Revenant Changes
These changes address all the things I felt a bit lacking during the weekend. Main problems being the cast times and condi application feeling a bit lacking. So all good :D
There was an issue found in using instant skills after a skill completed, causing the next skill queued to cancel.
I hope this also carries over elsewhere. At least engineer suffers from this with the Inventions spec equipped, one of the first two minor traits breaks the queue.

I will say, however, there’s a lack of a ranged Condition weapon, which makes me kind of sad. Would love a Condition-based Longbow. (Not based on fire and not quite as hybridy as Warrior Longbow)

They haven’t revealed the elite spec’s weapon yet, have they?
Not officially, no. But there is a shield that looks very “glint-y” that has been datamined, that has both a normal and Ascended version (similarly to other Elite Specialization wepaons that have been datamined), as well, there has been datamined shield abilities for the revenant. It’s too early to know for sure, but all signs are pointing at Shield so far for Glint.

I was thinking and realised that by adding a wepon swap you might be able to proc sigils twice if it has not been changed already.
Sword #3 really should have an evade aspect. Fits both mechanically and thematically. Assassin being rather quick and hard to catch (evade fits that) and the skill is a long execute that moves randomly so it is bound to get interrupted without fail so the evade would give the skill a chance to work. Finally, we are talking that everything about this set and legend is offensively defense. So, an active defense such as evade on this skill only makes sense there too.

Looks like it does, but mechanically I seriously doubt it. with auto-target and his jumping being so fast and revolving around a target it won’t be hard to hit him. And anybody with an interrupt will kill it in less than a second.

As far as the changes go, weapon swap is definitely awesome news. I don’t think it will be too powerful because of energy costs and with other legends if one were to not choose Shiro, it shouldn’t provide many problems.
From the damage buffs to addition of conditions and instant legend swap, things should feel a lot better. Hopefully a BTE is soon so we can get to finding anymore bugs and work more on balancing.
One thing I did expect to see was a way to receive energy. This could provide huge problems and cause Revenants to be OP which I assume is something that was found when Thieves were being designed.
As a guardian, warrior, and thief player. I might have a new main soon!
And anybody with an interrupt will kill it in less than a second.
Stability and/or Impossible Odds seems like the answer to this, and something you would consider for a burst scenario anyways, not entirely sure how much quick access to stability Rev has now (but hey it is probably more than a Thief :P) still trying to digest all this information.
Changes look great, especially weapon swap. Gj anet, kudos for listening to feedback and acting so quickly.

So what happens when it’s interrupted then? I mean, if you have five spread out targets and it performs normally, you bounce around between them and return to the first guy. If you get interrupted halfway through then do you stop at the target you’re at, or do you instantly move to the final location without doing additional damage? I ask because the camera doesn’t move during the animation, so if you end up at an unexpected location, presumably the camera would zip to the new location?

I just want to give some feedback, i find the shiro legend skills that dodge back and jump forward again, the one with the clouds, visually not very nice. I don’t really understand it because the sword 3 skill’s smoke actually looks awesome. I would expect simular smoke effects with the utility 1 and 2 on shiro legend.

I agree with you on that. Probably it’s because in the sword 3 you go into the mist and come back, while in the other ones you become mist. Maybe?
Sword 3 needs evade frame badly. Its all sword 1 on ranger over again. Locking yourself into animation is literally asking to get bursted down. You never know when you enter into some “fun” aoe either as you have no control over your toon whatsoever. It has also huge energy cost so..evade frame is a must.
Also what will happen when i use it out of range or during the skill someone blink 1200meters away?
Why no Invuln? There is no difference between evades and invuln.
The difference is invulnerable stops all sources of damage evade just the actual attacks being used against you.
Nice to see some changes anyway I would like to know what about the utility skills? Personally I dislike the lack of options, with this I mean you pick legend x and you get those 5 skills period, IMO there need to be some more utility skills so we can effectively make a more diverse build and to make it so that not all revenents with the same legend have the same utility skills. Some ideas for that which I had were either make a “general” line of utilities, not bound with any legend and that could be exchanged with a legend specific utility or give some more legend specific utilities so there is a choice. (or both?)
Also don’t you consider the ability to have 2 utility sets and 2 weapon sets a bit unbalanced compared to other classes?

