I’m so sick of getting hit with 15k CoR and 6k Hammer Bolts that revenants spam out. All they do is press 1 and 2 and you cannot get to them because you die before gap closing. With survivability through the roof with unlimited evades, blocks, resistance and invulnerable/heal skill it’s even more rediculous. One trick pony build that has 1200 range decapitate on a 2sec recharge with 6k AA to weave in. It wouldn’t be so bad if the skills for hammer actually had a tell so you could dodge them.

I’m thinking 50% damage reduction on those 2 skills and shorten infuse light to 2 seconds to match the trait version. Probably increase the cd on the evades and blocks aswell.

Here is a vid of me trying to fight them with various classes/builds. 6k hammer bolts on my condi reaper. Cannot land any melee attacks with my power warrior. Evade spam ignoring/triggering my dh tapper. Even got my hybrid hammer rev out and we pretty much kill eachother in 3seconds because power overload.

Game is unplayable. They should at least consider increasing downed state survivability if I’m going to keep getting one shot, and maybe increase the effectiveness of weakness on revenants. It makes sense because they draw their power from the mists and so their muscles are not as strong in the first place. I can find the lore if needed.

I don’t understand the point of this, you’re saying hammer rev is op yet it dies constantly? isn’t that what full glass builds do o.o
Hammer rev is bad in 1v1, slow, clunky and easy to outplay in melee.
A thief who can dodge their initial snipe will destroy it, and clearly every other class.

6k damage per CoR means they only need 5 not 10 and they’re doing it from 1200 range on a short cooldown. It is all about context, in 1v1 CoR is fine. I have no prob instantly dying to 20 staff guards pressing 1 on me, but 5 revs taking barely any risk downing me from 1200 when I’m running tanky stats is just bs. Meteor shower is far better concept. It takes risk/skill to cast, does good damage but gives you a fighting chance to mitigate the extreme burst damage. CoR bomb is OP for the amount of players required to coordinate an instant downing of other players for no risk at long range.

CoR has a slow animation which can be dodged by just walking sidewards. When hitting a 15k CoR crit, either the Rev or/and you are glasscannons. I have 3000 strength, 70% crit rate and 210% crit damage, I dont hit above 9k since most of WvW players have some defense.

Dont let them pirateship, and when theyre behind the melee-kitten just organize a focus party. Whats the matter? Ele Meteor does more damage. Have 5 Meteors → all who cant dodge are dead.

CoR imo isn’t that good. AGainst good raid blobs, (who have permanent protection and some of them minstrel gear), it does only 4k damage and is healed immediately, and you loose your targets in the stacking.

Secondly if the enemy moves, and you move, it’s like only 750 range spell, since, it only starts from your starting position and while you walk it slowly moves forward. So you will rarely catch ppl with it.

Also auto attack spam? A good zerg/blob has tons of guardians, everywhere reflect. Nr 1 is suicide, except against bad zergs, and downed ppl.

I agree rev is strong, but guardian is much stronger and much more op imo. With their ‘convert power to condi damage’ they are celestial tanky, tons of blocks, perma boons (stability and retaliation also wich are rare now), and they do ok power damage and good burn damage. Also guardian while also weak in 1 vs 1 can pack more of a punch in duel then hammer rev.

I only recently started playing rev in blobs (about 50 hours playtime on it now). It’s strong in certain situations, but weak in others. When you play it you will realize it. Stability is a very weak part of rev. 3 stacked line of wardings, and you will not cross, unless you have dedicated stand your ground guardian in squad/party.

The biggest reason i play rev is not cause it’s so much overpowered, (ranger and engineer could do also ranged devastation if played well) but for having 3 skills that bypass reflect meta. Reflect is to strong, killing 4 longbow skills, 5 mortar skills, etc. CoR, phase smash, and drop the hammer are good tools against that.

Legendary weapons can be hidden now!
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.

Semi-unrelated; I made/played a Rev a couple weeks ago for the first time. Had a lot of fun but it took some getting used to. I wasn’t approaching fights properly at all because I was treating them like they needed to be over as fast as possible. Then I realized Rev is very much a damage avoidance profession, which was when things started to go a lot more smoothly.

Won a couple 1vX and had a nice long 1v1 with a solid D/P Thief. I wasn’t very good but I’m glad I gave it a try, it helped me to understand a few things I was unsure of and gave me a little more appreciation for the class.

Still not my bag though. I’m too in love with my main four to care much for anything else, lol.

