So im hoping they will buff all the other weapon’s AAs and skills by 10%-20%? Cause right now people just go sword AA cause it’s the only viable way to dps consistently, energy pool and costs is terrible to even try using skills for dps.

Come back next Friday, they’ll go over more things (Not everything). Remember that they did say that they were improving Revenants defensive capabilities which is definitely hinting towards Jalis and Ventari buffs. And hammer was broken in WvW and PvE, the nerf was needed.

Sword autoattack damage going down 10%ish. First auto attack gone down by 10%, 2nd autoattack gone down by 20%, third autoattack down by 10%.
Precision Strike – now always launch 3 projectiles regardless of how many targets. Reduced the chill duration from 2s to 1.5s per projectile,
Unrelenting Assault. Reduced the number of strikes from 7 to 5. Increased the damage of each strike by 5%
Facet of Light – Initial activation will now have a cast time. You can no longer use it while being stunned/launched etc
Coalescence of Ruin – It had too low cooldown. Cooldown gone from 2s to 4s. It will longer double hit.

I particularly like the facet of light cast time! Haha and they have said they want to buff revenant’s defense.

These changes are actually pretty good. I like the Precision Strike change and I love Facet of Light change – similar thing to one I requested which was that after Facet activation Infuse Light would have very short cooldown to prevent double tapping.

we’ll be looking to tone down the revenant’s sword damage in some areas and adjust the weapon’s abilities so that it’s less focused on autoattacking and better at singling out and attacking enemies.

And you nerf AA + Unrelenting Assault and maybe little boost Precision Strike.

As I said in the other thread, ANet isn’t that kind of developer.

Some Developers will see things are weaker, then buff those up to give competitive alternatives.

ANet Developers will see things are weaker, and then nerf anything stronger so the weaker options seem more competitive.

I saw this being an Elementalist Main for a super long time with the game over the last few years. Water/Arcane were taken by nearly every Elementalist due to class design and instead of making the other options more competitive or redesigning the class so you don’t feel forced into those options all they do is nerf, renerf, and nerf those lines some more. It never works and all it does is people are forced to double down even harder into those gutted lines cause the other options just aren’t good.

It’s the same thing with Revenant (or any class for that matter). Rather than address the real problems, they’ll pick apart the good bits till they’re a shadow of what they once were but still everyone is gonna go Glint and Hammer/Sword because the other options just don’t work in the game they designed.

The problem is that the Revenant causes damage in PVE only with AA, other skill on sword has zero DPS and Unrelenting Assault fail 70% of cases + other weapon set has low DPS like noodle.

Warrior has in raid 40k DPS other class maybe 25k !!!! Where is warrior DPS nerf ?

I gotta agree with these guys, most of the time there might be 2-3 more nuggets in all the patch notes but for the most part, the changes they do are the big game changer ones or ones that they think will end up hyping the crowd. I main necro so I’m pretty happy but just starting rev, honestly a little disappointed.

Sword damage got buffed or nerfed depending on how much energy you can spend. If you’re using the sword skills on recharge against 1 target, it should be a damage increase with the upcoming changes:

1x Unrelenting Assault + 3x Precision Stike + 6x Autoattack chains
0.715*7 + 1.0*1 * 3 + (0.85+1.0+1.3) * 6 = 26.9; 3*2 = 6s chill
0.715*5 + 1.0*3 * 3 + (0.75+0.8+1.2) * 6 = 29.1; 3 * 3 * 1.5 = 13.5s chill
=> 8% damage increase, 125% chill uptime increase (perma-chill basically), and 30% less evade uptime.

Wut, since when did the Precision Strike projectiles gain tracking/homing? Unless you stand still inside the target’s body (lol not ever happening in pvp) it’s a waste of dps and energy using it. Never saw the skill launching all the strikes in a single direction.

The thing that kitten me up the most is all these Revenant changes are PVE RELATED.

The most OP stuff: Viper Mallyx/ Shiro Mace + Axe are absolutely untouched.
The truly op stuffs: Banish Enchantment and Riposting Shadow, and stability on dodge, doesn’t get nerfed, while every PVE options of Revenant in PVE is destroyed.

Hammer nerf, Sword AA nerf are all pve stuff. Why the heck Anet want to destroy PVE, where balance is not needed, while leaving the PVP God Spec alone?

Every time a new balance change comes out, people always get blinded by the nerfs listed and become unable to see anything else.

