It’ll be exotic gear that allows you to select the stats you want to use. You will be given multiple sets so you can try out a few different builds. Also, you will also have an assortment of runes, sigils, food, and utility buffs to customize with as well.
Meh, that should still do the trick but already dont enjoy the fact losing pack runes for speed/traveler ones.
Looking forward to give you feedback from pvp side and trust me i will be brutal and critique everything that is wrong with revenant there. I already dont like the fact that i cannot swap useless utilities for something else like pain absord while solo roaming/1v1.

Question for sir Colin will the PvE maps be the expansion maps or the orgional tyrian maps.
I’m not Colin… but… there wont’ be expansion maps in this test, you will be able to venture out in the existing maps anywhere you can currently go with your characters. =)
Pros ~ Never tried beta yet so this news was like yeah ok cool.
Cons ~ However considering no progress is to be saved.
Cons ~ No hot maps can be explored.
Result ~ No amount of time no matter how insgnificant is worth my attention.
~ The staff and other players can waste their time on this I won’t.

We got items from the last beta and were able to deposit collectibles. Whether they actually went there I’m not sure. What he is likely referring to are the items you get for the Revenant such as the equipment boxes, runes, food and such.

I assume the beta character will either be wiped after each event or once all events are over. Either way, as long as he sits in yout character selection, whether you can play him or not, the name is reserved and once he disappears I would hope that the name is subject to same rules as normal character names (ie. reserved for 24 hours after deletion).

It wasn’t greyed out for us. Basically anythibg that you earn while playing Revenant, that could’ve been earned by your other characters, you will be able to transfer to other character taking into account soulbound items. The items that Anet was likely referring to are the items they’re giving players who are participating in the beta. These items include the exotics where you can swap stats, assortment of runes/sigils, and food.
Now I’m not sure what would happen if you tried to transfer an account bound items such as advended to the Revenant and whether you could retrieve them after the beta ended if you forgot to remove them.
I guess those are items for clarification. I also vaguely remember that for the other beta tests, the beta slot wasn’t connected to your account so I could actually be wrong about the components being deposited as collectibles to my account’s bank. I can’t remember if Anet had said that it wasn’t or if it was a player that had said so.

I dont know about the second beta but the first beta, items didn’t deposit in your bank. If you used the deposit button in inventory, they were deleted. (I checked. I got a charged lodestone the first beta and “deposited” it).

How will underwater combat be like, since we have no seen any underwater action with Revenants, let alone the type of underwater weapons they can use?
My guess would Spear + Trident.
Since the Rev doesn’t have weapon swap on land I doubt it will have it in the water, so not spear, only a ranged weapon.
I guess you are right, there is that trend… I was thinking since they have two legends they might want to build two weapons for Rev underwater.
If it is just one though, I vote for ranged spear… just cause it being different would be nice.
Different? Guard actually use spear as ranged wep and let me tell you something..it sux, like really.. Guard has no dps underwater, with exotic spear it takes me 3x longer to kill something than a warrior with blue spear. We saw torment on auto so i dont have too much hopes for a decent wep in terms of damage.

There are a couple of problems possible if there isn’t a barrier between the Beta char and the main account.
1) people putting gem store items (such as harvesting tools) or 20 slot bags on the Beta char, leaving them on there and the Beta char getting deleted at the end of the weekend, along with those items.
2) the last 2 stress tests the Beta chars were using new weapon and armor skins. By keeping the Beta separate, it kept the skins from transferring to the wardrobe.
3) possible problems with people salvaging the Beta char’s exotics or putting them in the bank and leaving them there until after the beta.
4) maybe, people equipping the Beta char with non beta gear with stats that ANet isn’t testing right now, or at any rate spending gold on a char that gets deleted.
5) people transferring ascended gear to the beta char, which then will have different damage than the stats allowed by the beta gear.

It’s normal for all betas. I’ve not played many betas ever where you get to keep what you get in beta. Because if there is a glitch that makes you more powerful than everyone else, then you have an unfair advantage.
You’re not obligated to participate in this beta. You make a choice. Play the revenant up front, KNOWING you’re not going to progress your main account or don’t. Because you won’t be saving your progress from any other beta either. So why should this be different.

