[sPvP] Which Viable Builds Do You See?
I think this needs some serious refinement, but it’s probably where I’d start. I guarantee you this is not the best option.

Again this ins’t a complete build at all but, I’ll be starting with it to see how it goes:

Ranger most likely still won’t be a top tier class though.
edit: not a beastmaster build, just a variation of condi sorry

im starting out with 3 builds. first one i’ll test is basically the popular condi bunker with settler stats, but i’ll simply be adding the maxed out BM line to it for Beastly Warden and double birds. we’re no longer pigeon-holed into using canines with BW. axe 1 AA to stack might on my birds, which will be critting for insane damage. 0/0/6/6/6, a/d +s/t
the second build I wanna try is a survival/BM/trapper 0/6/6/0/6. either melee weapons as above, or SB/s/x if Poison Volley is good, with Strider’s Defense. 2 traps, 1 survival utility, TU and Entangle.
the third build I wanna try is the glassbow but with quickdraw and WK, 6/6/6/0/0. not sure if this one will be viable.
I will certainly try the living arrowcart troll build with dual longbows and Quickdraw.
Another contender for me is the remorseless melee ranger with valkyrie stats.
Then there is of course the condi bunker.
I think, the new meta will see way less builds dedicated to a single type of utility skills and far more mix and match, as traiting into a utility skill type takes far less of an investment now.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.
6/0/0/6/6
Marks: Clarion Bond, Brutish Seals, Remorseless
Nature: Allies Aid, Windborne Notes, Nature’s Vengeance
BM: Resounding Timbre, 2 Handed Training, Zephyr’s Speed
Valkyrie Amulet, Altruism Runes
GS-Battle/Intel, S-Battle, WH-Energy
“HaO”, Stone Spirit, SoTW, SoR, Entangle
Owl/Wolf for bulk damage/CC
I’m assuming (!) Stone Spirit gets a decent boon from NV and also retains its protection proc. You can place it in LoS away from a point while you are defending, I think they will be usable if the boons are good from NV and the spirit has a decent range. If they are forced off the point to kill your spirit, you trigger it. It has served its purpose imo.

0/6/6/0/6
I’m also thinking that a Celestial/Mad King LB [/url]build could be nice;
Sharpened Edges, Hidden Barbs, Quick Draw
Oakheart Salve, Refined Toxins, Wilderness Knowledge
Go For The Eyes, Wilting Strike, Beastly Warden
Hawk/Owl (extra 600 toughness!)
LB-Air/Fire, S-Hydromancy, T-Geomancy
TU, MT, LR, QZ, Entangle
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-Jo-Fk;1FVx-p2REF-0;9V-2;1Z_b;0056147036;4ING7V;90W
Or, this with same trait lines;
0/6/6/0/6
Condi Poison Master
A-Doom, WH-Geomancy / S- Doom, T-Geomancy
Settler’s Amulet, Krait Runes
Hound/Wolf
HS, Spike Trap, Viper’s Nest, SoR, Entangle
Trappers Expertise, Hidden Barbs, Quick Draw
Oakheart Salve, Refined Toxins, Poison Master
Go for the Eyes, Wilting Strike, Beastly Warden.
Edit: None of these into-the-mists links for for me…

What do you think may be the meta build for Rangers then?
I’m going to hold off posting any builds for awhile. When you compare the trait changes to what they released a month or so ago, it seems like they are pretty nerf happy at the moment. I don’t want to post something that they might consider too powerful and watch it disappear (while at the same time watching them give engi a jet pack to fly around faster)

Probably the same as it is now, condis and LBs. There are just a few new features for both. LBs have some added utility/condi removal, etc.
We can only go so far with theorycrafting, we’ll have to see what happens when we play against other people’s new builds as well. We’re not the only new thing in PvP.
SHOUTBEAR! the shoutbow 2.0!
i can not say what top tier will be like as i don’t play there.
but here are some builds that jump out at me.
BM bunker i cant decided between oak and expertise training in in the WS line
Rabid, Rampager or Cele shortbow and ill be doing this with sinister stats in roaming
^oak, go for the eyes, and wilting strike imo.
yeh that’s the other choices that i will be experimenting with in a bm bunker.
I don’t no that you need the extra damage reduction from oak in a bunker but the condi damage with cats and bleed on crit might be strong (remember base ling stat boosts for pets and minor). Go for the eyes will do wonders for keeping a pet alive in team fights.
I’m not sure the value of taking all the on F2 buffs as the first 2 sec are going to be less useful due to taunt, but the more conditions on the player the more that need to be removed

pets are going to be packed with utility. people will definitely have to start paying attention to them.
I’m looking foreword to have agility training as base line in a BM build, it means cats should connect a lot more.
it will help. but Im skeptical about cats. I feel they were overnerfed and just don’t do any burst right now. birds seem to be the better choice for BM and theyre 100% reliable.

I agree. Cats are fine for pve but birds are a lot more reliable in pvp.
LGN
I don’t disagree, and taunt plus owl/raven spike is should be good. The only reason i’m leaning towards cats is that the bird swiftness is only going to be useful to the player and allies around, it will be wasted on the bird which is currently a primary reason that i use birds over cats
6/6/6/0/0 will be one of the best damage options for both power and condition builds.
6/0/6/6/0 will probably be the best power build taking into consideration how it will function against other meta builds versus how power ranger playstyle is most effective (as in, Quickdraw is amazing but a typical power build tends to not swap weaponsets often enough to take advantage of it and NM+Clarion in MM gives the power build the utility it needs that is otherwise currently keeping it from being a meta contender).
0/6/6/6/0 is also an option for both power and condition builds, but particularly effective on an evasion tank style build with Axe/Dagger Sword/Torch (6/6/6/0/0 would have similar evasive abilities but less damage “sponge” ability in trade for more condition damage output with the vulnerability changes).
6/0/6/0/6, 0/6/6/0/6 and 0/0/6/6/6 will all be alternatives and options for the things I’ve mentioned, but will definitely need testing to see when the F2 traits trigger in their animations they trigger to see how “on demand” they are, because the more on demand they are, the better those traits get.
The only limitation I see on builds is having to go Wilderness for now. Outside of that, with the right combination of stats and weapons corresponding to the traits, any 2 lines combined with Wilderness has potential, and the only way we’ll know for sure is to see how the builds all function and mold them to fit wherever the shortest meta period lands (the shortest meta period foreseeable being next week until expansion drop).

I have to agree, the only must is WS and i don’t see how i can fit in poison master as it is currently a trait that is use a lot.

engi and thief are getting additional F skills, maybe they will rework ours to give us better control of the pets so we can choose when to use things like swiftness.
