I don’t ask for destruction of other classes. I’m asking that Anet to make “Shared Anguish” comparable to thief’s “Hard to Catch” trait instead. Shorten the CD to 30 and add hide in plain sight into that trait function.

What I’m talking about is the “NEW THIEF” they’re going to launch. Just look at the SA line… They’re bad enough before the patch, but with the limitation of stat and trait points they’re somewhat balanced. Now that line is just outright insane because thief doesn’t need to make choices anymore, they get everything from it, while always be able to pick that trait line too.

You’re over exaggerating the changes to SA. The loss of Infusion means that most builds that work now may need to find other ways to compensate for the drop in Initiative gain. Not to mention, the existence of Last Refuge makes the whole trait line to have a questionable worth.

Consider that, in conjunction with the removal of stat dependent on traits, and also consider now you can pick 3 full trait lines…

Meh…you’re just complaining about nonsensical, nonexistent issue. The worth of all these changes to traits is relative to what the stats on armors will look like. It’s too early to call it “god mode” — you’re just blowing things out of proportion.

They rolled Infusion of Shadow into Shadow’s Rejuvenation; it’s arguably much stronger than it currently is on a D/P thief.

Main issues with Shadow Arts are the move of Cloaked in Shadow (which hurts every stealth build except D/P, which is a balance problem) and making Resilience of Shadows a minor trait that now stacks with Shadow’s Rejuvenation, a combination that I strongly suspect is oppressive.

The complaints about Last Refuge are legit (if overstated, at least from a PvP standpoint), but that’s not a new problem.

And not requiring any sort of setup (being in stealth, being behind the target…)

And you have a pet running around either doing extra damage or being useless (i guess it’s still a pretty distraction?)…

Just look at how that bubbled environment of saying something like " RF does damage over 2.5 seconds. " vs “instast burst” starts growing into other areas…

:/ It’s rather pointless comparing it just as skills by themselves, you (Toxsa) yourself started adding in more factors than just damage when you said 2.5 seconds…

I did the same thing you just did a while back, came into the thief forum and ran my mouth like an idiot about how OP thieves were because of stealth and damage and so on.

I got challenged to roll one, they are not that OP and can be very difficult to keep alive.

The biggest difference in this class than any other class in game is the active defense it has. It has the best active defense than any other class.

It has zero passive defense except on boon steals and the boons from stolen goods(mesmer only), so all defense is a challenge.

No stab, hardly any condi clear, thieves do a lot of damage and still will, but its still an active defense profession and will stay that way.

And if you look through this forum right now, you will see a lot of people complaining about the hits to that active defense they are taking.

Trust the people that play thieves, they are complaining because they know what it will do.

It’s mildly annoying when people read the patch notes and then go ranting about how stupid op the class is, and have never even played it. They are very high tension and difficult to sustain, and they need some assistance.

That being said, if you’re looking for a buff, Asking that another class be nerfed is the last thing you should be doing.

Patience gave one initiative every 10 seconds, starting on second 10. It’s a totally worthless trait. The change to SR looks a lot like Shadow’s Embrace, which would be 1 up front and then 1 every 3 seconds. That’s something like Infusion plus 3.3x patience; slightly weaker in the stealth and immediately reveal use case but potentially stronger when resetting.

I think it’s a pretty good change and more healthy overall.

They just showed us trait rebalance, which are not even final…they might rebalance (as they did with traits) weapon skills, heal/ulitity/elite skills AANNDD elite specialization for all classes.

So pull your panties out of bunch and wait till we know more information before claiming god mod, spam master, ruined class bs.

My main is not thief, but I do have a lv80 thief for about 2 years. I don’t do tournaments with thief, but I do use it to get that 150 wins in pvp before the spectator + auto-balance abuse went live. I do use thief in WvW also.

Besides pointing at something and saying that it’s OP, you’ve done very little. As in, great you pointed at something (SA trait line, and Hard to Catch), and said it’s OP with a little bit about how it’s OP – how should it be changed though? How would you make it balanced.

That’s great. All that means very little to me in terms of how credible you are.

150 pvp wins – just takes time, play long enough and you will have 300 wins, whether you improve between matches (one would hope so) I don’t know. Grind it out even further and you will have a dragon rank.

lvl 80 on all classes – cool, takes time again, and well it’s great you probably know at least the basics of classes – over the span of 2 years, I would hope you know a bit more than the basics, but not necessarily since you could have closed yourself/beliefs off to change and adaption – as in kept playing like a noob for 2 years.

As far as how truthful all that is, well, I just have to take your word for it for now w/o screenshots and such. As far as you know I could be dragon ranked and have 50 lvl 80s of each class (just because I wipe my kitten with $20 bills).

So yeah, that’s great you can say that – but the value you brought to this decision is very little if any at all (besides pointing out that something is OP and saying hard to catch is better than a ranger’s trait). (oh and the combination of traits on SA line is OP.)

Criticize all you like Idrc. It’s not like you thieves will criticize something against your OP specs. You would like to protect it ofc. (Well, you’d even ask for more I bet)

My objective is to let the developers aware the issue, that is all. I’ll do so for whatever it takes. Moving on.

Suggestion? Move -50% damage reduction trait to at least major master in SA. Move the initiate gain from Rejuvication to other less used trait. Increase CD on auto stun-break to 60 secs. (Other classes are at 60 or 90 secs for this type of trait) . Resistance on hit should put on higher CD. Panic strike CD increased. Executioner moved back to Critical Strike.
