Was reading one of the threads recently and someone pointed out that we don’t have any sort of ability to break stealth, and it got me thinking, so here is my idea:

Create a mechanic called Flashbang that, when triggered, would produce an AoE stealth break along with causing Revealed for say 6s, and blindness for 2-3s. This would give us an option to combat stealth based thieves and mesmers, as well as making more use of the Revealed mechanic.

Perhaps put the trait into Revealed Training, and have the skill triggered either by a third profession mechanic, or maybe by triggering stealth while already stealthed? Not sure, haven’t really thought it out much.

Thoughts?

I’m not a fan of the idea of giving classes more reveal, but I do love the flashbang idea. I think it’d be cool if it was something like “Whenever you get revealed, drop a flashbang that deals damage, bleeds, and blinds nearby foes.(blast finisher)” with something like a 15-20 second cooldown.

So basically, a blinding powder that deals damage and bleeds whenever you get revealed. But I do like this idea.

Now look at it this way. You’re fighting a Thief and he flashbanged you from stealth, preventing you from stealthing and blinding you so that he can backstab you with no risk of counter.

To be honest, I’m tired of seeing suggestions around the Revealed mechanic.

Why can’t they just allow Thief have the innate ability to see, as a silhouette, anyone who is in stealth?

This way, we can do away with Revealed and it makes the Thief a good counter to stealth enemies and an important member of a team.

Sounds good to me!
Another approach would be the following suggested changes I made for Shadow Arts in my Trait Shakeup thread…

Shadowsight:
You can now see and target Stealthed opponents. When you are not in Stealth, you will see the opponent’s “ghostly” form. When you are in Stealth, you will see the opponent as completely visible.
Keep in mind that this trait is competing with Shadow’s Rejuvenation, so it must provide significant value. You will also be able to take full advantage of “Meld with Shadow’s” new Stealth-granting ability.

Meld with Shadows:
In addition to the 1-second extension to Stealth, striking a Stealthed target removes Revealed from you and also applies 3 seconds of Stealth (1 second cooldown). Can be combined with “Hidden Thief” and “Shadowsight” for invisible Thief battles. Yes… invisible Thief battles.
Not only will this trait remove Revealed from you, but striking a Stealthed target will not Reveal you. This does allow dueling Thieves to remain Stealthed for an indefinite period, however, striking a non-Stealthed target will still Reveal you.

Hidden Thief:
In addition to granting Stealth on Steal, if the target is Stealthed, then you will gain an aditional 3 seconds of Stealth. Can be combined with “Shadowsight” to target Stealthed enemies.
