I wish all classes had a unique dodge… Would help with visual ques in PVP (especially with Asura in the mix) and overall would just be more fun, so long as none of them were too flashy and overbearing.

I think it would look more like Riposting Shadows, or a dodging animation with the effects of skills like phase smash and surge of the mists.

Oh didnt realize he meant just normal dodge, my bad. but how would having more utilities make us more predictable? It would make us less predictable since they wouldnt know our exact skills, before we even use them(like they are now)

+1 OP, thanks for sharing. And kudos to Roy for answering! I hadn’t thought of this but it’s a great idea. I always wondered why only Thieves get special dodge rolls, though adding effects to other professions may feel forced. I think it can fit great on the Rev.

Stealth on a dodge? Thats even better than some misty effect. Imagine dat confusion from enemies.

Since we’re all getting some fluff then on ele how about the ele turn into whatever element they are in. If I’m in Fire attunement then when I dodge I become engulfed in flames. If I’m in water I’m made of water etc..
Mesmer could have a blurry vision look
Rangers could be wrapped in leaves
Guardians glow white

How does turning into rock help you dodge? The rest of them work, but not that one. Maybe turn to sand/dust?

Guardians could be shielded by a blue/white energy bubble, kind of like a Super Smash Bros block.
Warriors and Rangers shouldn’t have anything fancy, since they’re about physical prowess, rather than magic or trickery.

Warriors and guardians already have visual ques on “on dodge” trait effects, adding stuff to the dodge itself, imo, would be too much unnecessary clutter.
Also I dont think ALL classes should have a unique animation really, it makes sense for thieves and revenants, but how would a ranger or engineer for example have anything special to dodge. Magic classes are easier to come up with but classes with such reliance on physical stuff doesn’t make much sense to have fluff on dodge.
For every class that currently has the dodge fluff, it makes sense.
I could see ele getting a momentary mist form anim, but that might be too close to revs, and would require a smoother transition to and from mist to be animated (which is not necessarily a bad idea in itself)
Warrior, ranger and eng i don’t think any case could be made for. it just doesn’t fit.
Guard & necro… Both have obvious thematic graphics that could be used, but are they really appropriate to the class’s actual capabilities? If necro can dissolve in a blur of death magic and rematerialize, why can’t they blink? If guardian could transform into holy fire, why can they not use that as an offensive/utility capability?
Edit: with revs addition, i like that every armour tier now has one class with the special dodge. it doesn’t need to go beyond that, it’ll just take away some of the snowflakeness from the thing.

Which light class has a special dodge? Only thief and now rev got it.

it’s not as obvious.
Guardian and Warrior have dodge effects via traits (light for Guardian’s heal and a small explosion for Warrior, that also gets a big red aura in Berserk mode).
Necro has Shroud aura while in shroud, plus on dodge marks via traits, and Ele has a lot of effects on dodge also via trait.
Engi, Mesmer and Ranger have no real graphical effects to apply to a dodge. I mean, you could add butterflies to Mesmer, but why? They don’t help you dodge.
Thief already has it to make the dodge look faster/agile, and it fits.