I know.. Right? But seriously… Don’t use hamrev in melee… Swap to SW/AX and with Axe3 + SW2 you would have downed that warrior with your reventant. You have died in all the videos because you don’t swap and try to use the HamReventant in melee.

And put some marauders in there… Seeing you full zerker is painful to watch.

Stopped reading seriously here. Everyone should.

I’ve got 2500 power before might, 83 crit chance and 237 crit damage. Even then, while running invocation and devastation with swift termination and elder force, I hit no more than 10k CoRs in a blob fight, usually 5k. If that’s OP then gunflame warrior is God mode.

Also I can take a little trick from thieves/druids whining on the forums, “power rev is a kitten roamer, all they can do in the WvW is Voltron blob, and you want to nerf them???”

Yea, it feels almost like she is going out of her way to highlight specific fights which defend whatever her argument of the week is. Thing is though, individual fights don’t really count for much when you are trying to make a point.

Even mace shield shouts gards are easy to beat in a few secconds, they arent defensve eneught for how easy is to achieve power creep mommentum against bunker guards…

game is ment to carry players by damage, i actally play a full zerker hammer rev with no defenses….leech powercreep hammer, its actually hilarious(in a bad way) when i hit a ton of damage… from safe place, game is all about being a stupid 111 cleave spammer that stacks aoe spam on top of other spammers..

im a very skillfull spammer…

Look at how effective someone is in a full Soldiers set.

That doesn’t excuse a skill for hitting for 15k (and there are others that can do this), I mean then you might as well just bump the damage up for everything else then.

CoR has always been a ridiculous skill because it hits hard on a very low cooldown, cooldowns use to be the balance for how hard a skill hits. That’s why meteor is on a 30s cooldown, not 4s like CoR.

“Just walk to the side and dodge!” Oh yeah easy to pick out the revenent doing CoR in a zerg or blob when a hundred other things are flying around in a furious pace, and hitting your backlines the hardest. Gee wonder why we don’t have backlines any more, better to just ball up for everything.

But in any case pointless to complain and argue about any of this, Anet doesn’t know how to and frankly doesn’t care about balance, the game is ruled by pve.

Everything is OP due to HoT powercreep.

The base stats on all toons are way too high. When A-Net removed stats from traits they removed trade-offs. Now you can focus on a single aspect while retaining mid range other aspects where before you had to stack both traits and gear to focus an aspect, or could go mid on multiple aspects but not top. That is the biggest problem.

Too many boons, too many condis, too many CCs, and too many passives. Biggest ones are passive boons from traits and gear, and condis dished out by non condi focused players, providing too much cover and making cleanses far less effective.

Gear power creep. You chose to go that high on crit rate and ferocity, but really you don’t need to. This is your particular build. Realistically, all you need is about 20-30% crit rate and you will crit about half the time on most classes cause of self fury spam and auto crit effects from traits and gear. Heh, actually more then half the time. On the auto crit builds on some classes you only need power + ferocity. No need for any crit rate at all.

You also don’t need to max ferocity, can go much lower. Just take off about 1k damage off the top, and gain 50% ish survivability on many classes gear/trait combos. What kind of trade off is that ?

Last time I experimented with this I was messing around with valk gear and pretty close to 100% prot uptime while critting like a full zerk build. Then I repeated the same on war, and guard with similar results. O and corrupt / strip boons ? LOL @ that, the number of prot effects and self spam was so high that I had new prot buff up and running before the old icon even disappeared off teh screen. Often without me having to do anything interactive whatsoever.

In the context of large scale fights (I’m not talking havoc / roaming) I would simply like to see the damage pattern reversed (close hit does more damage, far hit does least damage) and possibly the range decreased.

Doing this punishes the ranged bomb zerker revs and rewards the revs that are in the melee group.

First Impact: 908 (2.25)
Second Impact: 706 (1.75)
Final Impact: 504 (1.25)
Range: 900

If a rev wants to get within 300 of me and has a glass cannon build then I’m ok with that risk:reward ratio because they’re going to eat a lot of condis and bombs to get that close.

Seem to have a bad habit of missing that stunbreak, especially on Gaze of Darkness; just spamming facet of light won’t save you from most cases.

But yea, hard counters is what makes small scale fighting pretty lame especially for those poor souls that run non-stealth power builds.

Hammer rev in respects to CoR, much like most of rev, needs a re-design. Numbers changes won’t fix hammer because it’s terrible in the 1v1.

