NERF THIEVES PLEASE!!!
Yeah, thieves are so OP, they should just be removed from the game. Their traps can oneshot you if stacked, they have a kitten ton of blocks/invulnerabilities/blinds. They’re also almost impossible to cc with all of their stability. Thieves are just way to good. Did you know a group of 4 thieves and 1 ele won an ESL tournament? That shows just how OP they are. Hell, I’m always jelous when the other team has more than one thief. A guaranteed win that one is.

exactly like wtf? who balanced this stupid class? The trait improvisation is insane, instantly recharging utility skills, this should be completely removed. Nowadays, with daredevil all thieves do is spam dodges that needs to be nerfed immediately! I propose that thieves should have 50% less energy regen than other classes. Thieves also have too much mobility so shortbow skill #5 needs to have its range reduced by half and it needs to have a cooldown of 10 seconds.

lol troll is troll.
You must be a thief player then, only thief players will say that their class is not op.
If you have problems beating a Thief,
then you don’t know how to play, as simple as that, no matter what class I play the easier target is always the Thief, so just practice a little bit before posting on the forums.
You can dodge, block, get invulnerability or blind just like any other class.
Thieves don’t have blocks, and you can kill them while on stealth.

LOL Another Thief player detected! Thieves are op and they need nerfs.
This can’t be real guys…
Is this real?

Pretty kitten sure it’s a troll… But on the other hand really wish this is a legitimate QQ post… I just don’t know anymore… It’s been too long…

Another thief player, I cant wait to see you guys get nerfed hard, thief requires 0 skill!
It is real, it a real as brass historical re-enactment of a kitten Warrior from 2012
You guys are taking the bait so hard right now
Yeah, I think he’s a troll… or trying too hard to troll… Like pointing out each “thief” player…

kitten IT.
I KNEW IT.
IT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE….
kitten you merrykitten for breaking my heart…
I am actually am lol. I don’t understand why you are crying without going to try specific counters for yourself instead of crying on the fourms like everyone else. Thief has many counters and if you have been defeated by one then you should try a different build or L2P. Theif is not over powered by any means.

Of course you will say they are not overpowered because you dont want your class to get nerfed.

Shiet I’m exposed! LOL I main a thief :P
Seriously though, since we get nerfed when we ask for buffs, might as well ask for nerfs.
Of course. You also posted nothing positive or constructive in your post. You also posted no specifics. What class were you playing? What build? The 10k backstab that happened. Do you have prof? Because I would love to hit 10k backstabs, maybe I’m playing wrong. If the class is OK I’m all for nerfs. IF not why not trying posting something a little more constructive then STEALTH SPAM OP, because many other classes have stealth. It really just sounds like you’re a troll or suck at gw2. Lol
LOL I played gw2 since beta
I would say that I’m a high level thief player. Some players still complain about me spamming heartseeker! (but I don’t even use heartseeker expect for blackpowder combo lol)
Yeah bro, the QQ post lacked a bit of but-hurt feelings and emotions… It also didn’t help that you were quickly point out every “thief” player…
So what you just posted related nothing to what anyone else has said. Idc if you have played since beta. You play thief since beta but still get rekt?? What is this post even about?
Troll thread detected nothing to see here folks, requesting mod to lock plz.
Since the thief requires far more skill to successfully play than most of the other classes (Revenant might give it a run for its money with how much you need to keep track of) I’m all for more nerfs because if thieves still can be found in PvP performing well then it’s clearly too easy as is.
More nerfs plox,
I relish the challenge

I created this thread because I was bored and tired of all the thief nerfs and I wanted to see people’s reaction when I ask for more nerfs.
I still lose sometimes as thief, but most thieves cant beat me.

In all honesty though, thieves do need more nerfs. They still occasionally show up in pvp matches on the same team.

But don’t the thieves + 1 the 3v5. So + 1 + 1 is +2? 3 + 2 =5 …
nah having too many +1 gives you a negative effect. so it’s actually +1-1 which is 0
nah having too many +1 gives you a negative effect. so it’s actually +1-1 which is 0
Yeah with two thieves you hit the “one steve limit”, you can’t have two ‘+1’ players, someone has to change, so one changes to “x-1” where they turn the number into a negative making it -4v5
But don’t the thieves + 1 the 3v5. So + 1 + 1 is +2? 3 + 2 =5 …
Don’t you remember? Thieves are the “+”…. not the “1”
Thieves only +1.
They do not +2 or +3 or +4.
Because Thieves only enter fights where their team’s number of players equal the opposing team’s number of players.
So a +2 would mean that there is currently a 2v2 before the Thief enters.
And any fight where there are at least 2 opposing players means a Thief will melt do to AoE’s or get hacked up by cleave.
Therefore, Thieves only +1… and only against certain builds and in certain situations.
Basically, out of all of the possible combat scenarios, a Thief only engages in very specific opportunities. Think of such scenarios like prizes…

