Deadeye is so boring to play.

since there are so many blocks and reflects and on top of that, gap closers literally everywhere, even costs of 0 wouldn’t help, since deadeye doesn’t have the possibility for unblocking attacks.

This a learn to play issue. I play p/p as well and manage to get around all of those blocks and reflcts without spending 0 ini on an attack.
Blocks by the way work just as well against DrD . The DRD spec does not make any attacks unblockable and there little in any weaponset that is unblockable.
As to the ability to close range , this is the same with ALL classes using ranged attacks. It not specific to Rifle users. If those other can deal with it so can a DE who starts with greater range and has stealth access.

That’s the problem, the class is so all-or-nothing, it feels completely unrewarding. Either I completely tear you down with that utility cantrip that knocks down, spamming kneeled 2, or you have defenses up blocking/reflecting.
When you play thief D/P, its much more dynamic, you go in, do some damage, you get out, then you go back in. You can be very dynamic with the deadeye, i’ve vsed some players who are, teleporting about, but they are just not efficient, and they usually end up getting killed.

You have to unlearn DrD and relearn how to play without those extra dodges. If you get down to the basics when it comes to the ability to survive longer it pretty well all about the extra dodges and to a lesser extent Bandits defense.
It is a rethink as to how you fight. If they just made it like DrD with the same amount of dodges and evades , it hardly becomes a new spec.
That said keep in mind that DE is NOT rifle anymore then DrD is staff. You can use D/P specced to DE. You can still use Rifle at extreme range and when an enemy does close change to your preferred melee set.

Which doesn’t help the fact, that omnipresent blocks/reflects/deflects literally counter your whole weaponset and you have no possibility to play against this.

I said there are little in the way of unblockable attacks in our weaponsets.
A person using shadowshot against an enemy with blocks up is harldy using INI efficiently. Why would you want to port to someone who runs a 3 second block for minimal damage? When I am on d/p I tend to wait until the block down, just as I would with p/p , or rifle. It not difficult.

ALL classes have ranged users. if they were all countered to the degree you claim no one would play them.
I have been playing with rifle all weekend and suggesting “there no possibility” to play against this is ignorance. No one has permanent reflect and a lot of professions have little to no access to reflects.
A ranged user having to deal with reflects, is no different really then a melee user having to deal with DH traps or AOE.

Sure, switch to melee. Ranged always had a hard time. You don’t need to have full time blocks/reflects, just enough to catch them. Atm the blocks offer that more than enough.

it’s bugged but right now ele has a permanent block if they take stoneskin…sure that will be fixed..
I’m more curious as to what the op’s poison build was, I tried one for a bit but found the rifle much more tuned to direct damage.

I think you would be better off in a hybrid build if wanting to do poison damage. This way you not giving up all that direct damage.
You would have to trait PANIC strike and potent poison and then use the Immob out of Rifle to stack that poison. Deaths retreat becomes a minor source of the same. It then becomes about getting might stacks on while applying Vuln to an enemy which boost both direct and condition damage.
(The utility binding shadow would be a must as if traited panic strike and potent you would get 15 vuln stacks and 4 poison)
I have been working on a p/d rifle hybrid in carrion and it performs quite well , better then did the DrD version.
Rifle aside, I find the entire spec pretty boring and linear.
It’s too much of a kill or be killed traitline. Binary and boring.
Obviously if you’re playing rifle you will find it “boring” because it needs a lot of fixes/changes yet.
I’m having a blast playing with s/d, it’s like the old sd but better.
i find it fun, opinions are opinions. if you don’t like DE then why not just stick with DrD?

I am sure some nerfs will help deadeye be a viable option to daredevil, and a reason to buy pof.

Lol, nerfs to what?
DrD is still very competitive with the rest of the game, if not still on the stronger side.
This is just how snipers need to be. If you’re not positioned right and everything doesn’t go perfectly, you’re dead. Else it ends up overpowered because then it’s safe and lacks counterplay.
Many people demanded this concept, and a number of players foretold of the consequences that come with this except kind of concept.

I agree. DrD is atm very strong. But how do you sell a new product, if the existing is better nearly everywhere?
The issue isn’t that I have difficulty playing the deadeye, its just that, its really boring to play the deadeye.
For anyone complaining, do you even know what a sniper is?
It’s almost as if people have their own experiences and opinions that don’t line up with yours… but I’m sure the problem is more “not knowing what a sniper is”.
For anyone complaining, do you even know what a sniper is?
For anyone who thinks they know what snipers do, do you think they fire off shots rapidly in succession?
I’ll be sticking to DD that’s for sure, it’s better in every regard for PVP and open world it’s still the fastest and efficient option. Hopefully they make some deadeye changes, I can see sort of where they are going but it’s clunky, and I agree that when in position you should be able to move out with WASD.
DD is my favorite open world spec, I hardly see that changing because there’s no chance they will make a spec more mobile with reliable cleanses for thief.
There’s still lots of theory crafting to be had, maybe for raids/pve it will be the best.
For anyone complaining, do you even know what a sniper is?

it depends on the rifle being used. There are some that shoot a burst of shots like 3 shots in a row on a single trigger pull, and there are some that shoot once when you pull the trigger. The first one is a little weaker when it comes to accuracy and power, while the other tends to have more power, precision, and penetration capability.
I think the rifle skills capture the concept of sniper perfectly.

DE is heavily rifle. Not completely, it functions without it, but DD wasn’t staff in the same way as this is rifle. The new steal is tied to the idea of range, there is a skill on the weapon that utilizes the new passive that otherwise is just +15% damage.
For anyone complaining, do you even know what a sniper is?

Havent you seen the movies?
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
I came back just recently and really enjoyed the Deadeye, which I played exclusively the entire weekend. Yes, there are some issues and it does feel a bit clunky at times, but I still enjoyed it more than I enjoyed thief, ranger, or warrior (2800 games worth), which I mostly played at release and until I quit.
(edited by Ashanor.5319)
I found deadeye the most fun to play actually. And i main a mesmer. It was fun have to think about when to take aim or move out of the way. Made me feel like a real sniper XD

You do know that thief has a number of tricks up his sleeves that renders those points moot?
Basilisk Venom turns your #4 shot into an unblockable apocalypse in the form of a lead projectile. The 1.5 second stun allows you to tag them again with your #4 with impunity, or you can just lay into them with tripple tap.
Shadow Step and that Shadow Flare thingy both allows you to shadow step while immobile. To my knowledge there is nothing that will stop a thief from shadow stepping to safety. On top of that, the rule for Shadowstep is you may shadowstep ANYWHERE in your range as long as you can walk there without jumping. This means you can shadow step to the third story of a building from the streets if you wanted.
You’re allowed to shadowstep while your #4 skill is channeling.
Swapping weapons will immediately break your kneel and allow you to move around.
Cursed Bullet is unblockable.
If you really wanted to you can combine daredevil and Deadeye together (and it some how works beautifully). The added benefit of this is that Daredevil’s number 5 ability DOES NOT follow the same rules as a shadow step. You can use this to jump across gaps you would normally not be able to, or land in some positions that forces another player to use range or run (which deadeye obviously outperforms them in).
Umm, Daredevil and Deadeye can’t be combined.