That said, Hammer Bolt does need a nerf of some kind to its damage. This shouldn’t happen against an ascended/maxed medium player with an AA from 1500 away. As you can see the rest of the damage I was taking was totally normal so it’s not like I was missing armor or anything to be deceptive on the screen. I’m a ridiculously durable thief as well with +8k health; That AA would have likely one-shotted an exotic-wearing thief in non-toughness/vit gear.

I’m a ridiculously durable thief as well with +8k health; That AA would have likely one-shotted an exotic-wearing thief in non-toughness/vit gear.

I think hammer bolt is a straight flying projectile and is 1200 range unless that has been changed.

Secondly hammer Bolt itself isn’t inherently strong since it’s damage coefficient is only 0.95. it in itself is fine as a skill. What makes it strong is all the self sufficient damage modifiers revs have access to via traits that will almost triple the next attacks damage under the right circutnaces then also having one of the highest ferocity and crit chance in the game due to aura and GM trait.

Hammer is even more overpowered in a blob fight where you can pull off thief level damage on 5 players from the safety of the backline.

Even though you were being sarcastic about everyone playing condi bunker, the reality is I would actually prefer to fight condi bunkers than get randomly instagibbed by a CoR bomb. At least a condi bunker doesn’t kill you instantly and gives you a chance to mitigate some of the damage if you have cooldowns remaining.

As a condi bunker reaper I will freely admit that Epidemic was/is overpowered.

Can you do the same about hammer?

1v1 hammer rev is terrible.

it shines when you are ganking a fight and the enemy does not know you are there before it is too late, or when you use you team mates as a human shield.

basically just like other classes/builds if you play your role right is is super effective, op? no way.

I picked up reaper cold and still only have a couple hundred hours. I’d play my reaper every night if STRM didn’t need something to answer power gankers. Reaper is quite seriously the easiest thing to play in wvw atm when considering it’s difficulty level of landing skills and the effect it has on a fight as a whole.

I understand that there’re situations where it’s really powerufl, and lands huge amounts of damage. ok. I don’t like that either, because I not-so-secretly hope that fights would last longer ; I’m therefore against anything that lands too much damage.

Yet at the same time, you’re stating here that it’s not so easy to play : so it sounds like high rewards/high risk, and you even quote an example of an easier build with the reaper part. Where’s the logic in it ?

i’d like the range of it to be a bit more predictable. im getting hit by them a mile away and the enemy seems to teleport backwards during the burst making the range more than 1500 (or so it seems to me). mbe its a combination of the other hammer ability alongside it…?

Just on its own its dodgeable but when paired with all these other teleportation things and the RANGE on it…makes it ridiculous at times imo especially given its spammability. Would like it to be less chainable with other abilities. I don’t want shockwaves randomly coming towards me without seeing the revenant’s feet on the ground swinging the hammer and doing the animation in full within the max range its suppposed to have.

Also alot of you are saying stuff like 2600 power without might….and u think thats alot? You think 70 or 80% crit rate is telling me u do alot of damage? you think 250% crit damage and a mere 2700 power w/o might is alot?!!? Thats nothing.

I’ve been playing Rev since its release, I agree that Rev Hammer is difficult for beginners, I particularly do not know how to play with Sword, I think it’s bad, I love Hammer, but I have to practice a lot, get the right tempo of the skill, I agree that he is Very slow, easy to dodge, in X1 is very difficult, but not impossible. Plus the result of their damage and very satisfactory for their difficulty.

This is balanced, difficult to deal with Hammer but satisfactory with its damage.

Based on the video you make more of a point to buff the rev. Hammer Rev have their own weaknesses as your video shows. If do not already have any counters to power range attacks (not not just rev) in your build then yes you will need to have gap closers. I think if you are having issues with Hammer Rev then Longbow Ranger, Riffle War will also give you grief as well as potentially Rifle Engis though that’s a more rare build now. And there are tells, just more regular ones but Revs work about at the same pace so its a matter of understanding that pace. Play all classes and a mix of builds from power to condi to hybrids on all of them in WvW, I wouldn’t class my Revs higher than some of the other builds.

For my power hammer rev, either condi me, gap close me and power/condi it up, stun lock, or power outrange, all of those can have good effect. If you are having issues in the zerg, then that’s zerg positioning. If in a group, are you or someone in your group not specing as a particular counter, were you not focusing or the caller choosing the wrong targets. If its a solo issue ask yourself if you are specing for a class of target and do you need to spec more multi-purpose. Good hunting.

Hammer rev in respects to CoR, much like most of rev, needs a re-design. Numbers changes won’t fix hammer because it’s terrible in the 1v1.

