Crystal Hibernation
Yeah the main different for this skill from shield stance, the warrior shield 5 skill, is you get a heal. It’s the same cool down without an option to trait for a lower cool down and it costs energy on top of that but to compensate for the heal you get rooted and can be broken for a massive debuff where as the warrior one cannot but broken by direct cc.
Unless the heal scales really well it seems to just be a weaker or at least far riskier version of warrior shield 5.

Yeah the heal seems really strong, maybe even to strong.
4x 900 heal that’s nearly the amount of a usual heal skill. Okay it has twice as much cooldown as a heal skills with 3500-4000 heal, but still.
But I would like to see the possibility to move while channeling that skill. And not to get stunned/vulnerable when it breaks. Then I guess it would be fine.
I dont wanna healing and defiance bars
just make move while channeling :-0
What if the defiance bar regenerated too? That way foes have to unload cc in a burst to break you out or else they’ll simply have to wait till you pop out yourself. I also wished that they added some effect or bonus if you channel the entire skill. If there’s a downside to it being broken thee should be an upside to getting through the entire skill too. What if this skill was an upkeep? Just a thought. XD
Your first example is a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy. You are not pointing out a failure in the skill, but a failure in the player revenant to not consider that the mesmer would shatter the clones for dazes.
I think the skill is close to what Renewed Focus is to a Guardian, but it is on a much shorter CD (30s). The mobility is an issue when you take in consideration there’s a trait that triggers this skill at 25% health, but at the same time the heal is strong so that other players are pressured to break the defiance bar on you. Adding mobility would probably come at a cost of a much smaller heal since it offers a bigger chance to avoid being CC’d and thus less counter-play.
I don’t think it’s more powerful than Renewed Focus, here’s why.
1) Renewed Focus resets cooldowns on good abilities that can be condi clears and stun breaks.
2) Renewed Focus gives invulnerability.
3) You are not rooted when casting Renewed Focus.
CH is still very good don’t get me wrong.
1) About 2/3 of a heal skill worth of healing.
2) Much less cooldown than RF.
To me that looks favorable to RF and I don’t think CH would be overpowered if you could move while casting.

I believe Roy mentioned that he was running Marauder when previewing the Shield skills, so I guess healing numbers may be quite decent.
The worst part of this skill is that it’s immobile. And last thing you want is Grandmaster that makes you immobile for 3s when dropped to 25% health. With possibility of getting stunned right after.

i think it’s sounds worse than it is, even if you are bound to a spot, while you are bound you are also being healed, than we have also seen that he can cancel it midway, meaning before the defiance bar breaks you jump out of it. Next the herald has various options to get out of the pinch, like using the facet of nature passive, heal passive+active, using sword 3 for evasion or simply switch legendaries for additional options. The rev got a big overhaul and i am looking forward to try it out.

Yeah not sure i like the sound of root as a proc.
but also the thing i want to point out is unlike RF from Guardians, in theory this skill shouldnt remove capture point contribution so it can be pretty good in SPvP. Also if it gets broken, doesnt Herald have a stun breaker and condition transfer on Glint?
Well i plan to give marauder sword/sword and sword/shield a shot in spvp. After all youll end up camping sword in 1v1 most of the time if you use hammer. Rebember that during teamfights people running out of cd’s quite fast. I do not think that breaking defiance bar will be that easy to break, but i actually hope it will be. 25 stacks of vul+insta heal on Glint which turns damage into healing? Honestly i cant ask for a better synergy. AT ALL. Yeah the selfroot sux but its worth to give it a shot.
Anyone else thinks this skill resemble this?

I’d like it if they froze your character’s animation while you were inside the bubble to make it seem like you were encased in crystal instead of just having a dome around you. I’d like to see “Infuse Light” from Glint’s heal skill moved here. They could remove the damage reduction from the ability and grant you this while channeling instead which turns all incoming damage into healing anyways. That way this skill would reflect Glint’s Crystal Hibernation a bit closer and add a higher potential heal and the counter play of just not hitting you while channeling. Giving you Vigor to restore endurance as well while using this skill would be a nice touch. As for Facet of Light… Revenant’s have two legends – 3 with Glint – that offer a heal skill that is tough to use in emergencies. Shiro’s requires you to attack and not be nursed down before you can get the heal from the siphons, Ventari’s will NOT save you, and Glint’s can be countered by not being attacked. I think it would be nice if Glint offered a heal that can save you in a tight situation. Something like a base heal plus extra per boon on you. Then it’d have major synergy with your facets and you’d probably want to use it when you have them up!

Actually im curious about one thing tho. Is that thing usable during stuns? It has no casttime so i assume yes..

No thats the ground target concentration skill that Guardians never use because it sucks

Ah, I did not mean that it was more powerful or weaker than Renewed Focus, just comparable.
Overall the issue is that Crystal Hibernation is negatively affected by the Defiance Bar:
- Defiance Bar requires you to still give hits to your enemy (they will still deal 0 damage) because making you Invulnerable would prevent CCs from working in the first place. This allows builds that capitalize on Critical Hits to still be effective and build buffs when attacking the revenant.
- To allow counter-play, you are rooted in your location, which in turn affects your ability to bunker a point in PvP or survive a focus fire in WvW.
These two issues make me feel it would be better if Crystal Hibernation sacrificed some aspect (like the impressive healing) in order to enable one to move while casting it.

My list was more just to sort of show that if the Rev was allowed to move while using it I don’t think it would make it overpowered.
I think the whole defiance bar thing got a reaction of “wow this skill is crazy awesome!” but when you think about it it’s worse than just a normal invulnerable state. The heal is great, but like you said allowing enemies to skill crit us for 0 damage actually helps them.
I hope I’m wrong but I’m not sure this skill will see as much use as most of us initially thought when it was previewed. This game’s combat is too active, rooting in place should only be meant for skills that can really change the outcome of a fight like Meteor Shower and Ice Storm. I could be wrong but I don’t think this skill has that level of impact in a fight.
Jade Quarry
The BIGGEST issue I have with this trait is the set absorbtion rate. Things like thief pistol 4 are barely a cc, and can be spammed easily. It should be based on the strength of the daze/stun, otherwise there will be too much risk, and will ony be useable vs some classes you know can’t cc u
