And why are we talking about players in level 60 gear? Lolololol. Pretty sure a Thief could kill a level 80 in level 1 white gear from Mug alone.

Because you are talking about WvW. The average WvW player is undergeared. All you have to do is look at their gear skins. It’s usually generic, non-exotic skins.

Sure, maybe by level 80 the average gear is above 60 but it’s still less than exotic level. This is why balancing based on WvW experiences is just silly. Gear and weapons get scaled up but not to the equivalent of level 80 exotics. You may feel more powerful but many of those you fight are actually less powerful….and vice-versa.

You don’t balance classes based on a biased playing field like that. Especially not when you have an equal playing field right around the corner. It’s preposterous to think that you would.

Regardless, I wish you luck with your crusade to dumb the game down. Hopefully it will keep you feeling like you are good at it. Personally, I find that Thief kills bad players with relative ease (as they should) and can definitely die to good players (as they should). I feel this way regardless of whether I’m playing my Thief or my Guardian.

Good luck and have fun.

ANet needs to start checking post history before listening to the complaints. It reveals a lot.

I don’t agree with the idea of Steal not triggering. That ruins a lot more thief combo’s that many people don’t even know exist.

They should make it so C/D can get interrupted. That way, we still get your desired effect, but it takes more skill to pull it off. If they hit the steal too early, they lose the C/D and their initiative waste would of ruined them, rendering the thief useless. They will HAVE to time their Steal/CD much more effectively. If they’re slow, the victim get’s away scotch free and they face a thief with little to no initiative left for a few seconds (along with steal + venoms and signits on a 30 second cooldown still).

You’d be surprised how many skills thief skills get decast as a result of using another skill. The same should apply to our own attacking skills.

Maybe if Haste gets an overhaul then we can have pistol whip back. Nerfing an entire weapon set for PvP and PvE, when we have so few to choose from, instead of a generic utility skill is very disheartening for fans of the profession.

I ran venom > steal > haste > PW for a while in PvP before I knew it had become a big thing. Even then I knew the problem wasn’t with the weapon sets damage potential. It was traited steal being able to apply venom combined with haste.

The thing to consider is that players will abuse this utility as long as it’s there. They will find ways to abuse it. Nerf pistol whip? Ok, find a way to do it with backstab. Nerf that? Ok let’s find a way to do it with unload.

If we keep up with this pattern, eventually all of the thief’s damage options are going to be neutered before it’s finally concluded that haste needs to be changed. And then I bet a shiny nickle haste sees it’s nerf but none of the previous changes are reverted.

Stop balancing everything for haste and balance haste itself. I feel really bad for the thieves that don’t even use that utility because they base traits and skills on endurance.