That said, Hammer Bolt does need a nerf of some kind to its damage. This shouldn’t happen against an ascended/maxed medium player with an AA from 1500 away. As you can see the rest of the damage I was taking was totally normal so it’s not like I was missing armor or anything to be deceptive on the screen. I’m a ridiculously durable thief as well with +8k health; That AA would have likely one-shotted an exotic-wearing thief in non-toughness/vit gear.

I guess ranger longbow must be op too because there is a build that can put out 10k AA.

Something is broken when an auto attack is hitting that high. Its either the attack itself (not very likely), the gear/utilities/food used to get such ridiculous stats (very likely), or % modifiers that the class itself has. But no auto should ever be hitting anywhere near that much damage, it doesn’t matter what class or what weapon. When it does, something needs to be toned down, hard.

if they buff other classes means more power creep to the gimmicks to keep the game new player friendly while players choose the gimmicks.

Even mace shield shouts gards are easy to beat in a few secconds, they arent defensve eneught for how easy is to achieve power creep mommentum against bunker guards…

game is ment to carry players by damage, i actally play a full zerker hammer rev with no defenses….leech powercreep hammer, its actually hilarious(in a bad way) when i hit a ton of damage… from safe place, game is all about being a stupid 111 cleave spammer that stacks aoe spam on top of other spammers..

im a very skillfull spammer…

The thing is only one class got real power dmg power creep all though it came with it from the start of that class the rev. It comply ended all other classes viable for aoe dmg in wvw. The real power creep was adding in all the anty power dmg effect. There was a real lack to power dmg to classes that where already in the game. So right now power dmg is a very weak chose in wvw for all classes but rev and even that is an odd chose as in you only need one or two in a full blob. Condi still king and all other classes who cant condi or are a rev for the power dmg side are simply not used to there full use. Ele is a pure support class as well as mez even revs.

Anet needs to get over this zerk meta bigotry from the pve side and make it a real viable build in wvw.

damage ouput creep comes from PVE :P its the pve that is borking up the game…. this is a pve game after all, pvp is just there to pretend this game had pvp things…

I cant wait to see the next Rev power creep must have weapon set/trait….

Still we are discussing “power” creep in a game that was designed to be a damage oupout creep, wich it helps alot who isnt good since they dont need to bother much to see big numbers on the scren, if every one plays power creep every one looks a good player, its just a matter of GG and burst faaster than target.

gw2 isnt a mmo toward normal mmo players….neither pvp players

I can honestly say I have never seen this, nor when I was playing my own power ranger build (pumping out as much damage while camping LB), My AA’kitten maybe ~5-6k tops when I crit. This is one of those “unless you show me the build in action, I can’t believe it”.

Well yes and no. ranger can spec where his arrows can pierce up to 5 people, making it technically a ranged cleave weapon…just not a “cleave” that people refer to.

I’m so sick of getting hit with 15k CoR and 6k Hammer Bolts that revenants spam out. All they do is press 1 and 2 and you cannot get to them because you die before gap closing. With survivability through the roof with unlimited evades, blocks, resistance and invulnerable/heal skill it’s even more rediculous. One trick pony build that has 1200 range decapitate on a 2sec recharge with 6k AA to weave in. It wouldn’t be so bad if the skills for hammer actually had a tell so you could dodge them.

I’m thinking 50% damage reduction on those 2 skills and shorten infuse light to 2 seconds to match the trait version. Probably increase the cd on the evades and blocks aswell.

Here is a vid of me trying to fight them with various classes/builds. 6k hammer bolts on my condi reaper. Cannot land any melee attacks with my power warrior. Evade spam ignoring/triggering my dh tapper. Even got my hybrid hammer rev out and we pretty much kill eachother in 3seconds because power overload.

Game is unplayable. They should at least consider increasing downed state survivability if I’m going to keep getting one shot, and maybe increase the effectiveness of weakness on revenants. It makes sense because they draw their power from the mists and so their muscles are not as strong in the first place. I can find the lore if needed.

Nobody is debating that changes to professions and stuff need to happen, but your post isn’t very constructive at all… You’re just coming across like you can’t handle losing. Next time you should post a list of changes and improvemts instead, so the community can discuss things and the devs can read some rational feedback.

I don’t know about that. I would point to ones like Runescape for noobs,

PvP aspect (both PvP and WvW) isn’t the greatest I will admit, however I have played worse over the years. BDO is one that I found was worse (I used to play up to last year).
