Q:
Why can't pets attack dragons?
A:
Pets don’t attack dragons as they have more sense than us!
They often refuse to attack objects such as gates as well. Not at all fair when a large portion of our damage was designated to them.
It’s a good thing they don’t attack the dragons since they get one shotted, right?
Pet’s are one of the biggest bugs when it comes to rangers and it’s been that way since the beginning and I don’t see them fixing it any time soon, because we all know their track record with the ranger.

Good point. Why don’t they attack certain inanimate objects either?
It’s frustrating.

Actually, I wouldn’t know since they don’t attack dragons. I never get one shotted against dragons, so I don’t see why my pet would. But so what? It should be my choice to send in the pet regardless. Maybe it would get in a few hits before killed. As of now, it’s a waste against dragons.
I guess I should bring out my brown bear or something with F2 buffs. At least that would be something.

It’s ‘cause the Ranger DPS is so incredibly high that the balancing-team couldn’t justify further damage from this unstoppable sentinel-class.
It’s an important mechanism created to prevent Rangers from soloing dragons.
Ow,
i shall send you greetings from the sarcasm front; sadly most Rangers are too drunk to for further discussion.
They all started drinking after the recent “animation-fix”.
They begged me to apologize for not showing up in person.

Pets just don’t seem to attack most inanimate objects. Like those rotten heads that pop out of the ground at Orr or like giant clams under the sea. I guess you can add epic mobs to the list also. Has anyone reported this bug in the sticky thread?
I don’t have this issue, i always tell my pet to attack the dragons foot as i pew pew the dragons face, I’ve noticed that my pets tend to be too cool to attack gates though… that always bugs the kitten out of me…

Pets don’t attack when the dragon is on a “inanimate object” mode? LOL u know the yellow name label? Like Claw of Jormag in the last phase it wont attack its head when its shielding is up. But once its down and u can target its foot, my pet rushes in for those. Same with Shatterer and Tequatl. If the feet targets are up, tequatl is all the time, my pet is attacking fine. Shatterer sometimes its out of range when it hides and does its crystal things, u cant even fire arrows at it at that point. Otherwise my pet attacks fine.
some inanimate targets do bug me however. Why doesn’t it attack one but attacks another? I think its something to do with the classification of the item/object/target behind the scenes, in code. There’s a few versions/types and pets dont attack certain ones.
I don’t think its a pure bug persay but something they overlooked. Something to do with classifications i think. I notice its consistent in not attacking certain objects. it won’t attack it and then not attack it another time.
Works fine on my Mesmer.. on my Ranger, not so much.
