Patience young padawan. Changes are surely coming next week for all classes. Like it always do.
not this week?, Master Jedi?
not this week?, Master Jedi?
They need time to not only read the feedback, but parse through it for the nuggets that can be found there. Then comes the brainstorming sessions to see what suggestions stick, and what may lead to new ideas as well. Then they need to figure out what is within the realm of possibilities (not all suggestions fit within current engine’s capabilities I’m sure). Finally thought on how proposed changes would affect other skills, play styles, and balance. Once this is done then they can start setting up the trials and testing.
Things like that take time.
Still nothing..Im dying!

Surely big changes incoming. I hope so. If mallyx and jalis still as they are i’m definitly going to main chrono in HOT. Don’t like the idea of being dependant of one legend (glint) who is clearly overpowered compared to others and only can take glint/shiro and ventari when they are 5 legends available.
Still waiting to buy a few items to see what these changes are kinda hoping they come this week.

I dont enjoy that boonbot either. Jalis is much better to play around but sadly hes too weak in current state. Still having hope to play without herald (arcana) traitline and remain viable.

I have to disagree that Glint is overpowered. The base legends all fill a niche role while Glint fills a general role. Or at least fills a niche that every role can use. Honestly, I can see future elite specs being like this as well. Say the next one has wells so now we have ground targetted AoE, which revenant lacks outside of a few hammer skills.

Well Engi’s and Druids got their news… so that leaves Revenants, Mesmers, and Necro’s (maybe Warriors? I do not watch that one).

Overall, after the last BWE, we felt like revenant was in a solid spot. For launch we mainly focused on bug fixing and a few outliers such as changing the second hit of the sword auto-attack as well as speeding up the tablet move speed.
That’s not to say that there aren’t more things we are thinking about how to improve or tweak, but we want the profession to get in more playtime and thus more feedback before we make any more larger changes. I’m definitely reading all the feedback and taking under consideration for future changes so keep up the awesome work.
I work on systems, combat, skills, and balance.
No news is goof news in this case. Can you just tell us how AA is going to change? Revenant has low aoe/cleave on AA except that projectile you’re removing. It uset to “emulate” cleave very well. Are we getting some range/buff to make up for it?
Roy I hope you won’t vanish on us after launch!
Kidel, we will get vuln with the attack.

So your happy with how good it is/plays, how about how balanced it is compared to others? (core classes) for now revenant counters every other power class. and when they spec condi they also counters every condi class.
This issnt only for Rev but also for allot more new Elite specs you/Anet brought into this game. some core classes have NO place or chance anymore against new (combined) stuff you/Anet put on this class and other elites.

Any plans on UI adjustments for Herald F2? The positioning is atrocious, imho.

We need to have players get more time with them in general to see how things play out. We’ve made a lot of changes in beta weekends, but once they are live and people really spend a lot of time playing with them it will give us better data. We want non-elite spec builds to be viable as well. There will be balance patches to address and adjust things.

I believe in the last beta there wasn’t final UI for it. It’ll be placed as a smaller icon above the middle of the energy bar for launch.

All along from the reveal, bb had 2 vuln for 6 seconds. This is left unchanged, so depending on the cleave it could just be a nerf.
Maybe it was 4 vuln before, since it used to hit on the way back. So even on vuln it may be a nerf

Cleave will be 3 target obviously. I dont consider it as a nerf by any means. You would get half of the projectile effect against walls uneven terrain or 0 like in my vid. Also mobs wil deflect/reflect would prevent you from doing any damage. That QoL change is also a buff. It wont hit 5 targets? Well who care. Sword wasnt designed to be a cleave weapon either way. That will be a job for future wep – gs.

Half vuln and maybe damage is a nerf.
Projectile spreading far and returning should be considered.
I almost never had any issue with that attack. It was amazing 99% of the time

great moment to ask u this roy my friend
do u think 4 balance patches per year are enough?
i know its like doubling the frequency, but i think a lot of people read months ago a great thread about the problem of NOT fixing problems when they arise, but months later, after threads and threads of complains
i think every 3 months are still too less to stabilize the balancing ingame and just 2 weeks time to fix them is again too less. I assume that u wont change the things while a pvp season is live, enough time for a profession to find OP stuff and “exploit” them to gain huge advantages in leagues and rankings
I think every 2 weeks a small balancing or even every month would be good
i always read “internal testings” agreed for new effects, trait overhauls and so on, but for tweaking numbers? as a business u are afraid of doing mistakes balance wise, but for simple number tweaks, let the playerbase test it. after 2-4 weeks u can change it again, but it is better to live 3 months or in the past half a year with disgusting builds running around
in short: every 3 months balancing still too long, make it more frequently

the skrittfinisher was my idea!
Well, no changes on Jailis or Mallyx? And what about Glint being very superior to others? I admit i’m a little disappointed, i’m really looking forward chronomancer. Don’t really want to play an half class (jailis and mallyx being near useless) who can only choose one legend (glint pretty mandatory) and limited to three legends when they are five.
(edited by gannondorf.7628)
Roy, I just wanna know if there’s gonna be any potential changes to Embrace the Darkness. I feel like that skill is still the most underwhelming on the revenant’s kitten nal at the moment
Glint is not superior to others. Just a better synergic legend (aoe boons are a good combo with every other legend). Glint+Shiro > Shiro+Mallyx/Ventari/whatever.
Glint+Glint wouldn’t be so great.
Shiro is probably the best legend overall.
I agree on Jalis and Mallyx needing tweaks and Ventari too. But that does not depend on Glint. You’ll still probably never run Shiro+Ventari