Sword was not nerfed. Skill #1 and skill #3 became slightly weaker, while skill #2 became significantly stronger. Significantly stronger. In fact, I won’t be surprised if the newsword #2 gets to be nerfed in the future, because x3 more damage and massive amount of chill at a low energy/ cooldown cost is not to be taken lightly (plus, 3x a whirling finisher, if I’m not wrong?).

Also, sword’s playstyle just became less generic and more unique. It’s now less about spamming AA and more about spiking down isolated targets.

It was a well thought out change, but some people are unable to see it behind their nerf glasses.

Noone care, it remain a trash skill due to it projectile nature with speed of a turtle. On top of that cus of damage nerfs on auto we are even weaker vs “pet” classes and in teamfights half of the damage will go towards random trash. Wanna bet it will be nerfed soontm?

Yay for the nerfs, my surge feels so kitten strong now. With the changes done to UA it should become single target ability. But yeah, lets turn this skill into a joke, why not.

With a hope that it will become a 1v1 weapon i got back something that becomes a pure joke the moment +1/pet show up. Seems legit. Bravo guys, bravo

Jalis? Ventari? Mallyx+Corruption changes? Shiro healing reworked? Sword offhand? Staff tweaking? Hammer buff to drop the hammer? All the kitten useless traits?

Having an unique playstyle with clear play and counterplay opportunities is not a bad thing. It’s healthy to the game. It allows for high risk/ high reward plays, which is exciting both for players and viewers. In contrast, low counterplay abilities with mediocre damage is bland and boring.

Precision strike might might have a lot of “drawbacks”, but when you maximize it, it’s going to be explosive. And that’s what’s fun about it. It rewards good plays and good players.

Overall changes to sword are terrible, basically just damage nerf with no compensation and it doesnt seems to have anything with “singling out enemies”.

If you “single out enemies”, the new precision strike will hit 3 times and apply chill 3 times to your target. Do not understimate a 3x buff – that’s a massive number, and it’s going to burst down a lot of players in pvp for sure.

In my opinion, it was the only way to balance it. Its instant cast effect was making it too strong.

Also, it’s not as easy to counter as you may think it is. You can intentionally enter a large-damaging field the moment you cast it, like a guardian’s trap or a fire field, for example. Opposing players can’t cancel their area-of-effect skills when they are already put down in the ground.

This wouldn’t bother me so much if they had posted at least SOMETHING Jalis/Ventari/Mallyx related. Yea, Sword might be able to spike in 1v1 better (assuming the slow projectiles even land), but you wont be able to pick anyone off in a crowd, #5 is still trash and Sword got worse against any build/class that has minions. Good luck surviving big bursts, by the way. CC-chained into oblivion and then bursted? No Glint heal to save you. Soothing Bastion/Enhanced Bulwark+Retribution or gg.

Oh, and this is definitely a nice nerf in PvE against bosses that have mobs around them.
Now, your Precision Strike still needs to be aimed, but your autos are considerably worse.

More CoR nerfs. It could hardly matter anyway, really, since most of the time you’re better off just auto attacking due to how unreliable the skill is.

‘Buffing Revenant’s defensive capibilities’ is not relevant in PvE, I don’t think. At least Rev will be getting buffed for other game modes’ builds.

Yea, however, I thought the point of our lack of choice and energy cost was to allow strong skills. We now have very little response to big bursts and if you get CC-chained, it’s over.

Gonna feel like old Necro with a bigger lack of emergency buttons and easily becoming a pinball.

Like superior boon corruption for necro? Diamond skin wiping 1 condi/sec (rev has no coverage with trash condi). As condi rev you cant really fight these classes anymore, you be destroyed and teabagged. Our only option vs condi that is resistance is gone basically.

Power damage? Thief will superior and the one that can actually focus and single out targets in teamfights, unlike rev that gets weaker the moment someone show up so i dont see a reason to take rev over thief now. Also worth of a note that thief already counter rev.

I would have said season 7 personnaly. Starting with the fact that the last 2 beta week end have changed nothing to Jailis or Ventari state and core revenant in general i don’t see why they would do something for it since the next expansion. It’s quite fun to play a class that is broken, full of glitches and uncomplete you must try it!
But hey marketting rules after all, revenant was just a juicy cake for selling heart of thorns don’t forget that.

