFUJEPZUNTC-j0CBYfJDZUQmgAiEBmIAInrIasV1FRjVpjIqWnEz6DzjjIqWKgUWGB-w

Knights armor gives you the best stats and all but in an actual zerg scenario, you should be wearing PVT. That being said as a commander I love the idea of having a ranger who doesn’t just pew pew in the back and truly contributes to the group. Nice build!

Thank you. Im just giving out ideas there that maybe other ranger players could improve much more. And above comment before this one, sentinel bark skin build is interesting specially maxing your health to 30k. Lol. If only we have more runes that play with vitality that would open up more builds.

Thieves don’t exist in the front line of a zerg and that build is meant for that, not fart’n around the sides and back where you get hit by D/x theives. Barkskin is there as an insurance policy for when things go south and you have to get to the commander when water fields go down or just get off to the side to heal yourself. I run frontline on Blackgate and the only times where I regularly get downed is long, drawn out fights in keeps/smc or when a fight goes really bad really quick and we all get wiped and having 50% damage reduction when things are in the red will help considerably in both situations.