Hey Roy, I’d love to see the energy bar as well as the green mist above the skill bar go RED for shiro’s legend, ventari already has it green and that makes it a little bit more distinct when it’s red, red is also one of shiro’s main colors so it would fit pretty well please think about this, it would make me a lot happier too.
Red is my favourite color, but it woult be confusing in pvp. People in blue team won’t be able to guess your currently equipped legend.
However the same applies to Jalis for red team opponents, so I’m probably wrong. Lol.
Hello.
First, revenant was laughable weak before. I tried all semi viable necro builds against it, even stood still often and just tried to find a scenario where revenant would either win, or live long enough to be a worthy bunker/support.
The conclusion was maaaybe with buffs it could be a bad 2nd bunker.But now, GREAT BUFFS, they were needed. Look forward to test again.
Some concerns:
- weapon skill were introduced with lower CD exactly because no swapping. I also trust in faster casts, so please keep them balanced, maybe with energy – We dont want another Engie rifle#4
- Shiro#7 , how spammable the stunbreak evade is?
- Condi overload , i know everything needs a weakness, it just seems that you can often pressure the revenant into his defensive legend/set , and having free damage on him for next 10s
I do have necro salt however, basicaly perma vulnerabilty for higher normal hit siphons than necro with 2x traits (yes i know the math and that you do go higher with wells signets aoes, just saying it was a “uh sigh” moment.)
And Elite Jade 3s stun being a steroid version of previewed necro elite shout (scrap the cast shout on all but elite and lower CDs significantly please, also traited could be 15%+5+5+5… reduction not 7+7+7 for more constant scaling).

Rev still has no flexibility in which U skills he can choose. Also other classes can just use all of their U skills and get full benefit while Rev can’t because he is limited by Energy he has so he can’t fire his all U skills as well as use upkeep skill to full benefit. Weap skills also use Energy to they do limit to an extent how many U skills you can use in turn.
He always has 5 skills for X legend. Period. He cannot pick different skills. That is a huge advantage and has to be covered for in other places.

Evades can still hold a node while invulnerabilities are only slightly more powerful and can cause you to lose a node because they disable contesting until it ends.

Playing with one set will put me at a huge disadvantage. But well..i will just suck it up and use sword/sword sword/shield. Shield for healing as rev lacking here, sword for cc/block. Shiro/Glint yada yada. Everything else is useless
I’ll use sword/sword (unless shield is better) and hammer for blast (oh well…) and range.
Plus 5 new cooldowns since sword won’t use much energy (best skills are AA and maybe 3).

No, it doesn’t. I got Head-shot dazed using it like a million times last time. I’m not sure what you were experiencing but I had it interrupted and put on full cooldown way more times than i’m happy to admit.

Same, I am not sure what was difference between us. Either way it should offer some form of evasion. Hammer 3 I can understand it not doing so, because “technically” your rev is still in one spot, despite animation.

So far datamined stuff was pretty close to the “live” version. Shield 4 had 2k heal on 10cd. Thats basically 3rd healing skill making it a no brainer choice. It also has protection attached to it. Shield 5 had some healing on a longer cd as well

I thought this too for a second, but really it’s way too easy to pull off to offer several seconds of evade. Yes, this means you can’t always use it, but that’s ok, there are plenty of moves that are risky. It’s far different than Sword 1 because 1, it’s not an auto-attack, so if you’re in a situation where you can’t use it, you aren’t stuck without an auto, and 2, it’s a shadowstep, not a lunge, so it shouldn’t cause you to fly off any cliffs.
I am curious as to how well “counter play” will work on this one. For example, if an enemy positions himself on the edge of a cliff, is it possible for you to teleport over the edge? If a targeted enemy leaps over a cliff (perhaps with his own safetynet), would you follow him? My assumption is that the answer to both of these is “no,” in that it’s shadowstep and you can’t shadowstep to a location you can’t safely walk to, but it’ll be interesting to test out. Jumping over a short cliff should at least break an opponent’s attack.

Too easy to pull off for an evade? Mesmer sword 2 is easy to pull off and still has an evade. That doesn’t seem like a good excuse unless sword 3 is unusually long. As it is, it’s starting to look like sword 3 is going to be almost useless in pve. At least if everything stays the same. Which is a huge shame.

I dont think the Revs needs more damage avoidance. It’s already quite tanky even without Jalis and can regen endurance/dodge with Shiro’s heal.
self-applied conditions will be changed to no longer use your condition duration so they feel less punishing
What about our condition damage? Does it still apply to self-inflicted damaging conditions (torment in this case)?
P.S. Can necro corruptions get this fix?
