Anet, please remove daze from Sleight of Hand

You know, instead of calling a nerf for the daze effect, you could by all means complain about “auto-defense” trigger skills that make some classes kittenedly OP?

No, I don’t complain about the auto-defenses of other classes. At this point, it is clear that Anet wants some classes to fight effectively without the need to look on the screen and others to be mobile lootbacks. I just ask for the privilege to be one-shotted by other players, instead of my own class mechanic.

I like the reduced cooldown of SoH, however, with stuff like Mirror of Anguish and Tempest Defense, steal turns into an “I die even faster”-button.

Secondly, I believe the above statement is what you were trying to say, but got lost due to the thread title.
I must confess I haven’t memorized all of the icons yet, but does a Mesmer with Mirror of Anguish even have an icon associated with the trait listed under its “nameplate?”
If not, it seems rather odd why Thieves have to have icons for their active venoms displayed to enemies, but Mirror of Anguish can be completely secret. At least we can see when Aegis or Stability is active, and those aren’t nearly as dangerous as Mirror of Anguish.

The problems with BV is its charge time is too long meaning a sizable window for an interruption and an animation that communicates to other players that you have it activated. It’s also too short duration I’d add at least 1.5 seconds to the effects, half the charge time, and remove the weird animation and yell at the end (i.e., give it a normal apply venom animation)
The only time to viably charge it is in stealth.
Speaking of stealth its strength should scale with healing power (the current stealth strength would be baseline) so it’d double as a shield against reveal. There aren’t abilities other than the standard to counter life-steal or conditions to neutralize the healing part so why not an anti-lifesteal field or anti-magic field too?
I take this as a sign that Thief needs design help. When Sleight of hand is a bad trait because DAZE KILLS YOU BACK, something needs to be said. And if that one trait requires you to take an entire other line to compliment it…. Ye.
Do I think that auto defense traits are a little out of control? To a certain extent yes, however that might be bias since thief does not have a lot of these traits open to us.
However, when it comes to the daze activated ones, I really haven’t had an issue recently since I changed how I approach and fight them. Typically if I notice the ele is running air, I use headshot prior to engaging to activate the trait then as soon as aura is down I steal in knowing I have an opening. Not saying I win every fight against d/d eles, but it is important to recognize the traits the opponent is running and adapt to it instead of asking for possibly our best trait to be nerfed.

Alternately, how about Steal being unblockable?
It makes a ton of sense, and would alleviate this problem, which I admit, is major and frustrating.
Edit: Actually, now that I think of it… would that even do anything? I’m not entirely sure how most of these defense traits work, since Thief doesn’t get nice things and it’s been my main from the start.
Unblockable would not solve the problem, since the trait doesn’t activate on block, but on condition application to the target.
This just makes me want the Thief to truly become the “assassin” class. Being able to punch straight through passive defenses. Aegis, Stability, Protection, mirrors, endures, etc.

That’s what the Revenant does, because they’re a Better Thief.
Those skills are just counters to all dazes and the like. You could use x/P-4, bv, or you could be a completely different classes with a daze and it will counter all the same to those skills you listed. It’s balance, mate. You want to remove daze from steal? Don’t take the trait. Simple as that. Asking to remove it completely is just absurd, especially from someone who admittedly doesn’t even play thief regularly.