Okay, I barely play my guardian, his only job is crafting because I am too lazy to get waypoints for him. Guess I need to check Guardian out underwater then. I Just hope we don’t get a healing stick with Trident, like the staff is sort of…
Why people complains that that yu wont keep loot etc? Its “beta”, youre not forced to play it if all you care is gold. But but tthere is posibility to drop precurson? Just dont press f and youll never figure out if you dropped one.

I will gladly play it and give a feedback as i like the concept but i cannot take it in current lackluster desing, loot is not something i care about when i can “help” to improve the class.

Am I correctly assuming that the beta character slot creates some sort of copy of my account state? Meaning that my Revenant will have access to all my account funds and so on, but anything I add or remove won’t make it to my “live” account?
To give a more practical example: I use 6 transmutation stones to adjust my gear, then I go play dungeons and earn a handful of gold and tokens. Once I log back to my “live” characters, none of these changes will be visible?

Can’t answer all of your questions, but it seems to be that anything you do with a character in the slot marked as beta (for the next event it will only make sense to create Revenant there anyways, but for the others maybe not) will have restrictions placed on it, can’t say if existing currencies will exists as entirely separate pools for that slot since they are all account bound.
Are we going to be able to access our bank with the revenant ? Are we going to be able to send in-game mails with the revenant? If we can send mails: if we send something with the mail to another player is that same item going to disappear after the beta test is over?

I doubt they have the ability to make an item disappear if it has changed “owners”, especially if it is an item that exists in the live game normally, it is unfortunate mailing to yourself is disabled on all characters… assuming of course that in-game mails would be a way to transfer items off of that character in the first place.
That’s my “worry”: that people can break the system by doing stuff like that. One could even sell an exotic for 10 copper on the BLTC for someone else to buy it and send him to another character.
They have to lock a ton of systems like, guild bank, player bank, mails, the BLTC , etc so that people don’t do anything. Which may be kind of a pain for the devs. Might as well just let the revenant play out as a normal character: since we’re not going to new areas anyways.
If they really plan on keeping the loot locked, than I hope they think about all of these things.
EDIT: The easiest thing to do is probably making everything soulbound (even materials that you get from drops), and deactivating the ability to loot from the mail system, so that people don’t complain later about sending stuff to the beta char slot and disappearing and blablabla. But the bank/guild bank/BLTC is still a problem.

That’s the problem I raised on my previous posts. People can go around it and store it in the bank/guild bank and sell it on the BLTC. Would be nice to get information on this.

If that’s how it works then it’s fine, but there’s no official information on not being able to access banks or vendors while using the beta character slot.
It is kind of a silly move, isn’kitten I’d think they’d want to encourage the use of the revenant in as many aspects of the games as possible to get good data. Instead they’ll have many people try out a couple of skills in a world map and ditch it to get rewards with their old characters.
Seriously, whats wrong with getting drops and currencies? Just flag the equipment that we get as ‘karma’ gear, so we cant salvage or sell it. What else do they need to cover anyway?

According to the CJ’s post: yes you won’t be keeping any kind of rewards.
The only exception is playing stronghold with our original characters.
If that is the case they should turn off drops for Revenant completely because i dont wanne get something dropped worth allot gold and then see it vanish in thin air seriously.
Also whats the point doing dungeons if you dont even get the tokens for the paths ^^.

But hey, I’m sure that all the newcomers auto-attacking a bunch of mobs in the starter areas will give them just as valuable test-data to properly balance the class

People, its standard operating procedure, from every game I’ve ever heard of, to not save anything from the beta. If you can find one that’s ever been different, please point it out (though I’ll then point ALL the betas that didn’t. Weight of evidence will certainly be on my side in this).
It is a bit odd that you can play a beta in essence adjacent to standard in-game characters, but its still a beta, so no one should be surprised or morally outraged by this decision: as before, its NORMAL for a beta test.

Sounds reasonable at first, but what about new players that pre-purchase HoT with fresh lv10 character, should they also able to gain lv80 relevant loot (for example arah token) with a fully geared lv80 Revenant beta character? There are actually some rewards that is out of reach for newbie players, but they can bypass the inaccessible restriction by playing a lv80 fully geared Revenant somehow.