I don’t think so, shiro is good but have a clear role: mobility and speed. It still squishy and remain on evade and unrelenting assault with enchanted daggers (or impossible odds and auto) for quickly heal himself.
Glint in other hand have just to much: the heal is a second health bar, she share boons and is a boon generator but she is an amazing dps too (maybe the best coz shiro dps is clearly based on impossible odds). She is the fast legend too with acces to perma swiftness. She can do all the things and that’s why she’s clearly superior to others when others legends have a defined role (shiro: mobility, Ventari: heal, Jalis: Tank, Mallyx: Condi). Actually glint is pretty mandatory in all builds. Mallyx is really undertuned now with the changes so shiro/mallyx is not that great. Jalis serve near to nothing. And Ventari is situational but that’s fine coz it’s pure healing. At last i’m a little disappointed by this, a versatile class who is designed to be the successor of ritualist (which are the most versatile class in gw1) actually is not really as versatile as it’s sound. Being stuck in some legends and never using is full panel of possibilities.
Glint is jack of all trades and master of none.
She is not the best at dps, not the best at support, not the best at tanking (supposedly) and has 0 condi management.
She just fits well in any legend combination.
She is good at supporting ventari, jalis, shiro and even mallyx
Yeah I agree that Glint kinda throws the whole class’ balance off the window. She just has too much. It’s also the legend with by far the easiest energy management.

That’s too. Compared to others legend’s energy. Glint utilities are a child game to use and manage.

Revenant in general has little to condi management. If you’re not using staff or using mallyx for resistance glint is actually the legend that make’s you more tanky to condi (her heal is quite HUGE) and i myself never had bad time against condi with Glint/shiro Mace/shield and Sword/axe and vampirism runes. Actually Jalis is supposed to hold the tank role but he is just a kitten and useless as hell when glint have a second health bar, acces to regen, protection and blind.
For me she’s clearly the best dps too. Look at shiro, the only way to deal great dammages with utilities is or with jade wind or with impossible odds. Glint have actually a pretty strong aoe, a solid dps tool wit facet of strengh (and acces to 20 stack of vulnerability! And his elite actually deal better dammage than jade wind and have acces to knockback (thing that make at least equal to 3 sec of stun). Moreover, coz she is easy to manage, you have more energy to throw in your weapons skills, making by the way the more damages. I’m not really saying she’s OP, even if her healing skill need some tweeks like more visuals, but she actually hold all the revenant’s power. She’s clearly superior to any other legend, and by far.
I really enjoy the revenant and i was myself maining a ritualist in the first franchise. But for now i think revenant need work, it seems incomplete and have a way to go that don’t really please me for a class supposed versatile.
(edited by gannondorf.7628)
Well i wouldnt really put Glint in op tier. People will adapt to heal and thats when troubles will start.. Howered i agree its too easy to manage energy on Glint.
Its more that Jalis is simply too weak atm to perform his tank role.
Playing Smite since mid s2, f broken gw2.
Is there any damage change to Brutal Blade as a part of removing the projectile?
I’m very sad to hear that Mallyx, after tons and tons of feedback, is still considered to be in a good place. I really want to have faith that the feedback is heard and we’ll get him back to his former glory (if not with same mechanic, at least with something equally impressive that flows well with his own traits).
Unfortunately it is looking like somebody put their foot down that Mallyx had to be the boring version it is now and then put their fingers in their ears about anything else regarding him. Please Roy, tell me this isn’t true, or better yet, show us by being creative with what his theme could turn into.

That’d be exactly what I’d have proposed. Awesome
Well I guess we are going to have 3 months of Rev op shiro+glint on the new wvw maps. For sure I won’t be logging anything else but a nomad druid or a zerker Rev. My warrior, guardian and thief will just have to wait it out for the balance patches.
There is going to be a whole bunch of heavies shelved while this sorts itself out. Not sure where the clenses in the melee train are coming from (won’t be druid)
An update on underwater would be nice, since going underwater and discovering you have no utility skills on either legend is a bit of a problem.
I know quite a few would love feedback on dev standing when it comes to herald ground icon/graphic. Those concerned feel it is to big and would like to see it toned down a bit, if not in size then in color mass as the center circle ground graphic takes some space and focus away. At the same time it is understandable that other more pressing concerns are of priority.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore

Why not 3 months of scrappers? These guys are dd eles 2.0 everything into one package and unlike revs they do not rely on opponent mistakes to heal up.
