get the 15% damage nerf to Pistol Whip reverted? Since the whole reason Pistol Whip was nerfed in the first place was because of quickness. Food nerf also hurt PW a lot, I don’t see a reason why the damage can’t be upped now.

This is what I’ve been saying.
S/P needs attention pronto.
S/D still looking for some in spvp as well but man oh man, that haste nerf.
People walk out of it as if I was using it without haste.
So what do?

A 0.5s stun that happens after a big delay and so isn’t even worthy enough to be an interrupt skill isn’t that much to talk about compared to a skill that does twice as much damage.

You’re right, I just can’t help myself whenever I see somebody talking about warriors like that (playing War, Thief and Mesmer myself).

Thief is mostly screwed in PvE right now though. PvP is more or less ok if you ask me.

It’s about undoing a prior nerf, not getting a buff.

See Pistol Whip as it was at launch + haste was extremely powerful. People cried OP, so they nerfed Pistol Whip, when the problem was quickness all along. The nerf made it so that pistol whip WITHOUT quickness wasn’t very useful, only useful for evading attacks of a mob that could not be blinded essentially.

The stun isn’t that great, you spend 0.75s before a 0.5s stun goes off and then get rooted for 1.65s. 1s of which you evade (meaning there’s 0.15s between the stun ending and evade starting that you can get hit and interrupted with a knockdown.

The nerf made it so that the main damage on the set was autoattack, every other skill was basically utility skills. Every other weapon set for every other class, your autoattack is your weakest weapon skill. For Sword Thieves, it’s highest dps.

They tackled the real problem finally for instagibbing with PW, so give us back PW damage when not using quickness.

I was wrong when I said this. Usually, they try something different when they un-nerf something, but they have reversed nerfs before.

In particular, Mind Blast received a really crippling nerf back in GW1 that was later reversed alongside some other changes.

These changes do get reversed when it the evidence from the field makes it clear it was a mistake. So don’t lose hope, it could happen.

In the case of Pistol Whip, I personally don’t want to see the damage nerf undone. Instead, I’d like to see the half second delay before the stun lands shortened, which will both improve the DPS of the skill when weaved into a combo, as well as empowering the stun aspect of the skill.

Still, yes, a lot of things that were being held back by quickness can be buffed now, let’s hope that happens.

PW + Haste as it was, was indeed pretty powerful but the ability without it is pretty bad, like slomo without the cool effect. Now its not as good either and verging on the useless section once more. Remove the root. Auto-attacking backstabs that do double damage are probably the most OP about thieves and it almost seems we’re being corralled into using that. But no worries I’ll just try different things – the mighty Ambush was out in sPvP last night – FEAR ME COWARDS….lol, was interesting though.

The global nerf of quickness wasn’t needed. They should have specifically nerfed the Mesmer/Warrior ones because of CoF p1 – but the ranger and thief pendants were fine. “Nobody” was using [Haste] 24/7 in sPvP/WvW…

At least give us our pistol whip damage (15%) back to give an alternative to d/d; SB.

I don’t like that autoattack is the highest dps skill on the set. Frankly it’s silly. Autoattack is meant to conserve initiative while still being able to do damage, not be your best damage and you only use initiative to do utility skill stuff. It defeats the purpose of initiative, which is to be able to do burst damage by using the same skill multiple times in a row.

When using the same skill multiple times in a row does less damage than just standing there autoattacking, the system is BROKEN.

You guise do realize that when doing the spike dmg sequence you had to basically pop 3-4 skills and CDs? …. Then, IF you didn’t miss the Basilisk (a must…enforced on the build to make CnD or BS easier) , you’d go on and CnD, if you didn;t miss that, you’d move around the target and do a Backstab (that can also miss), and all this in the time basilisk was up, dancing thru AOE maybe and in the case the target just stood there like a kitten hippo with a target on it’s back waiting for you to carry on with your amazing plan… COMMON ANET! WTF?!

Sooooo fed up with having to change everything due to reckless nerfs …

Thief is a PLAY STYLE as a PROFESSION!

Basically what QQers want is to kill thieves and they can’t cuz they run.

It’s a good idea, I’d even be okay with just speeding the entire animation up 15%. Though honestly just increasing the damage by 15% would be the easiest solution, even if just temporary until they can implement something better.

Still, yes, a lot of things that were being held back by quickness can be buffed now, let’s hope that happens.

I do appreciate significant design changes. Though the shock of losing haste made me want some quick fixes.
I wish there was a “fan” type of combo finisher. Every time I Pistol whip in a Smoke field I wish I could fan out some blind.