Thanks guys, I can now thief math.
I had a more mathematical approach:
Since thieves can +1 even fights to make things uneven but cannot +1 fights to make then even the following is true:
Where T is the value of thief.
2+T vs 2 -> 2+T > 2
1+T vs 2 -> 1+T < 2
From this we can follow that T is 0 < T < 1 .
Thus, if two thieves were to + 1 a 3v5, it would still be 3 + 2T < 5 .
It also proves that a thief + 1’ing a 0v1 the opponent would still be at advantage, since 0 + T vs 1 -> T < 1 as shown above.
We just need a fight were X+T = Y to solve for T… and find out the true value of T (or rather, Thieves)
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
Whatever you said I’m sure you’re right.
Where T is the value of thief.

1+T vs 2 -> 1+T < 2From this we can follow that T is 0 < T < 1 .

We just need a fight were X+T = Y to solve for T… and find out the true value of T (or rather, Thieves)
Unfortunately, it gets more complicated than that. Sometimes, T is actually negative. We must take the number of opponents into account.
t: Thief
a: Ally
o: Opponent
a = o
If xo <= 1o, then t > 0
If xo > 1o, then t < 0
so…
t + 1a > 1o
but…
t + 2a < 2o
But even that doesn’t tell the whole story. We have yet to even get into the value of a Thief with low health… and don’t even get me started on how much a downed Thief will cost your team. It’s deducts at least 0.5 from your total… probably closer to a full 1!

That mathematical model seems rather flawed, Dr. Kage.
For the first is done when you set a = o.
If we accept all that, then
t + 1a > 1o
and
t + 2a < 2o
Become
t + 1a > 1a
and
t + 2a < 2a
Since a = o.
We can then divide both sides by 2 on the second inequality:
t + a > a
and
(t + 2a)/2 < a
Factor out t from the second equation:
t/2 +2a/2 < a
The 2’s cancel out, resulting in:
t/2 +a < a
and
t + a > a
These statements would make it impossible for t to be anything but 0. However we’ve already proven that t is 0 < t < 1.

Of course it does. It is based on ANet’s mathematical principles, not mine :-P
According to them…
(4,344 * 1.1) = 4,344
But yes, the “T factor” seems to be one of those crazy phenomena that defy common sense.
Yes, “a = o” unless “t” is involved. Simply because “a” cannot Rally off of “t” where “o” can. Not to mention that “t” anywhere near more than one “o” soon becomes “dt” (Downed Thief), and that can theoretically cause all kinds of results. Not only can “do” Rally from “dt,” but “a” may actually become “da” from trying to revive “dt,” not to mention that “dt” in one equation is of less value than “t” in another equation in another location.
Sadly, that is the truth :-(
That mathematical model seems rather flawed, Dr. Kage.

According to them…
(4,344 * 1.1) = 4,344…
As flawed as that may seem, I believe it comes from the same notion of +1 for the thief. Since we’ve already established that 0 < T < 1, T is then a fraction. However, players cannot be quantified in fractal form, as in there can’t be a half a player, they then proceed to round up T, giving it a value of 1. Like wise 1.1 is rounded down to 1 so that 4,344 * 1 = 4,344.
From this we can also deduce that T may very well be 0.5 <= T < 1, since in order to round a number up it has to be at least half or more.

Since t must be 0, but 0 < t < 1…
The conclusion is that t is imaginary. Therefore thieves do not exist, which makes sense since thieves are supposed to be hiding
As flawed as that may seem, I believe it comes from the same notion of +1 for the thief. Since we’ve already established that 0 < T < 1, T is then a fraction. Eureka!!!
So that explains it all!!!
Thieves are not real players! They are merely AI that anticipates a player’s actions. That would account for all of the oddities that gets attributed to latency. So a Thief is just slightly different from a Ranger’s pet. Not necessarily better… just different.
But that begs some questions…
Why does ANet keep up such a charade? Was the Thief always an AI? Or was it merely patched to be sometime after launch? And who was responsible for making such a change???
since thieves are supposed to be hiding
Well, they were hiding… until ANet gave everyone and their mother skills that Revealed the imaginary Thieves. That would also explain why Thieves were not given those skills… because they were hiding when the skills were given.

Holy kitten that makes alot of sense! Thieves were left out of the power creep in HOT because they were hidden and Anet couldnt find them so thieves got nothing.
Thieves…
At some point you should calculate/create a formula to scale the troll potential of the average thief player.
ETA: And I already know the number:
It’s over 9000!!!

Thieves…
At some point you should calculate/create a formula to scale the troll potential of the average thief player.
ETA: And I already know the number:
It’s over 9000!!!
T (x) = (|x|+1.01) * 9000
x is the level of the thief! it’s always going to be above 9000
x is a real number where: negative infinity < x < infinity
T is the troll level measured in kittens (since Anet loves cats so much)