Spiking down isolated targets is how I mostly play it now to begin with (sword/sword and staff with Glint and Shiro) I don’t care for the facet of light change though because when you’re stunned is just about the best time to use it ensuring some counterplay while a charge time means you won’t eat most of the unload or rapid fire shots to heal you up. The Shiro heal is a joke so after the nerf power rev will have no real healing outside of shield.

So sword AA nerfed by roughly 12%, sword 3 by 21% and sword 2, which barely hits anything or anyone gets damage buff… I dont mind sword 2 getting a buff, but it needed to be done with restructuring the skill to be useful. This is just silly. AOE damage nerf and the single damage can be easily dodged by grandma.

While I am not a PvP player I can see how and CoR was too powerful in that realm. However the change makes it, and overall hammer, nearly useless in every realm.
Facet of light nerf is also silly. I will admit it can be sometimes OP. The skill needed some sort of restructure. Not just nerf.

Then none of the completely now working stuff, two utility lines Jails and Ventari are even touched…

If Anet goal was to nerf every possible build except Myllx, good job. And it is the only thing that is over performing to begin with. I guess time for rev to be taken out of the “wild” and archived.

Not really sure if a build that gets soft countered by just not allowing it to have 1 on 1 fights can ever be competitive, specially when the arguably best overall 1 on 1 skirmisher is a pet class that you don’t single out by default (no nerfs announced so far, although it might be hit hard by amulet changes).

Add to this the insane corruption capabilities necromancers seem to be getting plus a mercenary amulet which fits them like a glove, and we might easily be saying goodbye to power revenants for a while.

AFAIK Mallyx/Shiro builds usually run Vipers and are more focused on condition damage than on direct one, with Sword/Shield being the “defensive” weapon set.
Those are going to be hit far less than power builds, which use the sword as their main damage tool (which is kinda ridiculous btw, since Viper rev is much more present it the meta than power one).

AFAIK Mallyx/Shiro builds usually run Vipers and are more focused on condition damage than on direct one, with Sword/Shield being the “defensive” weapon set.

Still too strong, needs more nerf. A 3.0 power coefficient skill on a 4s cooldown? Are they high? With only .5s channeling? That is OP as hell. And its a projectile, so you can’t just walk out of it? And it permachills? kittenmit a.net what is this insanity? Sword is gonna be gamebreakingly OP, it is basically 100b without the 3s cast time, so what if you need to use it up close? Then use it up close, it should be easy to stay on them with the kitten permachill. This skill is gonna need a cooldown increase or a chill and damage nerf if it’s gonna fire all 3 projectiles with just one target.

I can deal anywhere from 1000 to 3000 with Precision Strike right now with max damage traits and a berserker amulet in PvP.
With the new change, it’ll max out at ~9000, assuming you’re in a 1v1, the opponent has no projectile hate, they all crit with max damage, you’re full glass, and the opponent doesn’t just run away from it (which is possible since it’s so slow).
It’s basically a much worse, mid-range CoR.

Reaper will be a problem for us and thief might replace some of our roles but revenant still has a place due to great mobility, point control, and crowd control. Then there is Ventari healing and cleanses. The sage amulet, which has condition damage and healing power sounds ideal for Mallyx/Ventari builds, which can be a potential reaper counter. people just go sword AA cause it’s the only viable way to dps consistently, energy pool and costs is terrible to even try using skills for dps.

I’ve been saying this since the beta weekends but I guess it takes someone else saying it for anyone to agree that such an obvious flaw exists.

Sage is useless on ventari, really. ventari requires a ton of healing power and even now has a hard time handling reapers. Also don’t forget neither ventari or mallyx have stunbreaks. BTW if you don’t believe me try to pull cele mallyx/ventari now it’s really close.

Scaling is bad on all revenant skills except shield. Ventari self heal scales okish but not well enough for 21k health ventari outgoing heal scales really well.
Natural Harmony doesn’t scale well enough.

I’ll give you a preview if you go ret/corrupt/salvation you will lack self heal and will get worn down fast. If you go herald/salvation/corrupt you’ll get stunlocked.

You pretty much have to drop Salvation to try Mallyx/Ventari at all and go Herald/Corruption/Retribution.
You simply cannot handle the CC and even with that, you’ll be EXTREMELY weak to Signet Necros, especially after the next patch.
Salvation just doesn’t bring enough to the table for the Revenant; it’s way too focused on healing allies and the stance itself is also awful at keeping the Revenant alive. Aside from the Projectile destruction, the other skills are terrible and way too costly to use in an actual fight, let alone aiming them.
