D/d power build. noob need help!
dagger/dagger is also a backstab build. Use C&D to go into stealth, get behind and then use backstab.
Oh. That sounds cool:) Then i think I will go for d/d power. Anyone have some tips? (Traits, utilitys)
with d/d for leveling through power, it is much less efficient than d/d conditions. that said, critical strikes, shadow arts, and acrobatics can make you able to kill one enemy after the other quite quickly while being very hard to hit while leveling. good utilities are shadow refuge, caltrops, signet of agility, and blinding powder, and signet of shadows for traveling. honestly most of our utilities can be very useful in PvE. I also recommend a short bow for your second weapon, to help with groups and enemies you just can’t let near you. have you tried out sword/pistol yet? if you haven’t is a very efficient power based melee build for leveling.
Gungnir Aurus – 80 Guardian
[AUX] Isle of Janthir
this is what i am currently using, as the backstab gimmik that i just cant get over, lol.
for traits:
25/30/0/0/15
in deadly arts, i have “mug” and “dagger training” for the 5% more damage with daggers, and damage while stealing (this can hit upwards of 5kish) and 25 into the line for the extra 10% damage when they have a condition.
in critical strikes i have “practiced tolerance” for that extra hp, “critical haste” for some quickness every 30 seconds and “executioner” for 20% more damage when they are below half hp.
and in trickery, i have “thrill of the crime” for fury, might and swiftness when i steal, along with 5 more points in the line for the extra 3 initiative(extra heartseeker right there).
for my armor, i use full valkryie gear (i give up a small amount of precision for an extra 2kish hp, which really helps stay alive) with ruby orbs, becuase i find them cheeper, and more useful then most runes.
for my jewlery i have full berserker’s with ruby jewels for the power/precision/crit.
my weapons are 2 berserker daggers, and a berserker shortbow in the offhand. i have a sigil of force (5% more damage) on one dagger, and a sigil of air on the other (1.5k lightning hit every 5 seconds anyone?) and on the shortbow i have a sigil of fire, for the aoe flameburst (this is ridiculous shooting at a group of people lol)
as for utilities, i use
-hiding in the shadows (stealth and healing anyone?)
-signit of shadows (almost perm swiftness there from that 25% speedboost)
-shadowstep(great for getting away or getting behind someone)
-shadow refuge(the healing and stealth this gives is amazing, and really does help you get the hell away if you need to, or to just reset the fight)
for the elite, i switch between dagger storm (when im zerging it up because it demolishes people) and basilist venom for most solo play, because the 1.5 second stone is pretty much long enough to burst someone fromm full to 0 if they are a bad/upscaled player, or atleast take half the hp of most decent players, hehe.
from all this i get
Attack:3,262
critical chance: 44% (104% critical damage)
Armor: 2,000
Health: 13,925
a 10 second stealth that heals me for a few thousand
a 1,200 range teleport escape tool
permanent 25% movement increase
the ability to insta-gib almost anyone
not to mention 30% more damage to targets above 50% hp with a condition, and 50% more damage to targets below 50% hp with a condition.
for food buffs, i also use skale venom (purchaced for 16c i think, which stacks with the normal buffs, and gives weakness/vulnerability on crits (which is like eveyr hit anyway), along with hardened sharpening stones, for more power (i get the level 60 one becuase its cheeper, and still gives clsoe to 100 more attack) and then bowels of butternut squash soup, which gives 8 more critical damage and 4% more critical hit chance)
—my rotation—
i use this for anyone besides a guardian (for a guardian you need to wack down the aeigis first (shortbows great for this)
-basilisk venom
-f1x2 to steal and hit them with what you stole, 1-5k damage easy.
they will now be stuck in stone
-CnD for the stealth and a 4-8k hit
-try to manuver to their back asap and get a backstab for 6-12k damage, or hit their face for 3-5k damage
by now they should be unstoned and freaking out popping all their utilities and probably running if they are still alive (they will be still alive half the time, depending on the build and the player.
-go with a normal rotation for 800/800/3k/3k hit while keeping up with them if they are still alive
now if they arnt already dead, or you missed parts, or they healed, you can do a few things.
if they are running away, try to dancing dagger them (remember to watch your initiative, although you should still have almost all of it) for the cripple, then catch up and normal rotation/CnD backstab/heartseeker on preferance
if they are standing still or trying to fight, CnD backstab/heartseekers will usually finish
then all thats left is the spike, easy enough.
now, if you are in the middle of a group, pick out the weaker targets first, and remember that shadow refuge can alow for an easy spike, then escape, however dont be greedy with the spikes, it could easily get you killed.
and if anything goes wrong, feel free to run away with easy, utilising the shadow step, the shortbow’s 5 and your stealth (remember, hit anything you feel like with a CnD for free stealth, the white stuff is great for this)
congratulations, you have now made someone cry.
EDIT: added in my rotations and elite utilities
(edited by Natsu Dragneel.1625)
oh, and heatseeker will easily hit 10k on people with less then 25% health, its like, instakill
^my build is currently used in WvWvW at level 80, as for leveling, i just crafted becuase i couldnt be bothered repeating teh same stuff for a 5th time so i couldnt tell you
I run this with major success: 25/30/15/0/0
Unbuffed Stats:
14k health (15k if vitality trait)
3200 atk
50% crit
90 crit dmg
2400 armor
You need to get a mix of zerk, beryl and knight armors/jewels/orbs to obtain this result.
It has no real weakness, very versatile and fun as hell.
Wow. Ty for the reply all!
Idont know how to tag your posts so,
@Gungnir Grimm: I have tried Sword/pistol, but it didn’t feel like iwas playing a thief. Maybe il give it a try later.
@Natsu Dragneel: I’m gonna try that out, and thank you for going so in-depth inn your build. It looks like a build I will enjoy!
